- Me again replies to R CutterHow many months do you predict until they'll fold? They must be looking into setting up another company now that their name has been so badly tarnished within the industry? Are they losing a lot of staff? Is all this bad press effecting their sales badly?
- BCWYWF| 74 repliesWish full thinking maybe .. They have just opened a new Bristol office there recruiting for staff across all major job sites if you look if you also do your homework they have more appeals outstanding than any other firm in the country unfortunately you may be waiting a long time
- bertie replies to BCWYWF| 73 repliesThey have just opened a new Bristol office - incorrect, they have had a presence in Bristol for 4 years
there (sic) recruiting for staff across all major job sites if you look - because they can't retain staff, overall headcount is down
if you also do your homework they have more appeals outstanding than any other firm in the country - they lodge more than anyone else so that is no surprise. They also don't like withdrawing appeals and will let them all get listed for tribunal, regardless of the prospects. Their surveyors are under unbelievable pressure and will look to postpone, re-list, postpone again, re-list again to 'manage' their workloads and this is unfair to their clients who are usually told it is the VO who have postponed. Clients who continue to cling to the ridiculous notion that CVS will get them a reduction 2 years after instruction. - BCWYWF replies to bertie| 72 repliesCalm down ..read my post carefully and who
I responded too I know it may have hit a nerve.
Fact .. They have just opened a new Bristol office (another one) that doesn't suggest a firm who are going somewhere in 2 months
If you look at the job sites and staff they are looking for that again doesn't suggest there scaling down quite the opposite
The fact they have more appeals than any other firm irrelevant of the detail of why and where or what you think of the model etc also tells you they won't be going anywhere soon because the VO will take 2 years to work there appeals - Wendy replies to BCWYWF| 71 repliesThey always had a presence in Bristol, even when they were operating as Oldfields. Did they try nto reestablish a presence in Northern Ireland again, or did they let that one die it's natural death? Newcastle was a branch they were previously proud of from a sales persepective - do they still have an office there?
- INTERESTING replies to WendyWell done you know some history .
I think what they are trying to say is if you look at the situation with any intelligence there not a business going anywhere. Certainly not in 2 months - Interested replies to Wendy| 69 repliesThey do indeed have a satellite office in Newcastle but no longer in NI.
They have released the salespeople as there are no appeals that can be backdated anymore so no agents in the country are currently selling.
All agents are now waiting for the new rating list which opens up next year and dealing with the massive backlog of appeals at the VO.
I understand CVS have not yet settled half of all their appeals so have more than enough to keep them going until the next list.
Many of their competitors have virtually no appeals left to settle so are bang in trouble.
I too wish CVS would disappear but I'm afraid it's wishful thinking as they are in a stronger position than all other agents due to their massive stock of appeals which I understand is bigger than all other agents put together !! - fat lottie replies to Interesteddo they chuff! they have 1 in 6, which while a lot is not more than all the other agents put together! If they were so secure they wouldn't be scrambling to pick up rent review business now.
- Idiots replies to Interested| 67 repliesSo the nevw rating list is not next year but the year after. Als of course you can still put appeals in...its not just about backdating but about getting the assessment correct tooo and you can still back date by VON
- Linda Crosby replies to Justice for victimshow do you know the contract is not watertight please
- Rating Reform replies to Idiots| 66 repliesIn the Telegraph article the Government commented on CVS activities in that it would make sure that "excess profits" could not be earned. Could they be thinking of outlawing contingency based fees for rating appeals? That would wipe out CVS. Or maybe they will require full details of someones case when making an appeal. Or make it like the Small Claims Court. And then the RICS may decide to ban Chartered Surveyors being involved with telemarketing operations to deal with operations like CVS. Indeed how could any professional organisation permit telemarketing
- upset lady replies to Justiceforvictims| 1 replyneed help with claim CVS ? can you help?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysect ... -treatment.html - Idiot replies to Rating ReformThe AA, RAC, all banks, and are you saying its better to pay a fee and not no win no fee....and what about what anyone charges for anything are the government going to make sure they dont charge excessive amounts or are they just selecting companies dealing with rates... Really... Better they waste their time bringing in a law about plastic bags.... Oh they did!
- Iii replies to Rating Reform| 1 replySo the government cant stop the energy companies or bt making excessive profits so they are really going to give this attention....in your dreams
- imma replies to IiiThey will give it attention and are doing so because the same director had previously been imprisoner for fraud for his dealings with CVS and Strattons.
- Rating Reform replies to Hmmm| 61 repliesNo, if you read the article in the Telegraph it mentions CVS directly and, until CVS tried the "extra 2 years trick" none of this became an issue. Other rating firms do charge on a success basis and have done for years but has never been an issue because those fees are probably proportionate. It is understandable that if a firm like CVS uses questionable terms and conditions to extract 50% of 7 years saving in rates on reductions that it doesn't even agree and are given to businesses automatically with no CVS involvement, the Government might consider that to be excess profits and have an issue with that. Who, apart from CVS, wouldn't have an issue with that?
- MRICS replies to Rating Reform| 60 repliesIt is a fact in the industry that EVERY agent is charging for the full 7 years and why wouldn't they as their clients have had a full 7 years of savings.
To suggest otherwise is an absolute untruth so why don't we stick to the facts and the truth and maybe someone will take this site seriously . - Curious replies to MRICS| 57 repliesThat is untrue, they do not.The other point you must address is how many other reputable firms put appeals in without inspecting the premises. This leaves their clients totally exposed to a possible increase in their rateable value. This has happened on a number of occasions.
