- Mrics replies to ex CVS Surveyor| 5 repliesWhat, like someone posing to be from the gas board tricking their way into an unsuspecting persons home you mean?
- anon jl replies to Mrics| 4 repliesDo you guys have nothing better to do with your dreary lives ? Do you not realise that this site is only found if you really dig for it ? Anyone searching CVS on Google/Bing/Yahoo would not get to this moronic review site full of CVS competitors jealous of their success.
I have actually more reason than most to be anti CVS but credit where credit is due they have revolutionised the industry and i beleive are now even shotlisted for the Estates Gazette National Property Advisor of the Year award.
How is this possible if they are simply crooks ?????? - MRICS3 replies to anon jlInterestingly searching for "CVS Business Rates" on Google brings this thread up on the first page. I presume the more comments that are made the higher up the search engine results it will show. Not what I would class as "really digging for it".
You're also the only person I've ever heard who has described them as having "revolutionised the industry" as well. Jealous of their success? Not really, we could all do the same if we threw our morals out of the window. - RICSMEMBER1 replies to anon jlRevolutionised the industry? The Strattons fraud, and we all know that CVS used to be Strattons, was one of the catalysts to the creation of the Rating Consultancy Code of Practice designed to stamp out the practices of the likes of Strattons. That is why the owner of Strattons, who I understand still owns CVS, went to prison as part of that fraud. CVS's approach is not fraudulent but is basically like a PPI or Double Glazing hard sell. Telesales operators masquerading as rating experts trawling the rating list and cold calling with all sorts of false promises. That is why there are 10 pages of complaints on this site and I understand that many RICS firms complain as their clients are constantly pestered by CVS salesmen. No doubt that the actions of CVS will lead to a revision of the Rating Code in time.
CVS/Strattons have indeed revolutionised the industry but not in any way that could be considered to be positive or in the public interest - Justiceforvictims replies to GET A LIFECarry on thinking I am from Birmingham and I have no interest in the business rate sector.this is probably the equivalent of your knowledge of the rating game.
- Savedme12000| 2 repliesThey saved me over 12000 on my hotel business rates. Billed me and I happily paid for their service. Someone with clients like royal ascot, DKNY, McDonald's, Aston Martin, Dorchester Hotel, sage it's hard to see the criminal undertone that people think exists with such hight profile clients who you know have expert legal teams....

A veiled threat there perhaps? It's not really hard to see who the majority share holder of CVS is, or what his criminal past is either. Come on now. You can do better than that, surely? - oldhaggardfailedsurveyorwoman replies to MRICS4get a life
- Justiceforvictims replies to anon jl| 1 replyWell the good news is that they never won the estates gazette award.that may be down to the fact that a number of people complained to the estates gazette that they should have never been nominated in the first place.remember your past always catches up with you.
- jj replies to JusticeforvictimsIndeed, money may buy them influence, but the past will always out!
- dave Evans replies to PhysiowiseCvs surveyors are the wrong company to go to. If you want your business rates reduced go to someone like altus Edwin hill or Gerald eve. Cvs have ex cons on the board of directors who have been to jail for business rates fraud. Chances are your rates will go up as they show no due diligence to the service they provide. One lucky customer in Wales had their rates go up up 200k. That's one of many issues they face. Their sales guys will promise you the world just to hit sales targets but have no idea how rates work. Warning. Stay away!

- Justiceforvictims| 4 repliesAs many of you are aware I have been fighting a campaign against certain rating firms.cvs have not been top of my list as they don't charge up front fees unlike certain firms from Manchester, southport and Essex who are top of my list.perhaps messrs Clarke and dardis learnt from their time in jail.however the problem is they put in as many appeals as possible as they are playing the numbers game without doing proper research.the ford pub holmfirth is a classic example.before cvs came on the scene the rv was £27000.following their appeal the rv jumped to£46000 although it has been reduced to£33600 still higher than originally.this is not the first time it has happened.considering they state they are experts this is appalling.any comments cvs.
- fdet replies to Justiceforvictims| 3 repliesOf course Dardis and Clarke never learnt their lesson - that's why they reentered this industry as soon as they came out of prison. They just had a bit of time off - courtesy of her majesty - so they could revise their business plan and think of new ways to scam people. They have managed to do this without an upfront fee, but they do not like the fact that they have been identified as fraudsters and criminals on these sites.
- Justiceforvictims replies to fdet| 2 repliesWell it's tough cheese that they have been identified.they should have been more careful.the other major point that clients should be aware of,is their fee structure.fifty percent of each years saving possibly for seven years.i don't know any firm that has a similar fee structure.
- fdet replies to Justiceforvictims| 1 replyAnd that is why they are scammers.
- Justiceforvictims replies to fdetThanks for your comments.regarding the other firms that I have mentioned I will be upping the ante shortly.however regarding cvs there is little I can do at the moment except to tell people not to use them.the great shame is that they do have one or two good surveyors working for them but it is their modes operandi which disgusts me.how did mark rugby ex chief executive of lambert smith Hampton ,a very reputable firm get into bed with Jason Peter Clarke.
- Justiceforvictimsthe next trick from this firm is that they are now trying to charge for the extended period from 2015 to 2017.under no circumstances should any client pay them for this period if they had signed up before the govt had announced a deferral of the next valuation.just say hypothetically the govt decided to defer the next valuation until 2025,would this mean you would have to pay them until then.of course not.this is immoral, unethical and certainly would not stand up in a court of law.if you are being threatened by this firm with court action please report them to the rics and the media.greed knows no bounds.
- Very interested| 5 repliesJust listened to a radio program and heard of a guy who got a restaurant in Leeds a reduction and £14000 back all in three weeks from start to finish! Been trying to find him but hes not registedwith RIC's or has a website so don't know how folks reach him. I think he may be from leeds as the restaurant was in leeds town centre but when I type his name in with Leeds as a tag only some old git who tried to challenge the smoking ban back in 2011 comes up and I dont think this can be him and a dissolved property company which might be. Has anyone used a Steven Simon to appeal there rates and how can I get hold of him and is he a chartered surveyor cos the program said you should only use surveyors who are members of RIC....

- Justicefor victim| 1 replyhas anyone noticed that on these sites there are ads for companies to do your business rates. One of these is simon alexander trading as smallbusinessraterelief.org and they appear to be charging for doing retail relief and sbr which I thought was just completing a one page form and popping in the post to the council? Surely they are not charging a nowin no fee amount for this?
