- TimThis number rang at 14-30hrs and ask a lot of questions about my health and any medication i was on.
When i said i was very healthy thank you and was not taking any pills they politely said good bye. - Angelayes, these calls are still going on. got to the bit about the pomigranate tablets and by then I was fed up with the questions and the call ended before she got round to trying to sell me anything.
- LeanneHave had soooooo many calls from this number4 - haven't answered due to not recognising the number. Called the number back today...hmm no answer. Glad I thought to google the number.
- Caller: 02086190745
- Mum's WatchdogJust happened to be at my elderly mother's house when she had one of these calls.
Asian accent said he was from Bexley in Kent, asked her all kinds of personal questions about aches, pains, and medication.
I took over the call and challenged him about who the funding body was, what the purpose the 'market research' was, who would use the information he was collecting, and what ethical guidelines he was following. Unsurprisingly, he was unable to answer any of my questions.
Legitimate market reasearchers will always be able to answer these questions, in fact, they give you the information BEFORE asking questions. (No, I am not a market researcher!)
Please, have nothing further to do with this caller!- Caller: 02086190745

- Gtux| 2 repliesReceived a call this morning at 9.00am from John at 'The Health Centre enquiring after my health and did I have any aches and pains. As soon as I said I was fit and well since I retired a year ago he hung up. 'John' definitely had a foreign accent.

Tel: 0208-303-7777 - Rich replies to Trading Standards UserEvery day for over a week now. Asian voice, last one to call siad he was "Derek" from "The Health Centre". Which one? I asked, Bexley in Kent was the answer. Why would I use a health centre 400 miles away? I asked and put the phone down.
- rosecaller said from health care centre doing a uk survey. Wanted to know about my health. Told them I had no problems so they rang off.
- Caller: health care centre Bexley
- Call type: Survey
- Susy| 2 repliesHad a call this evening from a very polite asian lady who was "conducting a health survey". She was persistant, but she never tried to sell me anything, although from the number of times she mentioned rose-hips I think it may ultimately have been about some sort of rose-hip concoction.
I could imagine someone a little less cynical could be sucked in. TPS certainly doesn't prevent these calls. From what I have read it would seem I can look forward to many more calls. Lets hope they pay by the minute.- Caller: 02086190745
- Seany| 2 repliesI was called by this number at approx 10.25am on the 4th of march 2011.The caller claimed he was calling from a Health centre and this was a follow up call to a conversation i never had in the first place. He asked things like 'did i suffer with aches and pains'? how old was i ? What did i do for a living? and so on.He then went on to the benefits of cod liver oil and rosehip syrups. He then wanted me to fetch a piece of paper to write down a recommended dosage after much talk of the syrup, i then proceeded to ask him for a website so i could google it and his response was 'This is something you cannot google' i then told him id ask my GP and abruptly hung up.I believe this to be a scam and be aware of what info you give if any.

Relieved to hear that you were sufficiently on the case not to be duped by Sanda Wellness. Nothing like complaining directly to the Chairman of a company to put an end to these cold-calls:

ajit@ajitpatel.com - THad two dozen calls from this number in last 4 weeks - they go to my answermachine long enough to leave a brief silent message and hang up
Glad I have never answered it - I work with lots of healthcare companies so they'd probably have tied me up for a while before I realised what they were up to
I am registered TPS and the number they are calling on has always been ex-directory - so frustrating. - Janette| 1 replyI was called by this number 09.30 24/03/2011. I didn't take the call. I AM a medical market researcher and I can guarantee that genuine medical market researchers will tell you who they are, the name of their company and the purpose of the call before they ask anything else. We never cold call patients. We usually advertise and ask people to contact us. Occasionally we ask nurses or GPs to help us find patients but again that is on the basis that the patients will contact us if they are interested. In that case the patient will be handed a letter by their GP or nurse with the researchers contact details and invited to respond if they wish to. We NEVER try to sell anything and would never offer any medical advice to respondents except to see their own Doctor. We are subject to very stringent ethical guidelines about how we conduct interviews with patients and we would never ask for any personal details from patients except their address and this is usually for the purpose of validating that the interview took place at the time stated. If anyone telephones claiming to be a Market Researcher always ask for the name of the company and you can check that with the MRS or BHBIA. All market research companies are subject to The Data protection act and the companies that I work for are extremely conscientious about the protection of data. All respondents are asked at the beginning of the interview if they agree to have their contact details held. If they do not agree then the details are deleted. Contact details are NEVER forwarded to commissioning clients.

- Bing replies to JanetteGood to hear, Janette. I take it that Sanda Wellbeing / Wellness is not a member of the British Healthcare Business Intelligence Association (BHBIA) ( http://www.bhbia.org.uk ) nor a member of Market Research Society (MRS) ( http://www.mrs.org.uk )? But then they seem more interested in scamming the people they call (see below) so would presumably be kept at arms length by both bodies.

Important Notice
Hoax Calls
It has been brought to our attention that hoax calls are being made to patients by someone fraudulently claiming to be a representative of the Medical Centre.
The telephone calls are being made by a company called Sanda Wellness - telephone number 0208 619 0745.
The caller will either ask you questions regarding your health and lifestyle or will try and sell you products eg pomegranate syrup or rosehip syrup which will ‘cure all your ailments’. This company does not have any connection with Newport Pagnell Medical Centre and we do not condone the pressurised selling technique the company uses.
If you do receive a sales call from this company please do not disclose any personal details and if possible report the telephone call to the local Trading Standards - tel 01908 252504. - Ann| 1 replyThe Wellness Clinic have phoned me several times, asking intrusive personal questions about my health, which I find upsetting. I have asked them not to phone me again, but they keep phoning.
- Caller: Wellness Clinic
- Bing replies to AnnThere is some advice on the link below, Ann, but if you have asked them not call you, and they still are, and it is upsetting you, as you say, then it could be classified as harassment in which case you should report it to your local police station. You may also save others from these distressing calls and scams.
