- yet more thoughts replies to Question| 7 repliesIf this is in the contract which as a business owner should have been read very carefully before signing the agreement then CVS/any other company has done nothing wrong and it's as simple as that and it's no good moaning about it later so just get on with your life and count the money you have had back due to the reduction that was obtained for you and pay what you owe and stop wasting your time on this stupid site.
- Curious replies to yet more thoughts| 5 repliesAnd what about the people whose rates have gone up due to cvs negligence.should they sue.
- yet more thoughts replies to Curious| 4 repliesAgain it depends what is in the contract but if it states that the rates can go up, down or remain the same then there is nothing you can do. This would be no different than any of the main banks who will advise you to put your money in stocks and shares as they would state exactly the same and that's just a risk that one takes i'm afraid.
- Curious replies to yet more thoughts| 2 repliesYour comparison to stocks and shares is rather tenuous to say the least.Buying shares is a gamble just like backing a horse.Being advised to put in a rating appeal without the correct information is negligence.I have no issue with cvs as they employ some very good surveyors. However you have to take responsibility if you have advised incorrectly, whether that be financial or otherwise.
- Lindsey replies to yet more thoughtsWould you trust a company who main shareholder/director was imprisoned for his involvement with two multi million pound fraud companies (Oldfields and Strattons)? Well, would you?
- Columbo replies to Curious| 1 replyhave you noticed how over a bank holiday weekend you are on tv alot...dated and contrived but still watchable.....
- heartless lurker replies to ColumboHow may 'corporate companies' have a website that lists ALL their directors....? CVS list their directors with one tiny exception, the sales director who has remained with the business despite being a convicted fraudster, step out of the shadows Mr Tony Dardis. What could possibly be the reason for not letting their site visitors know who their SD is?
- heartless lurkerCVS's claim of £600m savings is a complete sham. If they netted the figure with all the increases they had caused as a result of mis-advised claims it would be less than half! Use a reputable firm such as Gerald Eve, Colliers or LSH rather than spiv fraudsters like CVS and others who have sprung up like RVA trying to imitate them.

- heartless lurker| 11 repliesAll being well George Osborne has knackered outfits like CVS. They are on their chin straps desperate to get to April 2017 because they have no worthwhile new rates claims to pursue until then. Hence the insertion of 'Rent' in to their title. I believe they have shed around 50 staff from their HQ since April. Dardis is still there though.

- Ls17 6sz replies to heartless lurker| 10 repliesAnd interestingly I beleive most of the sales staff that CVS have shed have turned up at Colliers. Another scam waiting to happen no doubt
- RICS replies to Ls17 6sz| 9 repliesColliers have the identical business model to CVS yet this site appears to label them as "credible"
VO stats in fact show that Colliers have a worse success rate than CVS I.e only 1 in 3 of their appeals produce a reduction compared to CVS at 1 in 2
Their increases in RV on appeals lodged are also much higher that any other agent.
It is the whole industry that needs a shake up
Colliers credible - don't make me laugh - Ls17 6sz replies to RICS| 8 repliesAs I've alluded to before if you have the right software you can obtain the exact information on every one of these firms results, successes, increases Etc . It makes for very interesting reading.
- heartless lurker replies to Ls17 6sz| 7 repliesHere we go again CVS trying to muddy the waters. Talk is cheap!!!! .and as usual try and claim other more REPUTABLE firms behave the same way .. Which is nonsense .

