- Anon replies to .OK - so taking into account your response can you answer me one question.
Why do your employees use fake names if everything is meant to be above board? - .| 14 repliesThey are alias names, some of the staff do actually use their real names others choose a persona name. Why do famous actors and musicians use different names? because they can use the name they choose to use, it makes them feel more self confidence and they are not doing anything wrong. This is something that many companies do.
My father never used his real name in business and he was extremely successful. His name was Tony and he felt this wouldn't be suitable for the people he chose to do business with and so used the name Michael instead.
Chosen Name - Birth Name
Sir Tom Jones - Thomas John Woodward
Albert Brooks - Albert Einstein
Bill Clinton - William Jefferson Blythe III
Bruce Lee - Lee Yuen Kam
Bruno Mars - Peter Gene Hernández
Charlie Sheen - Carlos Irwin Estevez
Chuck Norris - Carlos Ray
David Bowie - David Robert Hayward-Jones
Dido - Florian Cloud De Bounevialle Armstrong
Elton John - Reginald Kenneth Dwight
George Michael - Georgios Panayiotou
Lady Gaga - Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta
Michael Caine - Maurice Micklewhite
Ralph Lauren - Ralph Lifshitz
Tiger Woods Eldrick Woods
Yves St. Laurent - Henri Donat Mathieu
As you can see from the above names, these are just a few of the thousands of people off the top of my head that are highly successful in different industries and all using as you above call a 'Fake Name'
im sorry to burst your bubble but as you can see their is nothing wrong if an employee makes a choice to use a name different to their birth name. - a replies to .Obviously you read Tatler and not the Daily Mirror
- Outsider replies to .| 12 repliesThese responses are amusing from the management of BFW. I am literally in hysterics.
Lets just take a sensible logical view on the issue of employee names here:
A. We are not in show business
B. No one in investment banking / Broking uses a fake name (imagine what HR would say at Tullett Prebon or ICAP if you said I want to use a different name on the phone) that would be a response I would pay to see!
DO I NEED TO SAY ANYMORE? Seems they just cant accept they are a non-regulated/boiler-room/spank shop/fake name/virtual office. - Miss Funny Fanny replies to OutsiderAgree
What's the saying 'Give em enough rope'
I think BFW responses on this site would worry anybody. - Tilly replies to Norglishman| 5 repliesSir, I assume you have a job? Then I am sure you can appreciate that she was only doing hers, and you probably wouldn´t like it if someone was swearing at you while you are trying to do your job? If you have nothing better to do than yell at cold callers all day and you take great enjoyment on placing calls on hold then I recommend you find something better to do with your sad life.
- Nan replies to Tilly| 4 repliesYou have replied to a post made in 2012, so you must have read through all the posts, including the extract from the Daily Mirror. If someone cold called me and would not take no for an answer, they would get abuse too.
- Tilly replies to Nan| 3 repliesI was just doing some research on wines and came across this and read a few posts over the pages. I grasp that cold calls can be irritating but someone is simply doing the job they are asked to do. If you don´t want to listen then you can list your number with the tps or you can politely say "look, I realise you are doing your job, but I don´t wish to continue this conversation any further, so in the politest possible way, please remove my number from your system and do not call again"
- Nan replies to Tilly| 1 replyIf you read the post you are complaining about you will see that the person repeatedly said he was not interested. The polite thing to do was for the caller to say, "Thank you for your time, Goodbye". Politeness works both ways. However, given the succeeding posts, it would seem that this is a scam company who will not give up calling because they are after your money. In a perfect world everyone would be polite to everyone else but unfortunately people are inundated with cold calls, silent calls, scam calls and multiple calls day in and day out so politeness wears a little thin. When you get a cold call from someone who is abusive and obscene when you say you are not interested, please come back and tell us how polite you were.
- Tilly replies to NanI used to get them all the time. PPI payments, do I want life insurance, my personal injury claim that I´ve never made. I will usually say "I understand that you´re just doing your job, but I work in sales myself (I don´t but they don´t need to know that), and so I know it´s not nice when someone hangs up on you, but I´m really not interested and I would appreciate being removed from your list" I get calls now and again but because I repeatedly dealt with it in a polite way, it would seem I have been removed from most databases.
- anon replies to TillySome researcher you are, all the articles on BFW and Companies House Records yet choose to focus on the right/wrong way to deal with a Cold Caller.
I'd say you were in PR - MaxAll the hallmarks of a Ponzi scheme. I've told them to stop calling me.
- Caller: Bordeaux fine wines
- . replies to Outsider| 10 repliesHello Outsider,
i am sorry to correct you, however, these names are not all show business! when did the President of the United States of America fall into show business???? or sportsmen??? hummm also sorry to correct you again however, i am not management at BFW nor an employee. I am actually an ex employee that did pay my taxes as do all the staff and i left on good terms to pursue an alternative career.
I just think that whatever i say or anyone else says there is no positive things people can say on here, it is not a spank, its really sad that you feel it is, any form of spank would be shut down, that is illegal and immoral. The director of BFW is a great person i have nothing bad to say about the company i really don't and if my chosen career path does not work out i would never hesitate on taking up their offer of going back to them. - JH| 1 replyWhat do people seriously have against this company? i think people should find something better to do with their time.
- anon replies to JHIt could be when they send out client portfolio values, its explained here
http://www.practicalconveyancing.co.uk/content/view/10246/1118/ - UK Business ForumsHi Guys, we gave reason to believe it's Bordeaux Fine Wines - if you have dealt with this company we would love to hear your experience here: http://bizforums.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?24-Business-Review-Forum
- Elaine replies to .| 9 repliesHi
, some of the posts on here are regarding my fathers investment which I am concerned about,
Now if you could put my mind at ease I would quite happily retract them,
I understand my father chose to buy the wine at the price quoted, that is not my issue, I don't think I made that clear in my previous posts, my issue is that the valuation on paper they have sent him states that his portfolio is worth 5 thousand pounds more than what he invested, making him a profit.... where as when I searched for his wine portfolio on wine searcher the value was 15-20 thousand pounds less than he invested, making him a loss...
When he has queried this with the broker they have told him his is worth more because his is vintage?
If you could give me a reasonable explanation on this that makes sense, it really would be much appreciated, and also why he never received his own account at LCB,
If there is something that I am missing please correct me and make it clearer for me to understand, as an experienced wine broker I am hoping you can help me understand the discrepancies.
thanks - Nan replies to Elaine| 1 replyI think that . might be a "shill" trying to make the company look good. Just above your post is one from UK Business forums which might be of more use to you. If the company was legit, I would have thought they might have sued the Daily Mirror for the report done by their Investigative journalists.
- anon replies to Elaine| 6 repliesThe statements will be misleading as that's how they draw you in to invest more.
As you say somebody selling an item at an inflated price is not a crime, buyer beware.
That's how Ken made his 8 million on 17 million turnover, that's after he's paid his Closers and overheads.
But if they are sending your Father statements showing a higher value than the wine is worth, that's false representations to make a gain ie Fraud under the 2006 Fraud act.
Your Father needs to talk to Action Fraud if he thinks fraud has been committed, if only to put your mind at rest.

This Guy, Jim Budd, below knows his stuff when it comes to Wine Fraud, and has many posts on BFW and a link to contact him.
