this number has called 3 times this week now.always silence from them when answered.its driving my wife mad.

They are calling us 17 times per day -- for over three years!!!  I previously blocked them using BT Choose to Refuse, but BT informs me they are a switchboard, and so may still get through.  Telephone Preference promises to REDUCE the number of sales calls, not stop them altogether.  As it turned out, a fault deactivated my Choose to Refuse, but it is now working again.

If I listen for about ten seconds, the salesperson would come on and ask for the home owner.  Then I tell them -- for the fortieth time this week -- to remove our number from their list.  

They obviously do not, and hopefully the steps I took today will rid us of them.

Incidentally, BT tells me they are called COST UK LTD.  

Perhaps we can all unite together against them!

this is driving me crazy,every night i get a phone call from 01634 386678 just mumberling and then hanging up.
normally i get it at 8.00 in the morning,but the other night my son came walking through the door at 12.00 and answered them and they said something like buck up
its like im getting torcherd every time of the day
but i recern that someone is using this companys name,but i dont know who but if i find out who,believe me i will send my bostrous german sheperd on him or her

I'd suggest also registering a complaint with OFCOM, they wont investigate individual complaints but if there is a significant number of complaints against the same company they will pursue

Called on Thursday at 3.30pm.  Silent, but background noise.  What can be done to stop these people?  It's unnerving at best.

jolly useful thanks.  Phone them and they were most upset about what is being said about them (do we REALLY believe they haven't looked themselves up on the net).  we shall see if their promise to 'supress' my number actually happens!

I have been pestered by this number for over a year now, about every 2 weeks or so, any time of the day, no-one speaks and if I do call back I always get engaged. However, I've just tried to call the number (at midnight), it rang & answered but all I got was strange noises like someone playing a shoot-em-up game on a computer! I have also just reported it to OFCOM.

Got a call here this afternoon from 01634 386678 was by the phone this time, but got cut off as soon as I answered it.
I phoned OFCOM on 020 7981 3040 who then gave me a reference number. Once you have this number (and only then) you call BT on 0800 731 2762. BT then tell you that there’s nothing illegal in getting 5 calls a day with no-one at the other end. Annoying, but not illegal. However, if you are with BT, they will offer you 3 months free service of Choose to Refuse, which works well. They also suggested calling the TPS, especially if you are registered with them: http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/

hi. i am an ex employee of these guys and everything u guys have sed is true, i worked there for 2 months and was disgusted by the working environment. the thing is its not mature adults working there. its just kids from the ages of 16-19. the managing staff is atrocious and i reccomend that they are shut down for good. they rip the custumer and the employees of to within an inch of their wallets.

Yet again another call from this number, getting fed up now as there's never anyone on the end of the line!!! This is the first time I though of trying to find out who was calling me and I cant believe the comments I've found, I don't think they give a sh*t so you'll never stop them, hey ho.

you can't call the number back as it's a computer that calls you.
Don't ring that number back ring the centre direct.
You can complain to a number of staff:

Steve Dixon (although he isn't EVER in the office unless the staff are to get a telling off!)

Most of the staff are 16-19 that is correct.
Their working hours are 9 - 9 weekdays and 10 - 4 on saturdays.

Staff get minimum wage for being shouted at and abused. It is not the callers fault that you are being called, it's Lynn's fault! She's the one that ignores TPS and BT's letters. Always getting complaints, trust me.

If you get a call, please remember that it's the supervisors you should be shouting at. Spare a second for the 'bumph'

I work there and we usually laugh at people who claim to be solicitors. If people are rude, they are called back the next day or in the evening for a laugh

Well i have read all your complaints and yes i have worked there!! Its not the peoples fault who are calling you, We do get a hell alot of abuse from people, But we were just doing what we were told and paid to do, Its the worst place ever, half the people working there are all ok! You can have a laugh but obviously get B*******d for it, U cant go to the loo unless its in your 5 minute break, u cant turn around you just have to sit there and stare at a computer day in day out!! So all you people out there spare a thought for those poor people at The Guild Of Will Writers!!!
