do you think i should pay the clements agency limited a fee to reduce my business rates and why dont companies other than cvs do it on a results based commission of less than 50% then as i have concerns about doing this and if this company has been reducing business rates for four years why can't i find any good reviews about them

Just contact the Valuation Office direct as you can appeal against your rateable value yourself on their website WHICH IS FREE OF CHARGE which will save you from wasting any more of your time or money.

there are hundreds of dismissed appeals cos people try to do it themselves and unless it is straight forward its not as easy as they all say. If a measurement is wrong you can just call them out but if its trying to get an allowance or a challenge to the tone or its already been withdrawn or dismissed its not so easy to do yourself. The property description can also assist like insulation for factories or merging or splitting properties.... So it teally is best for companies who specialise to do this and there are many put there who are good...fee paying or no win no fee. People just have to accept it is process that costs to do and not all appeals are sucessful...

be careful's who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones and it is clear from your comments you are The Clements agency group aka hammer properties with your feeble attempts to justify all the fees you have taken over the years from small business owners. Again don't part with your money, report them to trading standards and contact the valuation office.

And sometimes people have to accept that the majority of these companies are just frauds. Nothing more, nothing less. Nice try though.

Hammer Properties were engaged by me and they got me a substantial reduction of c £100k which resulted in a rebate of nearly £500k , how can anyone say this is not a great company is beyond me ??

Sure they did, that's why you posted a positive testimonial about them on a thread that isn't even primarily concerned or connected with that company. Only a troll, or someone with an inside knowledge about the shadier side of this industry would do this. There are other threads on this site about Hammer and their more recent incarnation Clemency, so why not post your glowing review there? Seems like there's nothing 'truthful' about your reply at all.

So lets clear this up once and for all: NO WIN NO FEE: except in cases where the measurements are obviously wrong most cases have a range of potential sucess. There are some with a small chance up to some that have a very good chance. In order to have sucess we must all agreed there needs to be a degree of work carried out and that level of work increases if it is a difficult case and if it has to go beyond being discussed in a programme and actually go on to a hearing. If the eventual outcome is not sucessful who pays for the work carried out and will that company continue looking for other grounds and ways of achieving sucess taking the chance these cases may require more work with the possibility of no sucess. THEREFORE IT BECOMES FAIRLY OBVIOUS: either the work isn't done and fingers cross there is a reduction to charge for or everyone who gets a reduction pays ridiculously high fees to cover the cost of the work.  This is why there is normally a policy for no win no fee only to take on the bigger RV's and to charge fifty percent of the entire reduction.

FEE PAYING: normally the fees cover all the work over a period of the assessment and represent the cost of employing a proper chartered surveyor to deal with the case(s). Upon sucess there is normally a small commission as a one off and this is true of any subsequent savings. The issue here is that while it is much cheaper upon sucess people feel aggrieved if the outcome does not show a reduction. When you buy a product you can see what you get but a service is different and it's harder to recognise that everything comes at a cost. There is also the issue that there is no chartered surveyor doing any work.....

Another issue is that people with no win no fee who don't see sucess feel thats ok because it hasn't cost them anything but what they can't say for sure is was the work actually done. Do peole really work for nothing remember and is there a reduction in there that perhaps needed a bit of real work or the refund would be small and while benificial to them of no value to the company.

And then you get the idiots on these sites who keep saying do it yourself..... Well unless its cos your measurements are obviously wrong it aint that easy and you could actually be under assessed and therefore your rates will go up. It does cost nothing to submit the appeal but then you have to gather and present evidence and even go to a hearing having prepared a statement of case.  More idiots who didn't understand vent their frustrations and anger and then there are the stalwarts who trawl every site like this sitting and waiting to make comments which are mainly adverse and in some cases just personal abuse. You have the likes of one guy who sees himself as some sort of business rates super hero and he is linked to all the ratings sites constantly slagging everyone off under many user names when in reality he then goes after any people complaining offering to deal with it therefore using the sites as data. He asks for their post codes....look for him! He also claims that you don't need to be a chartered surveyor but then he would as he is not one. There are people who come on here for fun and some who think it is a truly valuable site. IT REALLY CAN'T be if anyone can say anything and it is immediately uploaded never to be removed. Try it! Just look at the unrelated nonsense on all of these sites.

As with hospital treatment you can only speak as you find ... People who get reductions are happy and those who don't are not...the views of people repeating themselves constantly on these sites are suspect as why do they continually trawl these sites, almost daily looking for reasons to make a comment...bit OCD! "axes to grind"....against companies that deceive and rip people off? There are countless threads on this site detailing how people have been conned by these companies. Whatever your point is, you cannot deny what has and is going on in this industry.

If CVS only charge on a no win no fee basis what is your problem with this?

Why are there so many disgruntled CVS customers?

If the only problem with CVS was the fact that this greedy company charge 50% on a no win no fee basis over a five year period, yes that is bad, but the main complaint about CVS at the moment is, that they want more than the five years which customers had signed up to!  CVS want an extra two years!!!  So, let's be clear, that's just greedy, so no wonder CVS customers feel unhappy...  Nothing short of a scam, and a rip off!

Who is the greedy one , the one who gets savings for the 7 years that they would not have received had CVS not got them a reduction and cry that they have to pay for the services of the company that got them the 7 years savings .
Greedy small business owners , that's why they are precisely that - small business owners .
Don't see too many corporates in here - why - because they have brains and business acumen and would rather get on with running their business than sitting watching stupid sites like this for someone to vent their frustrated anger at .
