Received a call today (2nd December 2010). A guy told me they were doing some research / feedback about the weather. I didn't answer any questions. Told him I wasn't interested. he asked if there was anyone else in the household who would answer his questions - I answered no and signed off. Who are these people? The number obtained by dialling BT 1471 (17.47pm) was: 0207 8909051

Missed two calls from this number last night - not sure how as I'm registered with the TPS and we are ex directory. How is this person/company getting our numbers??

Received a call at 8.35pm asking for my son to answer a survey as he wasnt here, I asked whos calling and whats it concern to which the female person calling said shes not allowed to disclose any information but its to do with a survey? what survey? not allowed to say so I said dont call this number in future and thankyou and put the phone down.

Received call yesterday at 18:13, found by using 1471. If this is "market research" the TPS doesn't cover it. TPS only covers calls for sales & services. This is a workround for the "market researchers" to call and not fall foul of the TPS. It may be genuine research, but I doubt it very much.

Just had a call from this company gfknop asking if I'd like to take part in a survey about car hire.

received call but no one answered

As a private householder, we have had five calls in as many days from this company.  Despite asking for our number to be taken from the database, calls are still coming (last one 6.18 last night).
We have no wish to answer any research questions, and especially resent calls coming when we are having our evening meal.

I have left a message to this effect on the contact form at www.gfknop.com asking them to remove our name and number from their database immediately.

If we all do that, just maybe they will listen - but then, probably not because they are being paid by big companies to harass us all!

yes it is a gfk nop number they aren't any sort of bad company (i work as one of the interviewers) all they are is a market research company not to take your details and use them (breaching the data protection act), i mean ive interviewed with tons of surveys and some of them seem really off and stupid but there only there for your opinions my advise to you all just say you are ex directory and that will get us off your backs :)

Criket - what is it with you guys. Suspicious?? What the hell is suspicious about it? Where do you think the statistics that you read about in the papers or on the news come from? Yeah, surveys. Surveys like the one this company carries out. OK, so maybe its a survey for a commercial purpses . . so what. All you have to do is say no thanks - not come on here bitching about it or expounding all kinds of conspiracy theories. Get a life for Chrissakes.

Definately unsolicited nuisance calls.

My wife and I have stopped answering the telpephone or mobile if we don't recognise the number, so they get nothing from us. If it's important they can leave a messege and I'll decide if I want to call them back.

It's about time someone stopped allowing telephone numbers to be given to these companies for marketing purposes. If I want something I'll go and find it myself.

You need to get a life if you are happy to receive numerous calls from these type of people everyday like most people are getting on this website.

These parasites are a nuisance and are invading private lives by their continuous harassing of people who are not interested.

I have personally asked hundreds of times (no exageration!) to have them stop calling me but they just don't get the message.

I do have a life and don't want it interrupted by these ignorant inconsiderate idiots.

Just had yet another call from this number! It is becoming increasingly annoying! I refuse to answer the call if I do not recognise it. A pain in the rear end!!!!

Sunday Morning !! I wish these people would just give up and go away, even telling them we're not interested doesn't work. They must have called everyday for the last few weeks at least 2-3 times a day.

Called at 11.35 this morning Sunday - to my x directory number didn't answer as not familiar with caller ID.

This number has shown up on our phone a number of times and no message left. Picked up call from them this evening and said I don't buy anything from cold callers; "Amber" said she wasn't trying to sell anything but I said since she was calling my private ex directory number and I didn't know her, I had no intention of wasting my evening listening to her & hung up. Go away & stop invading my space!!!!

I have registered with the call preference service and I am ex-directory, yet I keep getting calls from this number

2 calls in 10 minutes today- they are still out there!!

I have had 2 calls from this number today (Sunday) asking for my son. When i said he was not in, they insisted they would call back later I asked who they were and all i got was ' I am calling on behalf of the Chef Executive of ABCDEF (lots of letters that meant nothing to me)  They did call back but we did not answer - Who are they?
I am also ex-directory and have subscribed to TPS years ago
