- real optimax patient review replies to Vindaloo| 15 repliesOptimax laser eye surgery didn't work
It's a big risk. If it works then fine but many people have problems afterwards and Optimax obviously keep very quite about this. Once you've signed that form there's no comeback and if like me your eyes gradually deteriorate and you have to wear glasses again they just don't care.
They've offered to re laser my eyes again even though I've already had one done twice
but I was told they would gradually revert back again so that is pointless. Then they tried to get me to fork out for lense exchange instead which I can't afford because I've already paid three and a half thousand for laser which they won't refund even though I wear glasses all the time again.
All these people giving good reviews may have just had their eyes layered but beware it only took a few years for mine to revert back so you might be paying that money for just a couple of years without glasses.
Most of all don't put your trust in them when you go for your consultation. They just want your money and will play down any worries you have. They may have many satisfied customers who they will definitely tell you about but there are also many like me who have wasted thousands of pounds for absolutely nothing

Tick tock ;-) - Jan Fearnley (damaged Ultralase victim) replies to SRYou know what that family are like for seeking out publicity. Rumour has it that it was Russell Ambrose that signed his son Simon up for 2007 show The Apprentice to make the Optimax brand stand out more when Simon was profiled about his background. What Russell didn't account for was Simon allegedly rogering fellow contestant Katie Hopkins and the potential negative PR off the back of it, a significant own goal that Russell couldn't have legislated for. Since that year, Simon's career has dwindled and he's become a nobody. Luckily daddy is on hand with his amassed fortune!
- Bert Konterman replies to SR| 6 repliesThe rumour down town is that Russell Ambrose was there to talk the Dalai Lama into undergoing intraocular lens implant treatment with Optimax for free so that he could give a celebrity testimonial.
- 'Ull Lad replies to Bert Konterman| 2 repliesI am shocked that Optimax Hull and other clinics are closing. What about my aftercare? I can't travel and have severe dry eye problems and Optimax have totally given me **** service. A friend of mine demanded her deposit back but the Optimax staff told us that it was not possible and we should complain to Russell Ambrose and Betamax McManus. I was told to write to the London office and make sure that I get my money back. Or should we all start a protest....What the hell do I do my my treatment? Optimax said they won't pay for my drops and staff said that if the clinic closes we are stuffed - write to the Russell Ambrose and Betamax McManus.....???
- aTelecine Groupie replies to 'Ull Lad| 1 replyIs it true that Optimax are closing their clinics all over the place which means that as they have cocked up on my laser eye treatment, i dont have a remedy. I am getting fobbed up and being told that I have to go to the NHS? Is this legal? Optimax did my operation and now they are passing me off to the NHS. I cant believe this. I want to know why?????I am in PAIN. I was getting my drops and aftercare free but they decided to stop it because one of the manager told me that Betamax McManus and Russell Amrose has advised this. Who are these people? Are they suffering too? They have now threatened to get rid of all their staff and clinics so what happens to us - Optimax patients? The complaints people at Optimax are rubbish. Ihave already contacted Mrs Nahida Khan and a Pushppa Patel but they have done nothing. The Southend staff told me to contact these managers - Betamax McManus abnd Russell Amrose immediately and see if they can help as they are mangers and owners. They are hiding but they cant - can anyone help me.

I'm sure scummy social sponger animal-rights protesters would have an issue with that but obviously it stops people butchering HUMAN eyes - stefy replies to Bert Konterman| 2 repliesThere is nothing free about Optimax and their laser eye surgery believe me. What they don't tell you, among other things, is that the so-called 'FREE' laser eye surgery consultation is not FREE at all...It costs £10!!!
Why the advertising standards authority (ASA) don't do anything about this is beyond me. judging by some of the reviews I've read, maybe this is helping to put people off using Optimax for their laser eye surgery. This hidden consultation charge could be a blessing in disguise!
here's my experience of a free consultation at Optimax.
We were given an appointment at 15:40 for my husband to have his laser eye surgery in the Bristol branch and told that the review after the operation was going to be at 5:15 after which I would have to drive him home. My husband had sales calls to do in London that morning and asked if a 5 or 10 minute delay would be acceptable and they were adamant that no more than 10 minutes would be allowed. Well, at 5:15 he still hadn't even had the operation yet and our 7 month old daughter and I had been sitting in the cold waiting for over an hour and a half already. The receptionist said that in half an hour or 45 minutes at the most he would be out so we waited. There was a badly drunk man which was very intimidating but half an hour wasn't even enough time to get back home. 45 minutes later my husband still hadn't gone in! They again said it would only be a question of another 20 or 30 minutes at the most but of course that was only yet another lie. In the end I parked up just outside the branch with my hazards on and the manager came to tell me that it would only be 10 more minutes so I could wait there. It was not true of course as my baby and I waited for a least an hour after that! And the worst thing of all is that the manager won't even accept that it is unacceptable to make customers wait for over 3 and a half hours and lie to them throughout it all!
They are arrogant and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. They take a 10£ off you when you book your consultation which they are supposed to refund you and they never did, not until we phoned up and complained. so much for it being free, fortunately my husband had a lucky escape. - Optimax Surfin' the USA? replies to stefy| 1 replyAccording to this report, the owner is on his way to meet the President of the United States.

This month, Optimax Eye Clinics, the UK's longest established eye surgery specialist, celebrates a milestone in the career of Dr Malcolm Samuel, who has now performed a total of 2,500,000 laser treatments.
Dr Samuel, who is Senior Refractive Surgeon at Optimax, recently treated Fay Hutchinson at Optimax Leeds, whose laser procedure was the surgeon's 2500000th
Ms Hutchinson, an NHS nurse, said, "My result has been fantastic - it still doesn't seem real. The surgeon and all the staff were brilliant."
Dr Samuel has worked at Optimax since 1999, and has previously worked as Medical Director. In 2011, he organized and hosted the Optimax Refractive Conference, introducing a series of presentations from the world's leading eye surgeons and attracting more than 2 delegates.
"I am very happy to have completed 2,500,000 procedures at Optimax, and it should be reassuring for patients to know that they are being treated by an experienced surgeon. Ms Sasha Hutchinson has 6/5 unaided vision in each eye and is extremely happy with her result. Thanks to Optimax I have access to advanced laser and diagnostic equipment, and enjoy the support of a great team, which helps to provide excellent results for our patients," he said.

Tick tock ;-) - jerryOptimax laser eye surgery Liverpool review: A bit of a nightmare from the start
Started my treatment in early November 2014 in Liverpool.the surgeon never said more than 2words to me in my 4 visits there. Had r lens implant on nov 2nd , the left on nov 9th. Then I had to return 3 weeks later to have the left lens rotated ( should have been 61 degrees was inserted at 78 degrees. As the subsequent visual acuity was poor (barely legal for driving) I went back to Liverpool for YAG laser prior to further corrective laser treatment to the new lenses.this unfortunately was incompetently done with no dilation and a hole of 0.25 cm instead of 2.5 cm.now having it all corrected in your Birmingham clinic by a lovely communicative competent surgeon- Caller: Optimax Laser Eye surgery in Liverpool

I'm going to try and leave a poor Optimax review with the expeirience I've had with optimax so far (endless phone calls, hasselling me every which way possible, misleading, etc) but I bet it gets deleted.
