Me too. I cancelled a direct debit cos I'd moved miles away and virgin sent me a letter to Miss 111111! Personal service eh?! Since then ARC have been ringing me regularly. Thought it was resolved but their number's come up again as a missed call.

Numerous calls from this number , threatening automated messages left on voicemail , solicitors letters from Trever Munn , all relating to David LLoyd Gym Membership , which i packed in September 2010 , 3 months notice paid up, This band of cowboys saying I owe £70 for January 2011 and £70 for February 2011, Apparently they are taking me to court now in Northampton ,,,

Why dont you go [***] yourself, some people are struggling right now.

this number has been calling my 12yr olds phone,im a bit worried now.i have told her not to answer them.

It's "ARC Europe", debt collecting agency. They wanted to get £73 for the last month of my membership in LA fitness (because I hadn't canceled it in a right way) + £50 for them self, so in total they asked me to pay £123 instead of just £73.
Guys, DO NOT pay them anything and TRY to sort everything out with the company you own the money to, like I just did. I called to LA fitness customer services and spoken to them about it, after that they just cleared up all debts which was on my name and they removed me from the black list of the ARC Europe, so I'm very happy!

ARC......again! They call me daily using different numbers. My advice is...if you don't know whose calling, don't pick up. If it's important the caller will leave message :)

I cancelled my gym membership with David lloyd with more than three months notice they gave me the finish date of 1sst June i therfore cancelled my direct debit.  They have hounded me and now passes the debt on these not so nice lying people who are chasing a debt which is not owed i would love to see them in court make fools of themselves

You lot need to pick up the phone and pay your bills, stop moaning and trying to find a way out.

My husband received a call from these, i dont think he has anything outstanding, but i have cancelled a direct debit  from sky? Which i planned to set back up i only cancelled it because they owed me £57  but were still going take £40 out my bank, could this  be something to do with that?? Strange as I am owing prob £3? We've never been with virgin and have no gym memberships??

I actually do owe these monkeys money but they aint getting a penny because they are low life useless scumbags who can't get me no matter how hard they try!!!! piss ants.

I canceled the direct debet with Virgin activity and received dozen of calls from the above number! apparently they sent me a letter says that they found my car parked infront of my house whereas I am abroad the UK and they want to take my car away and sell it in auction to get their money. Btw they ask me to pay £90 and if i dont do so they will take the aforementioned action. My consideration, am I in a risk or do they have the whole right to sell my car in order collecting their money, please any thoughts?

Just as a matter of interest I did a company search with the office of fair trading and gues what.  ARc's licence has expired.

so if they call you ask them why they no longer hold a licence.  I have contacted the OFT asking them wether in fact arc can continue debt collecting without a licence.  Once I get an answer I'll post that as well

Excellent advice. Seems we've received similar. They've been bullying us for days for a sum of money we simply do not owe, having cancelled LA Fitness, Henley on Thames, gym membership months ago. Today I had an automated message requesting I ring Gemma urgently regarding a package sent to my address. I was given a reference too. So I rang. (Online, when I checked, the telephone number I rang was supposed to be UPS tracking.) Anyway, it turned out to be the same guy we'd had a 'conversation' with before. So I told him we'd checked and we were indeed in the right. They were in the wrong - as they were here again, lying - pretending it was something about a delivery, to try and trick us into doing something we weren't going to do. I said that it the bullying didn't stop we'd be making a report to Trading Standards. It's good to see everyone's posts. At least we're not alone!

I cancelled my membership in writing, via a letter left on the reception desk, this was my 4th attempt at cancelling (as there is never any staff around to hand it to )
i paid by direct debit for a further 6 months as per my contract, but never returned to the gym.
they say they never got my letter, ( it was left on their key board for their computer so they couldnt have missed it ) on the 7th month when they couldnt get their money they wrote to me , i said id cancelled and paid up as per the contract.
i now get arc and munn or nunn ? calling and writing to me demanding i pay £230 as i didnt cancel correctly even though i did, i was just about to pay my first monthly payment ( to get them off my back as they are very aggressive ) but just googled the number first to get the correct name for the payment, thank god i did,
i will be refusing to pay now as i am in the right and have cancelled correctly
