They are hassling me too, just called and spoke to a right [***], sarcastic, demanding to know if i have any money in my account!!! I hung up on him on the end. Esporta have confirmed my membership is finished but they want more money from me, told them to stuf it. They threatened court, dont answer the phone, bunch of [***]

Virgin Active put ARC onto me after I resigned my membership. Just quote a letter in the Money Mail section of the Daily Mail 29th October 2008. Here someone in a similar situation complained. The Mail rang Virgin and the case was dropped as the sales staff didnot take "due care and attention" in explaining the contract. I quoted this to ARC and they sent me a letter the following day dropping the case!

Hey, guess what? I've never had a call from this or any other company like it - hmm..... funny that -  probably because I honour my contracts and pay my debts off! Maybe you lot should try doing that!

guys ... you need to contact a lady called Gurdev she heads up the corperate side of things for Virgin Active. This Company ARC is managed by Scot Seamen (lol) about right! they are comission based so its imperative they close you down, guys stand up to them and tell them that you will not continue to make payment to them as your contract is with Virgin Active not ARC and that you want to see Proof of the instruction (without costs) to reclaim monies owed. if you are not satisfied, notify them that you are reporting them for nusance telephone calls and contact the police and give them there contact number. all you need to say. Police Have to act by law. this company will then have to put in writing who they are. (if they have your correct address) if they do not. not your problem. if its not in writing or recorded it never happened. courts can only go by written evidance of correspondance. and worse case senario they do persue you in court and do have the right address. you can just say you never received it. my advice here is .... talk to the organ grinder not the Monkeys!!! dont even throw them a peanut. they are low salary desperados!!! speak to Virgin Active.

the same sort of thing happen to me but with la fitness the gym was nasty and the service was crap i had waited a year to get rid of my contract but no one ever replied to my emails so i just cancelled my direct debit with the bank and now these [***] faces are calling me i aint never answering to any private or numbers i do not reconize and i took the advise of Esporta Victim and regestered on that website so i do not get any stupid call from these fools again.

My son had a gym membership with Esporta but was struck down by a serious illness and eneded up in intensive care we call Esporta and let them know but all they could go on about was the contract !!!! Now ARC have tried contacting him and as i keep telling them he is intensive care on a ventelator so how on earth can you speak to him. I lost my rag yesterday and told them exactly what i thought of them and unlless they want me to come round and show them what I think of them not to call again !!!!

This company consistantly breaks the OFT rules for debt collection agencies but somehow stays in business. Sign the petition to put them (and others like them) out of business. http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/OutlawDSP/

There's lots of advice and support for dealing with these scumbags on the Consumer Action Group forum (google it).
I've been watching those forums for months and there has never been anyone taken to court by these idiots, mainly because they chase unenforcable debts.

However, there have been a number of suicides, relationship breakdowns and families torn apart by debt problems that do not need to be problems.

Oh, and Trevor Munn IS Arc. They have no rights to take your money.

My advice to those who have been plagued by these calls...if you have the spare time only and a willing partner in crime....this is really petty....using two mobiles simultaneously on speaker (ensuring of course that YOUR  numbers are withheld) call the main number 01932 251000 and place the two phones within listening distance of each other. You will have the utter pleasure of listening to two call centre employees realise that they are talking to each other.  This gave me a bit of light entertainment in dark place...."oh my gosh man is that you???" "Yeah blad that is like well weird, I haf to arks what it is that's goin' on?"  "You just came up on my fing with like a outside call an stuff"  and it went on in a similar vein....

My point is that the call centre employees really are badly trained muppets.  Don't be bullied by them.

I'm so happy I looked on here. Virgin Active have been a right pain in the [***] and now these people on to me. I'll take all of your advise and NOT answer their calls! I'll return all the mail I've had off Virgin Active which is still unopened. Thanks again guys : )

i recently lost my job so therfor had to quit the gym and didnt act out my 3 month cancellation period
so i cancelled the direct debit i had no money lost my car health was deteriating
felt like xxxx all the time tired anyway
they are still phoning every other day leaving messages on my awnsering machine stating very urgent please contact this number woila

I had 3 Message on my answering machine from them! For no reason, through a mistake by the bank the money didn't go through on time, was all sorted and LA Fitness was happy!

Best way to get rid of them, go on holiday and only listen to the messages 3 Weeks later. WHOOOPS! Last one was left 2 Weeks ago and since no more calls.

Also if they want people to call them back, they should speak slower so that you can actually understand the number and not spend 4mins trying to understand what number it is and what company they're calling from!

Made me laugh, hope you can sort it out. Ignoring seems to be the best way. Just sort it out directly with whoever you owe the money to....

Had two calls from them and a text. Did not know so thought I would check number with Google search and came up with this. I certainly have not been with Virgin Active so cant imagine why I would recieve calls from Arc. The above messages are very worrying. I will not be answering there calls.

Keep getting text to the wrong name, calls and letters sent to my address with the wrong name (which I dutifully return). Maybe I am a victim of ID theft, but does anyone know their address? I am considering suing them for harassment.

I've been getting calls from this number also - mostly silent.   Reading these comments I'm puzzled - I've never had a gym membership or anything to do with Virgin Active, does anyone know any other companies they might be working for?  Like most people (except load of whingers) I have some debts.
