- David Allamby laser eye surgeon reviews| 4 replieshttp://lasikavenger.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/da ... ocus-laser.html
David Allamby is a refractive surgeon for FOCUS laser vision laser eye surgery clinic in London.
With the number of risks and complications increasing due to the poor assessments of patients by many surgeons, the current recommendation is to not get laser eye surgery also known as lasik / lasek.
Distortions can cause untold difficulties in life and there is always dry eye and pain.

- Fayaz Issak, Bolton replies to David Allamby laser eye surgeon reviewsCan't help you with this but I can tell you about Visualase who ruined my eyesight.
I had laser eye surgery at the Visualase laser clinic in Bolton. The Visualase team assessed my eyes incorrectly, and they gave me a standard treatment instead of a custom treatment. The aftercare was of a poor standard, and when I was experiencing problems, the staff were quite rude, especially the clinic manager Hilary Smith. The clinic is owned by Stewart Clough, the surgeon who damaged my eyesight is Dr Stephen Doyle. I have raised a formal complaints regarding my situation.
I had to pay another surgeon - a real expert to perform a serious corrective procedure on my right eye, due to all the problems I have. This was not a laser procedure but involved stitches in my cornea. The entire experience at Visualase has been the worst of my life. I cannot begin to tell you how much you need to avoid laser eye surgery all costs. If you value your eye sight, please stick with your glasses. At the very least, pay extra and go to a real expert to be assessed.
I pray whoever reads this, is in good health and remains that way. Take care of your eyesight, it is so valuable and you would only appreciate it, once it is lost. - Mike replies to David Allamby laser eye surgeon reviews| 2 repliesI can't help you answer questions about David Allamby either unfortunately. I had laser treatment consultation at Accuvision, another UK laser eye surgery clinic. Misleading rude and unprofessional. I am appalled by the way I have been treated by Accuvision or more appropriately Inaccuvision. I requested a free consultancy to discuss the potential provision of laser surgery or some other form of treatment if that was not appropriate. Following a telephone call and 2 e-mails I was given an appointment by Accuvision in Harley Street. The Consultant was brilliant and wrote to my Dr requesting further information before making any recommendations. Imagine my surprise when I received a bill directly from the Consultant for £210.00. I e-mailed Accuvision pointing out the mistake expecting them to cover the cost. At no time was I told or even given the impression that the so called free consultancy would be billed because my condition was more complicated. When I politely tried to resolve the matter I was fobbed off with references to the website which if you can find it states that some consultancies have to be paid for. I would like to know how I would know until the appointment was completed but to have been given the impression it was free is wrong, and ultimately I was told to pay the bill and not to communicate with them again!! I would be very careful about using this company, their customer service is appalling, the website misleading and the attitude of the staff unprofessional. For example try to find out what their complaints process is.
- Zechariah177 replies to Mike| 1 replyI consulted Accuvision about intraocular lens implants for correction of myopia, following a radial keratotomy over 20 years earlier. Their optometrist recommended a PRK procedure instead. After a successful PRK on my right eye, I underwent the same procedure on my (very slightly myopic) left eye. Unfortunately the second procedure was unsuccessful and I ended up with corneal scarring to a depth of 20% and significantly reduced vision in my left eye, from previously near normal vision. On follow up visits I was repeatedly assured that everything was following a normal course, and there was never any acknowledgment of corneal damage. I ultimately required a corneal transplant to replace my scarred left cornea, and will require follow up monitoring and treatment for the rest of my life. While corneal scarring is a recognised complication of laser eye surgery, I would have appreciated an admission that the procedure had failed. And if I could turn back the clock I would not undergo laser surgery for cosmetic reasons. It may be successful in over 90% of cases, but that leaves a lot of people with suboptimal results.
- Craig Mellor replies to Zechariah177I understand and sympathise with you. I had laser eye surgery that left me with complications so severe and disfigured that I now have to wear a balaclava to protect me while I work freelance as a cameraman. I wouldn't do it again either.
- Ramsey replies to real optimax patient reviewafter wearing contact lenses for 20 yrs+ -3.50 -3.75 needing reading glasses for small print in poor light decided to have laser correction after hearing good reports from work colleagues who had been to optimax in finchley road…
initial consultation was ok .opted for intralase with wavefront seemed quite expensive ..I work for the nhs so supposedly got 25% discount..
I was quite suprised at the disclaimer I had to sign basically they dont take responsibility if you suffer with poor eyesight after the procedure..etc etc..
on the day of the procedure had a medical review that lasted 10 minutes a quick look at my notes…..after treatment went home to recover ….next day was quite excited could see reasonably well long distance could not read a thing even newspaper headline large print .went for my aftercare had an eye test spoke to the optometrist who said can you read the chart …well i could read 3 lines she replied well thats what you came in for not your reading!!!!!!!
had a stressfull week want to work next day could not read anything or use a computer could not read dials on the car sat nav vision was dreadfull from 0 -10 feet a way impossible to use a mobile phone etc prior to laser surgery could read perfectly well with prescription lense…
had my 2nd aftercare November 2013 with a different optometrist then who had no interest in my concerns .I explained that i had to wear reading glasses all the time to focus and that I buy +3 glasses to see close up…..her reply to all this was so just wear glasses then!!!!
she also told me my vision had been overcorrected and to come back in 3 months when I told her unhappy I was she replied what can i do about it ….
the aftercare at optimax is appalling it is a money making factory great advertising once you have paid your money and you have got aproblem they are not going to help you…I hope my vision will improve my night vision also is dreadfull making it difficult to drove glare halos etc…all in all I regret having it done and would have no confidence in there ability to correct it….I have had no reassurance that my vision will improve or have they made an appointment for me to discuss my fears with the surgeon who carried out the procedure… - G Beck (Optimax procedure 2009) replies to real optimax patient reviewWREAKED MY LIFE
The best part of six years on and I am still in almost constant pain. From the moment I get up until I go to bed I am thinking about my eyes. I cannot watch television for any length of time, being at the computer is painful, reading is a strain, I struggle to concentrate, lights bother me and I can no longer go to the cinema or theatre.
