Have received 5 calls in the past two days and no answer when I picked up the phone.tried to call back but number not recognised.

Claiming they had money for me refunded from my bank. Caller knew first eight digits of my bank card and asked me to confirm the other eight to her. I hung up. she rang back and asked why I had hung up. I told her I was ringing my bank for confirmation of what she was telling me. She proceeded to call me a few names and hung up. I reported it my bank anyway who said they would never ring anyone for their account details as they would already have them.

Caller (who had far eastern accent) was very convincing though so please be aware. Caller number 01924 215367

Claims to be UK Financial Services Organisation wanting to send a cheque without saying for what.

This number has rang me a number of times left no message. I have just answered,  it is the same as before; telling me I'm owed money from my bank. Told them to go away. They put the phone down. Definitely a con going on.

Very wary of anyone offering me anything, especially over the phone. Have been duped legally by a English CLC salesman within the law.

Get in the harsh abuse before they even get to think about hanging up.

multiple calls usually hang up on answer. Today Indian call center from number, when asked which company they were calling from was told to "go F*ck myself"

Answered phone, Indian guy asked for a Mrs Shaw, I responded with "Sorry, you've got the wrong number" he they (without saying anything) hung up on me. Very rude. I have also only just set up my landline as I'm in a new address, only ever relieved calls from family and friends up until now.

this is all good and well but there is no way of reporting these numbers action fraud don't want to know unless you have lost money. I'm trying to report this number and no one has asked for it when reported so no action is being taken. it's not us it's the poor person who gets conned and hands over there details I feel sorry for it looks like the authorities are just playing lip service to this type of fraud!!

Claimed I was owed money by my bank and wanted to send cheque. When I pointed out that I didn't bank with "John Cooper" they hung up on me!!

Over last few months this number keeps ringing but hang up when I answer. Have had two calls this morning.  I know it will be a scam.  Its annoying having to answer phone.

Twice today this number has called and hung up! It is very annoying. If someone can trace and ban this - I am sure there will be many grateful people. 01924 215367 is the number to watch out for. I did try to call the number from my mobile and it says "you have dialled an incorrect number". Now, how does that work? On the landline there is a dead tone.

Similar call.......knew my name and said they were from a Finance Company. That's as far as they got - I hung up.
01924 is Wakefield Area in which I live. Seriously suspect this is a scam caller.

Called to offer a bank refund.  I asked which bank account, as I have several, and the indian sounding man told me he would cut off my head, and used very abusive terms.

If you know who this is, and would like £15000, provide proof of torture-execution at www.mechanic.sa.

Just had silent call from this number

We get calls from this number every week asking for Mr or Mrs Head, each time we say no one at this number by that name they hang up.  Interesting tho, the one this evening had a Bristish accent, possibly Scottish.

Have received several calls from this number; spoke to BT who informed me this was not a BT number and I should contact the police. Reported the issue to the Police who took details, for information, and gave me  a reference No.

Are BT being myopic or deliberately unhelpful?      It is a Virgin number according to Ofcom.

Your comment makes no sense. You've just stated that it's not a BT number, so why is it unhelpful for BT to say that it's not one of their numbers (in other words they have no control over it)? Sometimes I think you just post random stuff here when you've run out of helpful things to say.

I answered phone with "Guten Abend" in my best German accent, (I do stuff like that) they hung up anyway.
