They phoned again today(guild of will writers), explained that i have sent a couple of emails through their contact link on their website asking them to stop phoning me. Also reported the number to ofcom again. You wont be able to ring back on the number that rings you as it is only for outgoing calls, there is a contact number on their website but it is an 0870 number, so i wouldn't bother with that as it will cost you, just bombard them with e-mails, i have had one reply, and report them to OFCOM!!

Had this number call earlier today. When I answered there was actually someone else on the line! They wanted to speake to my parents (knew them by name), but I said they were out...

Got a call here this afternoon, was by the phone this time, but got cut off as soon as I answered it.
I phoned OFCOM on 020 7981 3040 who then gave me a reference number. Once you have this number (and only then) you call BT on 0800 731 2762. BT then tell you that there's nothing illegal in getting 5 calls a day with no-one at the other end. Annoying, but not illegal. However, if you are with BT, they will offer you 3 months free service of Choose to Refuse, which works well. They also suggested calling the TPS, especially if you are registered with them: http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/

Now, onto the meaty bit - the company name is Cost (UK) Ltd, and here's what I found:

I just got a call from these numpties too, I said hello and got no reply, then they hung up after a few seconds. So I typed their number into Google after dialing 1471 and found this page, so here I am. What's the f*cking point in ringing me and hanging up? I mean, the f*ckwits didn't even try and sell me anything. What happened to the good old days of cold callers? The days where you let them give you their best sales pitch, only to tell them to f*ck off at the end of it, stupid w*nkers. Yes I am bored today, does it show?

Everyone should pick a random time between say 9-11am on a particular day and we should ring them, if we happen to have something in our throat and need to hang up when they answer so be it.

Who owns this number? They hung up on me.

This organisation has called me six or more
times since Christmas 2007. They are a flaming nuisance who I have attempted to tell not to continue to ring me -I have a Will completed with the help of a local Solicitor and, thus, don`t want their "assistance" - but, when I try to tell them the above, they ring off immediately.

It seems that they shouldn`t be in business at all!

I have taken legal advice about this and am reserving an option of going to the Police.

After I commented on this lot, I received another call on 16/4/08, luckily while I was out - I think this was the 7th since last Christmas!

I have had the number blocked but this costs £10.05(?) a quarter after the first month. This is for BT people so I`m not sure what the situation is fot non-BT people but I assume a similar service exists.

The Police didn`t seem terribly interested as I assume that, as the calls were only(!) once a fortnight or so and there were no threats, it wasn`t actionable as harassment.

Another silent call from Medway 01634 but a different number from the one that called with a silent call a few days ago.  When I call back the number is always engaged.  My sister also lives on 01634 so initially I wrongly thought it was connected to her.

The number that called the other day was 01634 360523.  Also listed on this website but making less silent calls than this 01634 386678 number it would appear.

I will report it to bloody useless Ofcom who as usual will do precisely nothing at all!

I have received a call from this number before today, but they just hang up as soon as theycall is answered.

Got a call from a guy on this number at 20:50 06/05/08 purporting to be from British Gas, asking for me by name, then "is your fridge running".  He said it twice after which I told him he didn't sound like British Gas, whereapon he hung up. There seemed to be somebody in the background finding it all very amusing.

Called today  - sounded like a call centre, no one spoke, they just hung up.
Called it back but it was engaged

Some idiot on that number called, asked for the head of the household then bizarrely a dial tone started so I just hung up. These guys always call at 5:30 - 6pm when I'm in the middle of cooking. I've registered with the TPS many time but the only calls they seem to stop are the legitimate calls from my bank, everyone else just ignores them.

Call most days, can you do nothing about these people.

Got a call early evening today.  Caller said this is Jonathan from Drugsline and that they were doing a survey and asked if I had tried different types of drugs to which I replied No.  Then he was very obscene with his next comment.  I rung the police with the number and they said they cant do anything.  Im flabbergasted, being that they have a phone number and it cant be traced to an actual person.  Suppose police not interested as they dont make any money on it - not like nicking motorists!

I live at that address, found all these comments by googleing address, i have lived heree a year now.  The company belongs to the previous owner.  Sorry but nothing to do with me.

I've also had this number call several times. It's like someone listens to me in silence then slams the phone down whic is really creepy! Googled itand am releived to know it's a common problem. How can I block the number? any ideas?

im not saying my name but i work for the guild of will writers and all the people out there saying harrasment and bogus calls and were not a real company its a load of bollocks we get paid to try and sort out your future for your loved ones once you are gone .. some people might not care about their jobs as much as i do but we ring to ask if you want a free consulatation. the database we use is rather slow and freezes alot so if we dont answer staright away we do apologise just get over yourselfs your writing on a website about calls you get have you got nothing better to do ????????
