I have been invited for stage 1 of 3 interview with MIM in glasgow tomorrow, no one else here seems to have mentioned an office in glasgow, doubting whether i should go now, everyone's description of them and their vagueness over the position i would be doing is ringing alarm bells with me.

MIM is the same company from Manchester, in Dickinson House. One in Glasgow used to be Smiths Marketing. These guys were on Panorama for conducting illegal activities. They are all to do with PerDM, Dickinson House, Outsource Ten, Bradford Marketing - they're all the same. Don't go. Unless you dislike your freedom and having money in the bank.

One major flaw to your comment there Danny... how would you know who the lady's son was? There are no names or details for you to know that... you are trying to inflame a reaction using "racist, sexist" and "BNP" but it is obviously a diversion tactic...

You are representing yourself as exactly the sort of person that all the comments on this thread refer to and your attitude and tone is congruous with the treatment people are stating occurs in your "business" (I use that term lightly).

Your tone also reeks of stress and desperation to defend and protect yourself and your "business'" reputation. I personally feel incredibly sorry for you as you are obviously a stressed and angry person who is lacking in peace, mental fulfilment and any sort of connection to people in your life other than viewing them as "marks" in a hustle or as a cash cow to be milked for your own needs....

I guess you could say that both you and the lady's son "milk cows"? He works with nature and is connected to his fellow humans and the natural world... you scam people out of money to fuel your ego and boost your lack in self esteem.....

I got a call today from MIM glasow offering me an interview tomorow. REALLY glad i decided to do some research and found this site, i will not be attending that interiew!
Started getting suspicious about it when i looked up the address from the email and discovered it was exactly the same place i had an interview last year for SMITHS MARKETING! The "office" is in a basement and is really grubby.
I dont know how they can get away with advertising a door to door sales job as a customer service job and advertise the salary as £15,000-£20,000 when you are self employed working on comission!
Big thank you to all the people writing posts warning us about these jobs. You have saved me my bus fare to glasgow tomorrow which would be £10 (as much as i would make in a week with MIM by the sound of things)

Outsource Ten are now advertising salarey details £15,000 - 22000 followed by (£15,000 - £22,000). I am sure it is not illegal, so why won't they just be honest about what they do?? Why just advertise the job for what it is. NO Marketing takes place with is vacancy, you are door to door selling.

I applied for a job at Dickinson house for LJR marketing and I'm guessing this is a scam too as they use the same phone number and said they had read my cv and rang within 5 minutes of me sending it off!!! Waste of time!!

    Francis Macdonald
    Hello,

My name is Frank Macdonald, and I am a freelance journalist currently in the process of investigating John Johnson of Paramount Force and the 'commission only' marketing industry. I have some contact details and if (big if) I can get an interview with him I would be more than happy to submit your questions to him.

If you have a question for Mr. Johnson, or want information that I have gathered please send me an email at francis.ian.macdonald@gmail.com.
Do please try to use intellegence and sensitivity in your questions, and construct your argument fairly.

I shall post a link to the finished article in a few weeks on this forum for anyone interested.

    Many Thanks

    Frank

If you see any sales jobs telling you to email a Elisha Cann, don't waste your time. This woman's name has been linked to several different companys, the latest being Solution Marketing, which have been flooding employment websites with non existent jobs. They are offering commission only work where you will earn nothing. The key is to remember the names of those operating these scams as the companys often change names. So Elisha Cann equal scam.

