I was asked to confirm my name & bank to the caller (I was alarmed that they had my mobile number, knew my full name & the name of the bank I have an account with).

I told the caller that I wasn't that person & know nothing about the account with that bank. The woman on the phone had an afro-caribbean/african accent. She was mumbling back to someone.

I said this mobile number is registered with TPS... She said they happened to be outside of those restrictions. I said I wanted their number as I was going to report to OfCOM & she put the phone down.

** DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION ** It's a scam to get you to give out your details. I don't care if it's a market research company... It's a front for ID fraud & emptying your bank account. Please readers, be careful & agree... OfCOM should be contacted especially if the banks say they don't commission companies like this.

Problem is, the banks should also help us towards fighting companies like this. I blame the friggin government. Data Protection Act is load of crap when people who work for companies with access to confidential data like bank details allow this to happen.

Got a call from them tonight. Rang back and as stated in the comments below - it was a GfKNOP automated message saying that I was contacted by them.

I changed my old number 2 months ago because I was fed up of getting spam phone calls. Now this!!! It's SO annoying! If I want a firm to contact me, I will GIVE them my number. If I want to go out and buy insurance etc etc, I will shop around myself! Registered with the TPS, not sure what good it will do...

Received a call from this no. at 15.55 on 20/12/09, didn't introduce themselves but asked for me by my full name - always makes me suspicious. Told them I was too busy to talk and they hung up straight away. No idea what they wanted.

Got a call several times from them to my business mobile now this number is very confidential due to the nature of my work.

They rang asking about my thoughts on mobile phones!!!!! [***]!

I asked how they got this number, i have to report this to my commanding officer, who will give a rocket to our provider, if you have the same, and are sure they have not got your numebr, off a email or something complain to your mobile provider.

Told them to stop calling me i asked for the persons name, and if the called again they would be personally sued for invasion of privacy, judging by the flustered reponse, i think they got the message.

i may be getting anal but the people piss me off, and as i say the blooody foriegn call centres are all crook everyone of them I can assure you

Got a call from them tonite,they asked me my age and i replied 36,they said i was too old as they were not interviewing people of that age bracket....how very dare they!!!!!LOL     Cheeky sad muppets thats all i can say!

These idiots called and had obtained some worrying inaccurate but connected information in regards to a survey.

For some reason they were doing a survey on the branch of bank i am with (which was opened in a new town) but the survey was for the place i grew up.

If memory serves, my new bank don't know where i grew up so how they attained this information is entirely worrying.

Big brother is totally watching. Annoying XD

I too am getting calls from this coy. They hang up when my answerphone kicks in. However, their web site gives the e-mail address for several key members of staff regarding providing employment.
Do what I am going to do - bombard them with e-mails to say you are interested in a position with them. Then tell them to stop pestering me and I will stop pestering them!!

Had 3 calls on my mobile from 02078909051 at 19.00, no message left then a call came from 07791536282 5 mins later.  Answered this and they said they were GFK NOP conducting a survey on mobile phone usage which I declined to participate in.

I have had several call's from this number. I don't say anything, which confuses them. Just tell them you know where where they live, and they will be getting a visit!

keep getting calls from 02078909051 at work  - actually answered the call last week and they requested to speak to the highest person in charge of personnel in our organisation - no introduction - just plain bullish and quite rude. They never leave a voicemail message - tossers !

Just had 2 calls from this number. Answered second one and they were doing research into mobile phones. just said i wasnt interested in talking to them ever. had no calls back.

called by gfk nop for survey,I declined .10 min later another caller from same company only she used her own mobile and didn't block her id .her mobile num is 07814257392

As noted by others, this was GFK. They called during the evening, I ignored it and no message left. They called again about an hour later, said who they were and asked if I could take a survey with regard to mobile phones. I replied, "I'd rather not thanks" and the call ended politely. I'd rather not get the call in the first place but it was not a big deal really (as long as they don't call again! :) )

Just had my third call from this number.  Twice last night and now again this morning.  No message left.  I now refuse to pick up calls if I don't recognise the number - they are such a pain.  So glad I checked this site.  Thanks :o)

just had a call from this number 8.39pm on home phone, didnt answer it,  and no message left.

Just 5 minutes ago, my telephone rang, but I was otherwise engaged at the time, so decided to wait for a message. When one didn't arrive, did the customary 1471 check and this 0207 number came up. Glad I checked via google rather than return the call.

Just had a call from this number with them claiming to be a market research company on behalf of banks.  I told him that I would answer his questions about general bank service but that I would not give any personal information or bank details over the phone.  At this point he said that he did not require any more people from my bank to anwser their survey.  what utter crap. Very suspect if you ask me. dont give them any info......cleary fraudulent.
