Silent call from this number 1948 20 Mar 2012

I am getting calls from this number but they will not tell me who they are or what they what.

had many calls from these ppl, I google the number and came here. the last call my 5 year son picked up the phone, they asked him for mine and my wifes names, I took the phone of my son and asked who they where, they hung up.

Is there no way of getting these people shut down ?

very narrow minded answer - first of all the percentage of people scamming the dole, benefits system is very low and given the amount of dole is, and that it usually does not cover living expenses never mind the portion that should be paid to council tax

we need to get a system where people are given the help they need to get jobs, and dole should be for a limited amount of time then the government should provide work to help build the UK economy


do not blame people who have lost or find it hard to get a job for whatever reason because you are to stupid to work out for yourself that the system is broken

while people should pay their debts we need to provide an environment that can help.

if you were to loose your job and you had a family to support you would do what you could - political will is not there for whatever reason we need to stop and take stock other nations are now flying past the UK at an alarming rate and we continue to have are heads up are backside.

borrowing money from my unborn grandchildren to give to nations that have space programs needs to be looked at. while i do not want anyone to starve or go without especially children we need to be in credit before we give away cash

You obviously know nothing about Rossendales or the disreputable and criminal activities carried out by  them and companies of a similar ilk. Before going off on a rant check your facts and you won't look so stupid and ill informed.

I have had dealings with them in the past when I had no debt and they broke into my house without having been to court.

Love this website! Just had a call from this number on my mobile phone - I do not answer numbers that I do not recognise, and I don't give my phone numbers out to all and sundry after previous frequent nuisance calls.

As the phone rang for so long, I was able to pop online to check who it was - and found this before the phone stopped ringing! Needless to say, I didn't bother answering the phone. If it is anything "official" they will have my address and can contact me that way.

These people are ringing me all the time. I ask who`s calling, but they insist on asking for Mr L.
"Who`s calling please?"
"Is that Mr L?"
"And I`m asking who is calling?"
"Are YOU Mr L?
"I ask you AGAIN...who is asking?"
they they waffle and say they will ring back.
On making enquiries its Rossendale ...they been ringing at all hours.

The details of the caller id '01706833772' is; Rossendales Collect. This company has been reported to be in multiple violations of trading regulations and fraud. If you are being harrassed, or called from this number and they are stating anything but the company they are, this is constitutionally Fraud. Do not be a victim, report it to the Police, Office of Fair Trade, Office of Communication.

Debt Collection Agencies are not permitted to use means of Harrassment, Fraud or Agressive Behaviour to obtain the debt. This is called 'Monies by Menace' and is a criminal act.

Used sons name to lure me? Ask me for ref number? I ask if son hurt or hospital? Said can't talk without ref? Worried me sick and I cried? Still no reply and silence? Very. Bad company?

Called at 18:03 claiming to be "Bretts" when they left a message on the phone. Didn't answer as I was at work. Rang them back and it said Rossendale. Spoke to a "James" who was actually polite. He searched for my details and apparently owe no debt to them. The couldnt find my details anywhere. Yet could not explain why they called me.  And as I have no details with them they cannot remove me off their "dialler"! He appologised (Not often this happens) and said our good buys.
How come they are calling me if I have no debt with this company.

These people keep calling me and being rude on the phone. I get at least 2 calls a week which I periodically ignore.  Last week I ad a lady on the phone refusing to tell me who she was or where she was calling from, instead insisting on getting my full name and address before she told me who she were.  I told her to tell me the company she was working for but she refused to do this and I put the phone down.

I today got called by a man who was quite aggressive on the phone insisting on me giving him the first line of my address, or he would not talk to me.  I told him I had nothing to do with him and put the phone down on him.

I do not even know if I owe any money to anybody.  As far as I know, there are no outstanding debts I owe and nobody has written to me saying bailiffs will be instructed.  These people should be put out of business.

got a missed call from this number last night and called it back
They asked for my postcode and as they had phoned me I didnt see why I should give them that - they searched for my nunber on their system and couldnt find any details and again asked for my name and postcode which I didnt give them

Why would they be phoning me???

I have received 2 calls this week from somebody at this number asking to speak to one of my family memberas. When preseed about the details they refuse to discuss saying that it is a private matter. To me it appears to be a? rogue debt collection agency or bailliffs. How to stop these calls?

Came back from holiday and missed the phone, but went to the answer machine - 13 messages all saying "you have been called by Rosendales Collect, we will call back at a later time" - by a computer/recorded woman! Luckily 1471 could trace the number, so I had a look here and got my answer! As a student I don't even pay council tax, but do have a phone as it's cheaper than using my mobile...

In short, do I have anything to worry about? I've unplugged my landline now as don't want a cold call every day! I am also on exdirectory, so how have they got my number?

Called several times and left message on my answer phone saying they had returned our call??? Jus had to brief up the kids on not giving any info away..........

It is possible this organisation is using an auto dialler. They will have operators that have phone in front of them and a computer - the idea is that an autodialler rings any numbers put in until they get a reply. However, if their operators are not ready to conduct the call, your phone will ring and then cut out as operators not able to conduct the call.

Also, if your telephone number was previously used by someone that owes money, you may get calls for someone that you have not heard of.

Them phoning a mobile that hasn't been used long and knowing your number would narrow down who could be calling. Could it be council tax, unpaid bill...

HMRC are using this company. They have a backlog on their computer systems and are sending out demands for fines for taxes filed late. Where their system is lagging, they can have returns sent in, but it hasn't been logged on their system and has generated fines of hundreds of pounds because they will add to it - and it has been sent to collections, people without debts and who have filed their returns could have this  company Rossendales calling to collect a debt you do not owe.

For some it would be better to say who you are and establish that, as if the HMRC have acted in error you may not owe anything and could sort it out - well - if you can get through the HMRC phone system to a human that will put it right. Good luck everyone.

i had a missed call off them today, I didn't recognise the number so I googled it, judging by everyone's comments, they are obviously committing fraud, so iv saved the number and wont be answering any calls from them.
