It's not a scam really it's not. All of the people there are actually very very nice and friendly....except mike.... Who even swore at me when I told him about client treatments...

But it depends on who your working with and who's in your team and how you act.

I was told lies about the payment from mike but maria told me the truth, and I have a lot of respect for that girl because she was very good to me never had a problem with her, but she always seems serious and didn't seem up for laughs, I have to admit she was the best person I worked with during the atmosphere room, and she was very reassuring but serious and seemed tense during the knocking on doors. Andy was the best at door knocking and signing people up.

If any gets a job there I suggest that you try it out but watch out who you are working with, but try it out it may be commission based work but it's not a scam.

I tell you now, This is really some Fishy company or " scamers" who want to take advantge of the young people un-experienced. I usunprisingly pass my 1st interview, but the strange things was that at the interview I wasnt even given the chance to find out anything about the position I'm in for and the salary; and now I'm asked to go tomorrow at 12 afternoon to 8 pm.. and do some trial.!?

Come on, no one goes to a trial and do a days work without knowing what they signing in for.?

anways, my advice to you guys looking to find out about GATEWAY who aparantly is a sales representative for EDF energy, is just full of - S***.   Trust me, do waist your time. Just as the first comment at the top. it was same experience with me.

Dont work for free unless; you realy want to join a reputable company of your dreams.

the guy with the blue band...i think he was lithuanian right? i thought he was the cutest thing EVER, and no that blue band was not stupid, whats even cuter is that he lied about his age to me told me he was 23, then someone said he was actually 22, but i thought he was younger, anyways dunno how old he is, and i just found it sweet, he was the nicest one out of all of them, he made me smile the most, i just wanted to cuddle him! he was weird though...in a good way...

I could have taken anyone seriously there...i don't care that its commission based, i don't mind face to face sales, but clients should be treated better, and managers need to be more stable and know what they are doing and care for their business, if the managers act all mean rude careless then obviously they won't make a successful business, if they do the opposite then yes chances are they will. i'm not bothered about the commission but the treatments of clients, behavior of workers and managers. no one wants to work for someone for free but no one also wont work for someone who does not have the mentality of a manager, i know i wouldn't, no one would.

I'm sorry if anyone finds my comments offensive but they are honest, if I was in the wrong then I will admit it, like in some of my previous jobs where I got told off... Well I deserved it, because I didn't do
my job properly and didn't listen well, well maybe I didn't hear need to open my ears more...

Most of you lot posting here are just making half slanderous comments, if your gonna comment about any one there then make comments about those you worked with and spoke to, and not on those who you never spent time or worked with.

SORRY another mistake i was actually at my OTHER JOB at moorgate, which i still work at when evil mike phoned me, but he also phoned and me and text-ed me one/two days before that to see if i was coming in...i said no...then i went the next day... he threatened me with violence, i went around the houses but only knocked on like 98 or 105 doors, NEVER signed anyone up,cause i felt sooooo giulty and stupid, and i just stood there spoke to them, look at them with guilt and thought..."sorry for being so rude and stupid, i wish i wasn't doing this job, i feel bad, i'm not going to be working for these people anymore, i dont want to leave cause i feel sorry for my stupid manager, he obviosly doesn't have a staple brain, he needs help" i never said this to them directly but thought it in my head....it would have been funny if i said it loudly....i felt so so so soooooooo sooooo guilty knocking on peoples door.

the next i never went at all. got a text if i'm coming in, i said no, then a call, i said no, then i think think it was on a Friday or Thursday i got a call and like 2 texts to see if i was coming in i said no, then he called me and was come to the office i need to talk to you...i went he was like "don't tell me how to run my business...blah blah blah" before no one was passing by..."if you need any help finding a job, if you need any references i am here to help you"...and i was like thinking in my head (already got one, and no i'm not coming back for your help, cause you are a sadistic idiot). when he spoke to me at day he sounded nice and calm after he saw the other workers passing by... but i think he was doing it cause some of the workers outside the office was looking at him and me...i remember their face but not their name, i only remember Duncan sharps name that was there and what he looked like, he asked me if i was ok....i was about to tell duncan he himself was a dirty scammer, tell him i found out through the internet, and he works with evils, but then i thought twice and released that was tooooo slanderous of me since i never worked for him. so i didn't do it, my problem wasn't with him at all, and i just walked off and said i was ok...i was feel ecstatic brilliant cause i knew i was never going to work for an idiot like mike again but i was angry cause of the violent threats that mike made to me.

Oh ad i wanted him to speak to my mum to explain to her why almost every previous worker there on the internet is claiming its a scam, not because i wanted to stay there, why would i stay there when he threaten me with violence, on face to face base and via text?!

i still work at moorgate the same job but only on a Saturday.

Omg I remember mike he was the idiot who would speak about the most irrelevant things about work, like one day he started blabbing on about dreams... Idiot. I always smelt something unpleasant around him, never trusted him, I spoke to him, but he sounded like an idiot. Long post, but I too fell for this and like many of you I've done a little digging after my experience.

First of all, legally and technically these companies ARE NOT A SCAM. However annoyed you are at them, they never lied to you. But in the words of Buzz Lightyear, their skill is 'omitting certain truths'.

Legal loopholes and tight small print mean that these companies don't even need to tell you that the work is door to door until you actually start. In most cases, people wont have figured it out until the last few training days.

