Got called, wasn't there to pick up

I had this number call me today. I answered the phone and no one spoke. They hung up after about 30seconds.

Called at 15:34 doing market research. Asked where they obtained my number I was read a prepared script about random number generation. They claim not to be selling so not subject to TPS but they sell the merits of answering their questions!
Called again at 20:25 - the random number generator strikes again! Believe that and you'll believe anything! They promised to remove my number from their system (randomly of course!) I've smelt this smell before.

This caller has been repeatedly ringing me home phone number which is registered with BT not to receive cold calls

It's just market research. GFK is a good reputable company and I wholeheartedly recommend them.

was called by this number at 8.30 pm operator said they were doing a survey about Barclays bank could i answer questions, I said NO and was too busy they said ok  end of call

I have just received a call from this number at 10:20am on a Sunday.

Aren't there any guidelines that exist to regulate when these people can call.

Also, my number is fairly recent and was only connected in June, this means my phone service provider has passed on the number, I specifically asked to be ex-directory.

There are no guidelines regarding when anyone can call.     Nor laws either.     If there were would you seriously expect those people to pay any attention to them?

Being ex-Directory means only that your number does not appear in the local telephone directory for your area.    There are other ways of determining a phone number, or simply dialing numbers one after the other.

This forum is provided to help people who are of the same opinion as yourself, that OUR phone lines that WE pay for should not be troubled by nuisance callers.     Chase your MP for legislation.

This number just called me - left no message, was going to call them back but having read all your comments, I'm not going to bother!.

It might be "Just market research" but it's still unsolicited. These waste of time companies should be banned.

Called today at 8:30pm. I didn't recognise the number so I didn't answer the phone. They never left a message.

This number rang me today again. I just dont answer. They never leave a message. Is this ever going to stop!

02078909051 rang, message on answer phone, " hello.....what the hell" and hung up. Don't know where they are getting number from as we are ex directory!!!!!!

I did not answer but got the number on 1471 - dont know who this is...

Unsolicited call

calls from 02078909051 for the past week morning, noon, night. My primary number given to services (eg. barklays, etc) have my land-line as primary (main) number, so why ring me on the mobile?

Got a call asking for a named person and correct name given, asking if they were in and wanted to talk with them about a "Custmoer Satisfaction Survey". The women has been phoning lots and to other addresses as we have voice recordings of her.....checked  out later. I then simply only asked for the name of the "Product", the women middle class voice, very doctor receptionist sounding simply said "I can not tell you". I then hung up the phone.

Just really wanted to now the "Whereabouts" of person they ased for. Is 02078909051 really just a service that prying fraudsters can hire out in the "name of research"

Get one of those blockers that allow you to stop the calls, I have a Panasonic phone which allows me to bar callers with numbers

Other phones allow you to block calls from Overseas or withheld numbers as well as selected numbers.   In my own case, the number of callers dropped dramatically once Overseas calls were blocked - despite their quoted number being spoofed as from UK.
