Called home line and mobile then hung up immediately on both.

My wife just said they called the home phone, then the mobile before even hanging up on the home phone.

They claimed she was owed money, by Dixons or Currys when she queried it. We have nothing on credit from either of them, and never have.

Very suspicious.

Have had numerous calls recently from 0161 numbers, if you call the numbers back, you get a constant engaged tone. Spoke for the first time this evening, wanted to speak to another member of
my family about a 'credit refund', when I asked for more details, she was not very polite. The number the call was from was 01614781080

i,v recently started getting calls on my mobile phone from this number 3,4 times a day ,then hang up when you answer it,..is ther anything i can do to stop it.

this number is to do with Claims Advisory Group, touting for business on ppi claims etc.

Called my mob an hung up?  tried to CB and engaged...

Just ran to answer my mobile on my desk at work - only rang a couple of times then stopped.  Checked call log and no. calling was 01614781080.  Didn't recognise it so 'googled' and found this thread.  I WON'T be calling them back.  Thanks everyone.

i have been havin these calls for last 2 days now on both landline an mobile they put phone down when i answer an when i ring bac i just get automated message tellin me to hold the line an will b answered shortly wont b ringin them bac again

I just answered a call to this number and she said something about a refund to do with loans - 'Claims Advisory' or something.  When I queried where she was calling from she was quite abrupt and when she asked me for some personal information I said I did not want to divulge any information so she just hung up!
I've mised a few phone calls from a 0161 number before.

Just had a missed call from 0161 478 1080, not one I recognised so I googled it and found this advice. Thanks everyone, I'm glad I didn't call back.

That's interesting to know, thanks for that! I just had a call from these people also, asking for an Amy whom does not live at my house or ever will be. Which is just getting annoying because this is the umpteenth time this has happened.

I had a mis-call from these people yesterday and when I called back they said they could help me claim back ppi.  All they asked for was 39% if the claim was successful !!!

I asked and they gave me the name of the company that gave them my number.  I've reported that company to the TPS.  It's worth you asking.  It's the only way to stop companies passing on such info without your permission.

Anyway, with regard to the hang up thing, this happens because the big companies use auto diallers and if there's no one there when you answer the phone, it's because there isn't an agent available to speak to you when you answer.  

It is really annoying , more so when you do speak to someone and they're rude to you - no excuse for that - but please remember that the majority of people who are making these calls are just trying to make a living, and it's a crappy job - think about the abuse they get - but at least they are working and not just sitting around because they would rather claim unemployment benefits.

I've had 4 missed calls today from this number, 3 on mobile and at least 1 on landline, thanks to this I won't be answering their calls!!

Daily I receive a call from this number even after telling them I'm not interested
I have taken the advice of Getridofthem dated the 01/12/10 and sent them a copy of the email. Will see if this does the trick.

Do not call any number they give - if you owe money be sure people will write to you, not phone. I've just had a call from this number on my mobile and think it might be connected with this warning that's going round:
The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:

A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a Premium rate number).

DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.

If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £315 for the phone call.
