I live in sheltered housing and to date have received 22 calls from these people, always asking to speak to a person who has never lived in my flat, or any other flat within my complex.
I find the calls very disturbing as I am an elderly man living alone. What can I do, they just won't listen when I tell them that I am not the person they are looking for?
Perhaps a loud whistle to blow down the phone may be the answer.......any other ideas will be gratefully received.

We have had 6 harrassing phone calls and roughly a dozen silent calls from Rossendale Collect 01706833772 within the last fortnight looking for someone we have never heard off who does not and as far as we are aware has never lived at this address.

I have lived at this address for the past 2 years and our telephone is ex-directory. Every time they get through and actually talk they are rude and aggressive but finish the call stating they will remove our number from thier calling list only to call again days later to harrass us all over again.

I am finding this situation very stressful and want to know if there is anything I can do in this situation?

every cold caller and any information seekers out there will now be given this number as my contact phone number. i am filling up every online application i can download and giving this number. ha ha lol. lets see how long they can keep it up

I'm an overseas student and just have been in UK for a short time. My english is not well enough for speaking someone in the phone. My friends and I tried to answer all calling to aviod missing some important phone calls from UKBA or our Uni or some others. I received their phone calls serval times, they always say they need to check my details, such as the first line of my address. They know my name, so I thought they are from some dapartments relating to my living, visa, package, delivery, or something. who knows!  seems that my poor listening is helpful!

i had a call from these people asking for my name and address, i never give my details unless i know who i am talking to, so i asked them what the call was regarding and they was unable to tell me till i could give them my details so i told them no, then he just put the phone down, so i knew this was wrong, then i goggled the number & came along this website, so please bewear.......

second time they've called and not left message.  I called them back the first time and confirmed that I did not owe them money they said I must have been mis dialled.. then why are they ringing again!  They're obviously conmen

had a call 10.18am silent for a minute then asking for a Man i have never heard of this is the second time they have called and its rather annoying on a day off

Rude and aggressive from the second I answered the call. A woman asked me to "confirm" my name, address and date of birth, told me she couldn't tell me what the call was about until I answered her questions, then got very angry when I was reluctant to give out such details to a stranger. I asked her to confirm what she THOUGHT my address was, and she got even more angry. Instant attitude! If they call you, don't answer any questions, wind them up by asking them to confirm THEIR name address and date of birth, over and over.

called me asking for personal information,but would not tell who they were. told them to sod off !

Been getting calls several times a day, I have answered 3 times, they ask for a jennifer gardiner and each and every time i have said no, this is the wrong number, can you take my number off your system, but i still keep getting these calls, i just answered one and spoke to the same guy who was extremely rude and basically started arguing with me when i asked him to take my number off their system. I expect i will continue to recieve these calls, as they have not done what i asked the last 3 times i asked it.

These guys have called me several times, asking to speak to a person who I have never known - but i do know nobody has ever had this number....... Then they ask who they are speaking to and i just 'no' then hang up. One more call and I'll contact the police regarding harrassment etc. Waste of time, effort and energy.

silent call today at 15.53, never had one before but dont know whay they are calling as dont have any debts ! took great delight in calling then and then hanging up on them!!

started calling me a few days ago - answered and asked who they wanted to speak to and what it was regarding. They wouldn't tell me so knew it was dodgy. They ring every morning now and I answer and leave the phone on an open line without saying anything! Let them run up their bill and see how long it takes for them to get fed up.... So far - it's about five days..:-)

Pleasant enough voice but no info as to who they are and not asking for the correct name !   Are they just scoping?

I've received three calls from this company in the last week. They ask for me by name, though they pronounce it strangely, and give only their name (Michael, Ida, ... not naming their company) in return. They then ask me to confirm my address and postcode, by which they mean that I should give them my address and postcode. I refuse to, of course, and we make no progress. At the end of the most recent call I suggested that if they do want to communicate with me they should send a letter to my address. They clearly don’t have my address, though, and are on a phishing expedition.

I don't intend to answer should they call in future, as I’ve already told them everything I intend to.

08:19am Saturday - one my only day off

They are debt collectors and it's their job to collect money that hasn't been paid.  They called me mistakenly and I called them and asked for my number to be removed from their system.  They were polite and apologetic and have removed my number.  

I suppose they have to follow up every route they can to do their job as debters who don't want to pay can be hard to find.