My vision is so much poorer than with my glasses, the term “night and day” does not cover it. I have had to cut back on driving as I do not feel confident with my sight as well as it being a strain.
I am suffering from severe chronic dry eyes which not only causes pain but distorts the vision because of a “wrinkling” on the surface.
After a day at work, I cannot go out in the evening and often go to bed when I come home. I cannot do any of the things I used to enjoy and life is miserable.
Oh, how I miss my days with my glasses- I’d stick them on and I’d see properly and I wasn’t in pain.
My life has been wrecked by this surgery. I was never warned of the severity of the risks. They also keep quiet that 1 in 3 people still need glasses after having the procedure.
The worst thing I ever did. Optimax have completely wreaked my life. I feel I have nothing to ever look forward to again. - amy Sinclair replies to real optimax patient reviewAfter having Lasik and wavefront more than 8 years ago I have never been so disappointed. I can only say that you should speak to some of the few % of people it doesnt work for. My vision was -5 in both eyes. It is now -2 in one eye and +2 in the other eye. I had steroid drops for 6 weeks to try and help the light sensitivity, but I am still unable to drive at night due to headlights. Working is very difficult as I use an ultrasound M/C so I am having to have my scans checked by a junior member of staff. My vision is a blur. I have been re assured that things will get better, I really hope so. I wish I had never had it done.
- Julian Assange replies to jane armstrongSounds like I need to meet this Sacha. Can you do coffee round at mine on Hans Crescent? Easy to find me in Knightsbridge, near Harrods etc
- Claire Foley replies to jane armstrongCongratulations John McDonnell and your appointment as chancellor to the equator. It's only fair that Gary Corbyn kept his promise to Sacha who single-handidly won the campaign for you with her constant publicity and lobbying. Now that you are in charge of the country you two can make sure company's like Optimax are illegalised and for the people on here who suffer from their constant spam may you illegalise that too
Claire xxxx - Leyana Martin replies to Soon to be former Optimax Hull employee| 5 repliesIs it true that an optom over at the Bristol Rd branch of Optimax has been suspended amid rumours of an arrest over goat molestation? It's certainly looks like a case of a gagging for it order if it's true.
- Hella BellaLaser surgery market is on its last legs that's why they are so desperate. Aftercare promises are empty words as there will be no one to take care of you people in few years. Those who keep this business running wear glasses.
- Gone with the wind replies to Leyana MartinDo you mean professional blowers? Billy goat vs. little wonder optimax?
- Renee BlaineI'm getting spam from Ultralase and Optimax and trying to unsubscribe but the link doesn't work and the email address doesn't allow you to reply, can anyone share an email address?
Reading the comments above I'm flabbergasted. People saying this company have ruined their life and then heaping praise on John McDonnell?
This man provided financial contributions to the IRA, so can you say honestly that someone who has sore eyes occasionally after laser surgery compares to the victims and the families of terrorist atrocities like Omagh, Guildford, Birmingham, Warrington and countless other acts committed by both sides in Northern Ireland and then say their lives are ruined. At least these people can live their lives with medication. Innocent People died in such attacks and John McDonnell has as much blood on his hands as the individuals that carried out these attacks in years gone by.- Caller: Ultralase / Optimax
- I,Tommy replies to Leyana Martin| 3 repliesIf Cameron is allowed to pump dead pigs then I'm sure the staff over at Optimax are free to roger whoever they like. Meanwhile I heard that John McDonnell is a VL?
- Jacob replies to I,Tommy| 1 replyCan anyone tell me how to opt out these laser surgery emails the link appears to be broken as it constantly says I've been unsubscribe but allow 24-48 hours.
Know nothing about the service they offer but reading the comments here I'm disgusted that the shadow chancellor and labour leader are fighting such a lengthy campaign against a commercial medical provider, would that not be the shadow health minister's job?
I've voted labour all my life but I will be joining another party as this shows that these two are as corrupt as those they claim to oppose as they are in bed with compo companies. Disgusting.
And Optimax please take me off your fooking email list! - bob replies to JacobIt might prove easier to tackle it by treating those emails as Junk in your system and blocking them that way.
- Tinhead replies to I,TommyIf David Cameron loves beefing the pork he'll be surely aroused by the leader of the Optimax rebel patient group cos apparently she's a pig with knickers on.
- Tim Stanley| 57 replies@johnmcdonnellmp Must Go. A corrupt politician who has put his own commercial interests in medical no win no fee companies before his own constituents and he must resign immediately. The organisations that he pursues with with malicious claims put working class people out of jobs and line his pockets instead. Trotsky never jumped into bed with capitalists and yet while @johnmcdonnellmp says one thing publicly, privately he's collecting his commission from the no win no fee solicitors he's publicising.

- Luke Skywalker's Barber replies to Tim Stanley| 56 repliesCompletely agree, John McDonnell must resign immediately as he endorses terrorism against the British public. http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/opinion/deb ... s-31552801.html