I dropped out of college for these scammers. I was having a hard time there, so decided to search for admin/customer service jobs in the hope that if I would one good enough, I would give up college and work instead. I came accross jobs saying 'full training provided, if you have customer service, retail, hospitality experience we need you' all advertised as earning an avg of £300 a week which I thought was ok, so I applied.
A few days later I got a call from the admin at MJ Worldwide Ltd (based at Dickinson House), run by Matt Street, a 20 year old child who boasts about driving a BMW but shared a bed with one of his top leaders in the council house he rented and shared with about 6 other people in Levenshulme.
I was invited for an interview, in which he told me it was a trainee management programme, showed me the 4 steps or whatever they are and the average earnings for each one. Apparently I would be owning my own company within 6-8 months. I was a bit skeptical, but I thought I would give it the benefit of the doubt, and agreed to come back for a second interview the next day. (Bearing in mind I was under the impression I'd just be doing general office duties and helping out with management during my TRAINING, not door to door sales....)
Next day I turned up in a thin coat and flimsy shoes, expecting to be sat in a long interview all day. What I did not expect was to be paired up with some kid in Converse (who turned out to be 24 but looked about 13) who was apparently an 'Account Manager' and she was to be interviewing me that day. She took me outside where I waited in the rain for everyone else to get ready, and told me that it was commission only - but the average was 3 sales a day at £30 each, so it paid well in the end. Unfortunately I was taken in by her story, and proceeded to follow her through the city of Manchester - still oblivious to the fact it was door to door sales.
We ended up walking to a really rough estate on the outskirts of town, walking round in the rain and wind for 7-8 hours, 4 of us at a door (no wonder customers looked so terrified) and ending up making s pretty £0 between us. Needless to say, I was a bit put off, but decided to look at it the positive way. (big mistake...) I then went for yet another interview with Matt, who left me waiting in the waiting room for about 2 hours, freezing cold and wet, before telling me congratulations I had the job, and finally letting me go home past 11pm.

When I started I was taken into atmosphere where I was high fived a billion times with everyone walking round clapping wearing constant cheesy grins. I had to religiously take notes and listen, and wasn't allowed to look at my phone, even though they weren't paying me a penny to be there...

I didn't like half their dodgy sales techniques, Jones Effect - who wants their name passing around the whole street? Law of Averages - wtf is that, people aren't computers, 1 in 25 isn't programmed to buy - if nobody wants it, nobody wants it!! I also thought the fact we didn't carry any documents from talk talk itself was pathetic, and definitely a plot to get into more houses - as we couldn't just show them the figures on the door, we had to write it all down - therefore anyone who was remotely interested was asked 'WHERE'S YOUR TABLE??????' practically with your foot in the door. We had no folders/files to put application forms in, so we had to rely on our bags/pockets with the hope we wouldn't lose peoples names, addresses, bank details and signatures. This did happen by the way.

Not to mention for my first couple of weeks of 'employment' I had a badge with the name of 'Fatima' with a picture of a woman wearing a headscarf, ridiculous as I'm not remotely Arab nor Muslim.

I did become a 'leader' in 4 days, however, as I decided if I was going to do it I'd better make some money from it, so made sure I 'rang the bell' every day (even though half the sales you could make, weren't even classed as proper sales,wtf...)

Two weeks in I was suddenly told on a Saturday night that we were off on a weeks road trip to Essex, working in Josh Peace's office, one of the owners who was regularly worshipped, along with Justin Cobb and a few others whos names were constantly mentioned in awe and wonder.
Needless to say, I was devastated, I had plans for my only day off with my boyfriend, who I hadn't spoken to all week and he was getting annoyed as from an objective point of view, he could see the patheticness of what I was doing.

The week in Essex was the final straw, sleeping on an air bed with 3 other girls sharing one pillow and sleeping bag, everybody staying up to 3 every morning downstairs playing poker (where the hell do they get their energy??) and being bossed around by a 17 year old leader (who wasn't even old enough to have her own badge yet). I spoke to people who'd split up with their girlfriends, dropped out of uni, fallen out with their parents and all sorts to do that - and I wondered, do I really want this, OK even if I do well, become an owner, I'm going to be minus a family, a boyfriend, and probably any self respect or morals I'd ever had. After being told at the end of a horrendous week that Matt had decided to move the office there and wanted me to stay, I told them no chance and paid for an overnight coach back to Manchester. Hell over.... or so I thought.

