These guys rung me about a month ago claiming to be representing the HMRC. I checked them out and it turns out that ***THEY ARE LEGIT*** - and are authorised to collect outstanding tax payments. After I rung back, I explained that my tax returns were paid online, I gave them the payment details and they did all the legwork. They just got back to me today and explained that everything was sorted and no further action was necessary (phew!).

Probably best not ignore them or pass this off as a scam, guys. You might be accruing interest!

These keep ringing early hours of the morning and late at night they will not tell me what the call is regarding and keep asking for my personal detail to confirm who I am which I will not give over the phone as their the ones ringing me they should know and all I get in reply is well we can't continue this call without them well stop ringing me then I do not give any personal details over the phone. They are a nuisance and I'm going to find a way to make a complaint about this company.

Right. I will try and explain why they are ringing you. These guys have the contract from DWP (department for work and pensions) To reclaim monies they think they have overpaid you. For example if you have had in the past unemployment benefit or other state benefits then this is usually the reason why. Of course they might be making a mistake. They are NOT HMRC. They are just a bunch of dicks. They rang me at 8.00 on a Sunday morning (not usually a good time for me personally) About an alleged overpayment I received 2 years ago in relation to a claim I made for unemployment benefit at that time. The amount I owe is apparently £17.21 This country is in a worse mess then even I thought when they start asking for those kind of amounts back.
source of info: My wife, (she works for the DWP)

They called me twice in two minutes at approx 8am this morning. I was trying to get everyone ready for school  and managed to phone them back. He said it was a 'business matter' and I should look them up online. He kept asking for my details and got shirty when I refused. I told him it was ridiculous to call at that time of the morning and would not be handing my details over. No idea how they got my phone number.

I have just received a text message from this company. I have lived and worked between Australia and the US for the last 10 years.  I own an empty property in the UK and am paid in US dollars. I owe no tax, and do not have a TV, phone or wifi connection in the unoccupied house. On a visit home about 18 months ago, my friend bought a TV from Tesco and used my Club card  as she does not have one. Tesco then informed the TV licencing people that I had purchased a TV related item and must therefore own a TV. I have received numerous letters since, instructing me to purchase a TV licence. I have informed them that the property is unoccupied and that there is no TV on the premises. I have also informed them that I am not in the country, but the letters, and more recently, threats of legal action keep on coming. Could this company be texting me regarding this? I have no idea where else they would have got my details from. I do not give out my mobile number as it costs me too much to receive calls. I am at present in Australia. Will this affect my credit rating?

A few texts about a 'personal business matter' followed by a phone call leaving and electronic message to call them back. I do not knowingly have any debts and if I did wouldn't they be able to address me by my name or send me and official letter. If they ring again I will answer but give them NO personal details. This annoys me, it puts doubt in the back of your mind that you owe something when I'm normally so vigilant. How can HMRC allow for a company they use to use such awful tactics

haha you work for them. If these dicks come to your house make sure you film them on your phone, dont give them your name or D.O.B  And dont let them in your house!. They have no rights even if they say they can call the police to gain entrance they cant as its a civil matter not a criminal matter :) if you do have debt contact the company you owe money and deal with them directly not through a debt collector!!

    I rate TPSer
I suddenly started to get ghost phone calls from this company, ie Answer messages left saying that they couldn't contact me; so 1 an Autodialler is illegal to start. They rang at stupid 'o clock, number 2, when I did speak to them, they spoke to my partner, that explained that the debt was paid, but needed to speak to me, and was abusive, 3. I send email to them that I cant find now, stating they have been told verbally, and in writing, but still they hassle, then I get a letter saying they saw the email, will put the account on hold while they investigate, my telephone number has been removed from their lists (although they state they are not governed by tps), AFTER I reported them to to TPS service, and ICO. The bill has been paid ffs! No need to hassle me. So to others - register with TPS, then they can't call you anymore - if they do, report to the ICO (Google it), most other debts I still have, if you have no money, and cannot pay, they get bored chasing you (hope I don't live to regret that!) -obviously credit rating affected in future.

    Not going to pay :)
They phone..they text..Let them crack on with it.Just a minor irritant like double glazing sales calls..
The only power 3rd party interloper debt collection agencies get is that that you give them by coughing up any personal details or their reference number in the texts...So don't :)

I just recieved a call from these people claiming i had £68 to claim from ESA (Employment and Support Allowance) I was sick for a small time in May and this was the time of payment. However they never knew anything about post office card accounts which all benefit representatives will know. They then asked if it could be debited...lol. Then they jamp straight to giving me a bank account a reference number and a number to call them on.

    HSBC
    S/C 40 - 37 - 25  Acc 71343289  01772557642

Now they were clearing lying and the voice on the phone did not sound like a UK citizen so what is really going on here? I tried reporting benefit fraud but they didnt care and said its a police matter. I want to know where these people are based as i want to pay them ( a little visit )

I had a debt with them from an eBay account where the buyer won a case and I didn't realise so I owed eBay £40. I missed their call and phoned up and the lady was lovely and helpful.

This is to those of you who genuinely do have a debt you should pay off (I can see why the ones who keep getting harassed by them and don't have debt are annoyed)
If you owe money, just phone them and talk to them, they'll help you set up a plan and then they'll leave you alone if you keep up the payments. So much better than ignoring