When you are employed, you are self employed, and you are put to work with a group of people bordering on delusional from the cult like atmosphere so rigorously kept up by the director. These people's social lives have eroded to nothing and their attitudes are warped to only care about money and work. The director has created robots, and despite the massive turnover having these few people is worth his while. If 1 in 1000 becomes a robot, interview 10,000 people to get yourself 10. And when the others finally leave they are either bitched about horribly or shut out from existence, i was told several times not to mention the names of people who had left.

The job itself is miserable, ridiculous hours and false promises. You will return home in pain at almost midnight, and on days where you sell nothing (far more common than they'll have you believe) the experience is a killer.

So who could be behind all this? Well for paramount force, the man is John Johnson.

While digging into my old workplace, finding John was a real needle in a haystack scenario. I sent letters, emails, phoned the company, but no interview. It was sheer luck that I tracked down an old email on my g mail giving his number.

Far from the fire spitting evil thugs the directors have been portrayed in this post, Johnson is eloquent, funny, softly spoken and very intelligent. He was always polite and very quick to answer during our interview. No matter what I asked, he never got riled up, but his answers always seemed prepared, like he has had to do this before?
I only stumped him once. I simply asked 'So is money the be all and end all of work?'
The answer for any person with a shred of ethical conscience is 'no of course not, its a journey and a life experience and money is second to those things'
But Johnson went quiet for a few seconds before muttering weakly, 'to some people, yes.'

Johnson is clearly intelligent, and clearly well educated, and therefore I have a seriously hard time believing he started at ground level. But what is more vile than the misleading information he gives is probably how calm he is. How little anything but money means to him. That includes you, potential worker! Why doesn't he worry about his colossal turnover? Because very simply, John Johnson doesn't care.

So before you go beyond interview stage, ask yourself. Is this the man I want to work for? Do I really want to abandon my friends and morals? Remeber John Johnson isnt the only one. He is Ali Mir, he is Brett Heyes, Alex Pinker and Adam Allen. As ever its your choice, and as ever he will continue to use his acumen not for an ethical business but as a weapon against desperate people. His company is a reflection of him. Does he sound like your ideal boss?

It would be a great assistance if you could tell us how to identify which ones are telling lies and which are not?      Or even how to tell the dodgy ones from the others?

Without that knowledge we will simply need to treat all the same, for our own protection.

Ok ok she or he said it through my comment I don't know who erm is but what I meant is you cannot judge the whole company. You cannot tell who is the baddy or goody at work unless you've given them a try to work with them. Some of them at primus uk where in fact very very nice people even if they weren't part of primus uk, but generally I mean old street... For instance I remember some asian manager there who would give me advise, he was never rude and never lied to me. Red planet manager told me the truth about the payment on my first interview I decided to go the next day... Why?... Because he was honest.

You cannot tell unless you've spoken and/or worked with them.

And you cannot judge all of them in the same light just because you have had a bad experience with one person there... That person was worthless.

I hope these managers that have seen these messages have learnt a valuable lesson, the comments all seem bad.

As far as I know door to door sales are not illegal. So they are not breaking any law, commission based work is not against the law either. But if they are abusive as some of you claim... Yeah that is wrong... I hope they have matured more from their behaviour... I think I'll stay away from these jobs...

I remember mike and I swear he violently swore at one of his female workers, this happened more than a year, I remember he used the f word towards her. I was listening, and the way he spoke to her was pointless because there was no reason to say that to her since she didn't actually do anything wrong when he was discussing the business with her, he just used abusive words to her and I remember he was like 'don't tell me how to run my business' it seems he has a passion for saying this to his workers. The next day she never came to work there again.

He tends to say that a lot. People running his business, don't be surprised if it happened to you cause it happened before

He came upstairs and told us once that he signed up a woman that he previously went in the house and the woman recognised him and accused him of being rude, he said he signed her up. Really?! I don't think so.

If its anything like the one I went to, (Strategic 5 Marketing) you'll be worse off than on the dole. You'll be paying to get there and back every day, as well as paying for a daily bus pass every day, or several train tickets per day, and be paid nothing what so ever. You will be told to go door to door and 'Dont take no as an answer' regardless of who the people are. A poor old elderly couple, a man who could barely walk, and a woman living in a council house with several children, and youll make them sign up to things purely because they are too nice to slam the door in your face. You will get back to the office after a long day - much longer than the 10am-7pm that the job description promised, feeling guilty and upset with yourself. only to be told "That's sales and if people are stupid enough to fall for it they deserve to be scammed" given a hi-five, but no money... for the first about two months. Finally you will get some money based on what you sell, but if you do not make enough sales you will get nothing - and you will have paid about £20 per day working there on the travel, food, drink etc. Working five days a week, that adds up to £100. Even if you managed to make £250 in a week - which, you won't, trust me. But that is still only £150 a week. They get out of the legal issue because you sign a document saying you are self-employed and not working for anyone, therefore you are not entitled to minimum wage.

you're interviews were most likely not interviews as well, they accept absolutely everyone who applies, immediately. You could send them a C.V with the worst grades ever, tons of swear words, and sentences saying you hate sales and hate people and have terrible customer skills, it doesn't matter - they won't read them.

who cares if people say its a scam. they probably are scams. so write as many comments as you like and don't be sorry about it.

if you had brains you would pay weekly, and work harder, if they dont pay you for your work demand them to, if you didn't make sales don't complain. if you want to get paid work harder, if they treated you badly report them.

simple.
