This bunch of **** describe themselves as a Credit Reporting Agency. In normal English, that's a debt collector.

ARC scammers!!!! do not pick up!!

they try to have my bank details menacing about going to court... ignore it; trying toget money on behalf of others ... on the I had an apology from the original company.

listen guys, they r not wht they pretend, they took the details from the companies, which is very easy n work for them self, dont call police, they will favour them, i had the same problem, but everything was settled with the original company, they harrass me n i called the police, which has nt gathered any favour for me, but company has investigate the matter n the left overs were sorry's n thats it.

I've had grief from this lot in relation to a "debt" with Virgin Active... ARC are saying I never cancelled my membership properly, but when I try to explain I was never told how to cancel properly they don't listen, constantly talk over the top of you and then pretty much cut you off after 10 minutes.

Just shows it's all about the money for them - take too long on the phone and they are missing out on other calls !

I am female, just had a call from this company who accused me of pretending not to be the person they wanted....

my name claire, they wanted to speak to a John. - they wouldnt listen that i didnt know who he was and this was a number i had just taken over through BT... i have had 3 more calls off them today having the same conversation.... they dont seem to understand that i am not this person and they not even someone i know. they even said they could arrange someone to come to the address. when i said that i probably dont live at the address he does they could..... they tried to get me to tell them MY address.

Arc - Debt Collector - VIRGIN ACTIVE - very annoying... best bet to avoid calls from these and any other [***] is signing up with www.tpsonline.org.uk/ its free and makes it illegal to be contacted by agencies like these

Hi I am in a similar situation

Am being pursued by Arc and Trevor Nunn Solicitors after cancelling DD in April. Initally I recieved  a letter from Virgin Active saying that my card would no longer grant me access to club which I thought was fine as I took this to be an acceptance of cancellation of memebership, though am now being pursued for 3 months fees even though I did not have access to the club!

On this and other message boards there are many stories of people being pursued by ARC but none (that I have come across) of anyone being taken to court

What I want to know is whether anyone has actually been sued or is this all hot air because they are scared of negative publicity or of setting a precedent if someone successfully defends the claim.

A lovely bunch of people, they called about an outstanding debt that I owed (which I thought that I had paid off). I just gave them my card details and they sorted it all out for me.

Good joke Mike! These guys chase money that Esporta say you owe even if you cancel gym membership correctly. The Gym wants 3months leaving fee, you don't pay so they send it over to these guys. They won't take it to court as the Office of Fair Trading has already ruled the practice unfair

It doesn't matter what it says in a 'contract' if that contract is unlawful or unfair then it is not legal.

I've wrote them a letter telling them they can only contact me via post.  I told them that their staff are the rudest subhuman pigs I had every come across.  Mind you, I'd be arsey if I had their shite jobs!

I am in the same situation...i didnt cancel with fitness first...i just cancelled my direct debit...i mean,....i know its a contract...but the following month i didnt go ..its not like they lost money..anyways ...i havnt been to the gym for a while now....and dont like the gyms,...i have noticed on this site that these [***] holes collect money for gym companies......i think they just try to scare people....let me tell you one thing for sure...for a debt collector to send it to court ..they have to make an application..it is the court that decided if they should grant it..and when they do grant it ..it will cost the company money to apply for the court time. So for the very little money we owe....for a month or two gym membership i dont think it is worth it for these companies to apply..and for the amount of people that there is ..i dont think the court has time to deal with [***]. So remeber this, the only company that does get granted permission  from courts is councils..and tv licensing...but any thing like mobile phones and gyms and cable tv...its all a load of bollock. just not the adress down of the debt agebcy and everytime you get a letter send it back..it will cost them more.dont be curios to read what it says...WE ARE SUPPOSE TO LIVE IN THE FREE WORLD  SO LIVE BY FREE MEANS......DONT BE AFRAID COS TOO MANY PEOPLE GIVE IN..IN A DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY THE PEOPLE HAVE POWER...WHAT HAPPENED BRITISH PEOPLE DID WE FORGET THAT!

I did not know this!!!  I have just been harrased by them promising to look into the contract and notice issue.  I nearly gave them my card number, but instinct made me decide to send a cheque.  
If that is the case, they are not getting a dime from me!.

I had two missed calls from them today, I called them because I had read the comments on here and was dying to know what they wanted seeing as I applied and was granted an administration order months ago.
Anyhow, I rang, I gave them the reference they required but refused to give them any more information. I requested they remove me from their call list which they must do when requested and I also pointed out my administration order and that they are in fact breaking the law by contacting me therefore I would be contacting the court.

Oh he also refused to tell me what 'debt' this was about.

had a complete monkey on to me today asking me to send him evidnece i cancelled my contract with the gym correctly.the cheek of the man.
he also asked for my new address-which i didnt give.im going to be as uncooperative as possible with these people.

They are hassling me too, just called and spoke to a right [***], sarcastic, demanding to know if i have any money in my account!!! I hung up on him on the end. Esporta have confirmed my membership is finished but they want more money from me, told them to stuf it. They threatened court, dont answer the phone, bunch of [***]