Next week, a salesperson knocks on the door..... from Paramount Force, Michelle House, Manchester (run by John Johnson.) He wasn't pushy, seemed a lot more professional than the PerDM bunch, and was definitely older than most of the MJ Worldwide group. I told him about my experience, and he said he'd get me a job, so desperate, i went along with it. Paramount Force are a group of the most self obsessed, arrogant, up-their-own-a*ses snobs you have ever met. I remember crying after being demanded petrol money for being driven to Bradford (not like I wanted to go...) and having literally -£80 in the bank as no sales training was provided and hardly any support was given. I told them I needed one day a week off for college (even though by then I wasn't going at all) just so they wouldn't make me do their 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. After a week in Glasgow where I was villainised for wanting to go to bed every night instead of getting drunk with them, and daring to show the office up by turning up late after visiting my cousin I hadn't seen in over 10 years, I decided I'd had enough and told them I wasn't coming back in again. NEVER AGAIN. EVER. Unless you're already a good salesperson, have no family, relationships, or friends, and tons of money in the bank to use in case you don't make any, and don't mind walking round annoying people in their homes 8 hours a day, listening to cheesy fake over enthusiastic nutters talk about how wonderful it is and what their goals are, go for it. If, like most normal people, you're not, then don't bother.

The only thing I'd recommend it for, if you can stick it out, is do it for a month or so, as it looks great on your CV. If you can do well in THAT environment, everything else is a piece of sodding cake.

Thanks for that post Joanna! I was supposed to have an interview today but now there's no chance I'm going to it.
I applied for what seemed like a perfect job I saw on an advertising website. It was advertised saying 'SUMMER WORK IN SALES AND ADVERTISING. Students also welcome!'. As I am a student, desperately looking for work for the next three months in order to pay my way through my final year at university, I thought this sounded ideal as everywhere else I was applying rejected my application as soon as they saw I was only available for three months. A couple of days after applying for the position I got an e-mail saying my CV had been reviewed, that I had been shortlisted for the interviews and that I was to ring the number given to sort a time/date out for the interview. When I did so the woman I was speaking to sounded extremely young and slightly overenthusiastic. I thought nothing of it at the time as I was beyond delighted to have finally got to an interview stage somewhere after weeks of searching for a job. I started to get a bit suspicious when I asked on the phone yesterday what exactly the job entailed and they didn't give me a direct answer, only avoided the question. Then I found the Paramount Force website and saw that on it they basically say the same sentence in loads of different ways, hence giving no information whatsoever about what the company actually do. I also thought the name 'Jon Johnson' seemed a bit dodgy so I googled his name along with the company name and came across this website. So glad I did this before attending the interview today. After finding all this out I rang the same number again today, and asked directly for Jon Johnson. Not a hope. I talked to his administrator (the same one as yesterday)  and asked her questions, most of which she avoided. I started talking with a sterner tone and asked outright about sales and marketing as regards door to door selling. I tried as much as possible to put her on the spot by asking lots of questions I knew she'd try and avoid and also by stating facts I'd discovered about Paramount Promotions. I eventually managed to catch her out and she let it slip that the interviews today were for one of those door to door positions and that all travel expenses were to be paid for by the person sitting the interview.

I'd advise anyone that has an interview for Paramount Force or any company like that, where it seems extremely difficult to find out information about them, not to go as it'll be a complete and utter waste of your time.

Uni students DO NOT APPLY!!! They will talk you into dropping out of uni for their scheme... unless you're prepared to work that hard (I know people who've actually successfully done it) carry on with your studies! Its p!ss easy compared to what they're offering you!!

Also slightly off topic, but I wouldn't let employers know you're only available for 3 months - they don't have to! (this could possibly be a technique that i learned from these 'jobs' haha) but seriously, you can always hand in your notice after 3 months, or ask them to take you on part time after then?
