I've spoken to a friend who has spent £25k on 3 diamonds from a company called something like Alexander Marks supposedly based in Bromley. He is not a user of the internet and I've googled them and can't find anything.

I'm now very concerned for him. He is an elderly gentleman and I'm fearful he has been ripped off.

I've not had time to read the whole blog/thread as I'm just doing a favour for an old boy from the pub.

Can anyone give me more info?

Now found out that he actually sent the money to a company called Tudor Global and a quick google search leads me to believe it is a scam.

Thats bull [***] because if you do your reasearch diamonds do have a spot price (Rapaport.net) its only coloured diamonds that do not.

Because there is not enough of them about, that is why.
Most of these diamond firms claim to be able to get coloured diamonds but the fact is, is that they can't.

They are just johnny come lately's jumping onto a band wagon in a booming market and spoiling it for the rest of the genuine diamantaires out there.

It's like the wild west out there but due dilligence always prevails. Just do your research and fact finding before you jump into anything.

MF Global a  regulated firm who had money in an escrow account stole peoples money, problems were happening in 2008/9 with fines and misselling but people still carried on investing till the ship went down.

Earlier this year I summarised what I believe to be the facts about RDC.  I repeat my observations below to raise caution:

Of course Rare Diamond Commodities are possibly scammers at worst or very sharp sales-persons selling stuff at many times its true value to suckers, at best.  Herewith some facts:

1.  Their Registered Address at 57 Lisson Street, is a converted pub, now flats and some very small businesses.  Interestingly, one of the businesses at that address offers virtual office facilities, (post forwarding etc).
It is very difficult to believe any business employing more than a couple of people could operate from there, let alone a serious telesales operation.  Several punters report having arrived at this address only to find RDC aren't there.
Yet their website majors on "located in Marylebone".... very fishy.  Presumably, using the Marylebone address make RDC look more prestigious.
Do they use the services of the virtual office provider usefully located at that address?

2.  Some people have asserted that RDC is located in Bromley.  This is plausible for a couple of reasons.

  a.  There are LinkedIn entries for people who claim to work for RDC and show their place of work as
       being in Bromley.  There is even a LinkedIn entry for an IT person who claims to have worked on
       setting up their IT.

   b. There are job adverts for "Openers" (the sad b***ers who trawl down the 'phone lists for potential
       suckers), Brokers & Senior Brokers all based in Bromley and selling "Rare" Diamonds.

3.  Some of the job adverts for Bromley based telesales diamond-pushers offer 25% commission.  
Think about it: if you buy a diamond at a price that is already carrying enough to cover the 25% commission for the salesman plus enough to cover the margin for the management & owners, then it is likely that the underlying "value" cannot be more than a very small fraction of what you pay.  Perhaps as little as 10%!

So, they may not be scammers but their behaviour looks devious and the product they are selling cannot possibly be worth anything like the price they'll charge.

DON'T GO NEAR THEM or ANY OTHER UNSOLICITED TELESALES OF EXPENSIVE STUFF!

Hi all I used to work for jubilee diamonds when I was 17 years old and soon figured out it was not what it was cracked up to be, what these people like to do is fill your head with lies that you will be earning thousands and month and guess what these people are not experts in there field but conmen who make all the people manly young men and women who call you read off scripts that they have wrote themselves, I fell into the trap again after being oblivious to the fact that all broker firms are spanks I ended up in a diamond floor called STERLIN DENT & MOSS evidentially if you look on Google and type in DANIEL WEBSTER you will see my old "DIAMOND EXPERT" boss is now doing a 7-8 year sentence for scamming people, I cannot stress to you ALL when I say all these people who ring and promise you great returns off DIAMONDS, LAND, CARBON CREDITS, WINE and really anything that requires them  to cold call you when you don't even recall giving out your details  will ROB your money. Also if any of you think im lying and are seeing a return of any of these investments I strongly advise you to take your money and never invest into them again what they like to do is what I can describe as a fishing rode as by that I mean the slowly entice you in so if you put in 5k you'll see a return in a month maybe and think this is great so you'll put in more and until you put in a substantial amount you will then get shafted, I am disgraced at myself that I was ever involved in something like that these people are nothing but lowlifes

Joubert Diamonds, Barrington Edwards Ltd are all run by a little Asian called Ansar Ali who was also the MD of Elite Gems Ltd. His wife, Shuma Noor Ali runs Barrington Edwards.

Lets get these companies Closed Down !  I am quite certain that we have enough evidence on these people !

They buy their stock from sites like Leibish, Isreal Diamonds and other online wholesalers. The two companies mentioned are legitimate and sell at the price investors should actually be paying. These companies all belong to Ansar Ali. Ali is very clever ! He is not the director of any of these companies . He was director of Elite Gems. Since then we have slowly noticed Ali is laying low. Along with Sami Raja. Ali and Raja were also behind Harman Royce and many more not forgetting to mention the Jubilee Diamonds scam. There are some legitimate companies out there but Beware. If these companies don't show their prices on their site we are 95% sure they are over inflated by a minimum of around 200% and in some cases upto 1200%. This means you will never see a return on your investment. We will update you with progress in regards to trading standards.

Have Bordeaux fine wines gone into liquidation?

I'm very worried i have invested a large % of my savings with Bordeaux and they are not answering my calls. if anyone could shed any light that would be much appreciated.

BFW are long gone. A simple Google search will tell you all you need to know. The Daily Mirror has exposed this lot numerous times.

My father had many calls from Bordeaux trying to pressure him into buying with them! It shouldn't be allowed

A family member of mine has told me they invested money with a company called Falcon International Estates and they bought rare earth metals or elements from them. I have found info and blogs on them but only to do with property and that you shouldn't invest. Does anyone know anything about them or if they are legitimate or not. It was a £5,000 investment but they have since spoken to him about his pension and moving it from where he currently has it invested into a company called Novia. I think a company called Sovereign is also mentioned in the paperwork. His rare earths are stored at Safe Cellars and he has a certificate but I just don't know if it's all kosher and I'm worried he has lost money or been scammed. They have said that some of his SIPP money would be invested in land near Southampton. The contact at the company is Kourosh Abedian and my family member went to meet him at his office but I have read bad things about this particular person. Anyone that can help with any info it would be much appreciated.
