My job seeker's told me not to go for the second interview after I told them about the job, and I think other people's will do the same as they are thoroughly aware of these types of 'Businesses'.

I applied to Praetorian Marketing in Birmingham on night around 11pm online, along with many other jobs. The next morning around 9am, I was called by them saying I had an interview the following day. Over the moon I travelled to Birmingham, which costed £10 (which is quite a lot when you're on £50 per week) But I didn't mind thinking I had a job. I arrived in my best clothes to a run down, empty building with no clear signs. I sat in the interview room for 45 minutes because apparently 'there was a lot of people to get through' Finally I was called into a room by what seemed like a friendly, well mannered, well dressed man named Pete. He talked very fast, and although it wasn't really an interview as they asked me no questions at all I was given the job and asked to return for an observation day 2 days later. They told me about the job, saying it involved working on computers recording data, analysis on competitors and greeting customers politely. Which sounds like an admin-type job.

I went to the Job Centre the following day to inform them that I had a job and would not be in need of the allowance for much longer. But my advisor's face dropped when I told him about the interview, and he said it sounded dodgy. We did some research and discovered that the job was Door-to-Door marketing, with lots of bad reviews saying they even make you pay to travel to different towns and buy daily passes. He refused to stop my money, he said it was my call but he wouldn't trust them, and that he had dealt with people before who have been 'hired' by this company, who worked for weeks and received no pay. He also told me the company who share an office with Praetorian (Strategic Five Marketing) were well known for their dishonesty, and used to have a different name which they had to change due to bad publicity.

My point being, these companies are should be avoided at all costs. However, if you are encouraging a 'dole dosser' to take up this job offer, you should know that most Job Centres are aware of these companies, and will advise people to stay away from them. Furthermore, they will not stop you're dole money if you have a job at these companies until it has been proven that it it a genuine job and you are better off from it. Which will most likely never happen. They have a list of places like this to tell people to avoid.

My son went to a couple of interviews which sounded odd ie 10 mins and then a callback to do a full day interview that might last from noon until 8pm.
I checked out the company websites and no tel numbers or real details. I was suspicious so searched companies house and no such companies, then I checked the owner of the domain names and found the sites were set up only a few days ago.
One called Pure Atlantic was owned by Parker Worldwide, I then found they scam young people into thinking they are applying for decent jobs when actually it is door to door sales, and the full day interview is joining a sales person actually doing door to door sales.
Other companies are called Pantheon International and Project Zinc.
However, by next week they may well have changed their names and set up new sites.
It is a shame something cant be done about these companies.