- once and for all| 4 repliesSo lets clear this up once and for all: NO WIN NO FEE: except in cases where the measurements are obviously wrong most cases have a range of potential sucess. There are some with a small chance up to some that have a very good chance. In order to have sucess we must all agreed there needs to be a degree of work carried out and that level of work increases if it is a difficult case and if it has to go beyond being discussed in a programme and actually go on to a hearing. If the eventual outcome is not sucessful who pays for the work carried out and will that company continue looking for other grounds and ways of achieving sucess taking the chance these cases may require more work with the possibility of no sucess. THEREFORE IT BECOMES FAIRLY OBVIOUS: either the work isn't done and fingers cross there is a reduction to charge for or everyone who gets a reduction pays ridiculously high fees to cover the cost of the work. This is why there is normally a policy for no win no fee only to take on the bigger RV's and to charge fifty percent of the entire reduction.
FEE PAYING: normally the fees cover all the work over a period of the assessment and represent the cost of employing a proper chartered surveyor to deal with the case(s). Upon sucess there is normally a small commission as a one off and this is true of any subsequent savings. The issue here is that while it is much cheaper upon sucess people feel aggrieved if the outcome does not show a reduction. When you buy a product you can see what you get but a service is different and it's harder to recognise that everything comes at a cost. There is also the issue that there is no chartered surveyor doing any work.....
Another issue is that people with no win no fee who don't see sucess feel thats ok because it hasn't cost them anything but what they can't say for sure is was the work actually done. Do peole really work for nothing remember and is there a reduction in there that perhaps needed a bit of real work or the refund would be small and while benificial to them of no value to the company.
And then you get the idiots on these sites who keep saying do it yourself..... Well unless its cos your measurements are obviously wrong it aint that easy and you could actually be under assessed and therefore your rates will go up. It does cost nothing to submit the appeal but then you have to gather and present evidence and even go to a hearing having prepared a statement of case. More idiots who didn't understand vent their frustrations and anger and then there are the stalwarts who trawl every site like this sitting and waiting to make comments which are mainly adverse and in some cases just personal abuse. You have the likes of one guy who sees himself as some sort of business rates super hero and he is linked to all the ratings sites constantly slagging everyone off under many user names when in reality he then goes after any people complaining offering to deal with it therefore using the sites as data. He asks for their post codes....look for him! He also claims that you don't need to be a chartered surveyor but then he would as he is not one. There are people who come on here for fun and some who think it is a truly valuable site. IT REALLY CAN'T be if anyone can say anything and it is immediately uploaded never to be removed. Try it! Just look at the unrelated nonsense on all of these sites.
As with hospital treatment you can only speak as you find ... People who get reductions are happy and those who don't are not...the views of people repeating themselves constantly on these sites are suspect as why do they continually trawl these sites, almost daily looking for reasons to make a comment...bit OCD! They are actually hooked on looking waiting for anew entry to make comment on.
I have posted this advice on every ratings site and would encourage people to read through and see for themselves the rubbish and the obvious personal abuse blogged by people with axes to grind. - hahah replies to once and for all| 1 replySo everyone reading any of these sites needs to be very careful of a company called THE UTILITY BILL HELPLINE. They probably do a good job for consumers switching their energy suppliers and telephones etc but they are not to be used for rates or rents and ESPECIALLY for getting money back if you think you have been scammed. THEY ARE ACTUALLY CARRYING OUT A BIGGER SCAM: so they see from the VOA website that your case was not agreed OR FOR NO WIN NO FEE call the contract into question and then call you saying the company acting for you (any of them) is fraudulent and they will help you get your money back: they charge a monthly payment of £30 and then advise how to make a charge back from the card provider. The problem is how do they know it was fraudulent…the terms of the contract; the work carried out! Do they advise you to write to the company first or ask to look at the contract? More importantly to make a claim for a charge back is something you can do for nothing and no third party should be involved. Therefore you sign to what they state perjuring yourself and if this is discovered you will be in big trouble with the bank. Then there is also the possibility that you wont get the money back from the card provider or you may get it initially and then have it taken back if the company challenges your claim or the bank discovers there is a third party making the claim on your behalf. SO THIS BIT OF WHAT THEY SAY THEY WILL DO IS A SCAM UPON A SCAM…… meanwhile you are paying them £30 a month for nothing….this company’s director was actually the director of a rates company up north and hence knows the game…..VERY WORRYING. Trading Standards in Havering and Paypal have been advised but while they are sorting this be careful.
