- Call type: Telemarketer
- Jason replies to ZebeThank you to all the previous bloggers for identifying who it was that called me a few minutes ago. Same patter as before, female Asian voice asking how I was, if I took any supplements, how much water I drink, how many times a week I eat chicken, red meat and fish. I was waiting for the sales pitch which never came as a pizza I had ordered arrived first! Now it's in my phone's address book I shall know to ignore future calls.
- Colin| 1 replyHad a call from a William from Sanda Wellness from the above number, he said his own number was 02086190070. He was on the phone for 35 mins asking me questions about my health etc. I was very aware of what answers I gave him. After about 25 mins he started to say about Rosehip and then he started his sales pitch, that they sell them for £12.95 and they will turn up on your doorstep. He then said I would like to register you, I said no way will I give any details over the phone, and I would go to my local Holland and Barratt and have a look for myself.
I guessed it maybe a scam, but do not give any details over the phone.
Hope this may help others as some elderly people may give in, please pass this info onto anyone who may be affected.
Thanks- Caller: Sanda Wellness

Health and medical scams happen after you receive an email or phone call or see an advert promising miracle tablets and other medical cures that offer unbelievable results.
More about health and medical fraud
These frauds involve health and medical-related products and services that can appear to be a legitimate form of alternative medicine. The fraudsters lead their victims to believe they’ll receive a product or service of comparative quality for a lower price, or that the product or service they are buying will provide a miracle cure. Some of the products on sale are so-called ‘cures’ for acne, AIDS, arthritis, baldness, cancer, impotence and weight loss.
Another type of medical fraud involve fake online pharmacies offering drugs and medicines very cheaply or without prescription. Even if you do receive the products you order, there’s no guarantee that they are the real thing. In some cases, they may even damage your health.
At the very least, you will be left out of pocket, which can be very costly. Invariably, due to the nature of online purchasing, the seller’s identity will be disguised which means your chances of getting any money back are limited.
When dealing online, there’s always a risk that your sensitive personal and financial data may be compromised. This could enable a fraudster to steal your identity to control your bank accounts, or use it to raise finance or buy goods elsewhere.
The emotional and medical cost to you could be far more serious. When you buy medicines online, you have no way of knowing what they contain or how they might impact on your health. By triggering a damaging reaction or preventing you from seeking proper treatment, the medicine you’ve bought online could make your existing medical condition worse.
Are you a victim of health or medical fraud?
You’ve bought goods thinking they were legitimate alternative forms of medicine.
• You’ve bought healthcare products that you believed were exactly the same as another brand, but at a lower price.
You’ve bought goods thinking they were a miracle cure for acne, AIDS, cancer, or impotence.
You’ve bought pharmaceuticals online without a prescription.
What should you do if you’re a victim of health or medical fraud?
Report it to Action Fraud: https://reportfraud.actionfraud.org.uk/fraudreport/
If there’s a dispute over the nature of the product and its claimed benefits, you should ask the website selling the product for held and a refund.
Keep all evidence of your purchase, including the goods you bought and any correspondence.
If you’ve already made a payment, contact your credit card company and/or bank and tell them that you may have fallen victim to a fraud. They’ll advise you on cancelling payments and ensuring your finances remain secure.
If you’ve already taken any medical products you are worried about, you should always visit your GP.
Protect yourself against health and medical fraud
With thousands of bogus health products for sale online, the best advice is to proceed with real caution when considering any new medicine or healthcare product.
Always talk to your GP or local pharmacist first. They’ll be able to tell you whether the product is safe and effective. If you’re managing a health condition, never stop taking a prescribed medicine, or start taking a new medicine, without speaking to your GP or pharmacist first.
If you do decide to go ahead and buy online:
try to avoid paying by money transfers. They aren’t secure
be careful when using direct banking transactions to pay for goods. Make sure transactions are secure
don’t send confidential personal or financial information by email.
Fraudulent health and medical websites often:
promise a new miracle cure or wonder breakthrough. But their products are neither tested, nor proven to work
offer to supply prescription-only medicines without a valid prescription
try to convince you with testimonials from satisfied customers. How do you know these testimonials are genuine? Even if they are, anecdotal evidence is no substitute for the scientific evidence that lies behind genuine medicines
offer no risk money-back guarantees. But, if try to get your money back, the fraudsters simply disappear
feature endorsements from a doctor or health professional quoting scientific evidence. But if you look more closely, you’ll see that these individuals are not affiliated to any known institution or clinical practice. Nor has their evidence been published in a recognised journal.
To help you identify a legitimate pharmacy website, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society has produced an internet pharmacy logo that acts as a visual aid for people who wish to buy medicines online. Only bona fide registered pharmacies providing professional services in Great Britain are entitled to display the logo.
You can also protect yourself from fraudsters by:
checking the pharmacist’s registration status
finding the name and address of the pharmacy operating the website. It should be connected to a genuine pharmacy at a genuine address
noting whether or not you are asked questions before purchasing your medicine. Registered pharmacies are required to check that a medicine is suitable for a patient before selling it. This is a form of online consultation with a health professional.

- BrianHad a call from them today at 3.30pm was in the bath, so i did not answer the phone,
will not be in future after seeing all these messages. - MLWSomeone from this number phoned my elderly mother this morning and after the call she was able to get the phone number via 1471. My mother said the man, Ross (with an asian accent) had 'the gift of the gab' and asking questions then saying he would be sending all sorts of vitamins, rose hip, cod liver oil etc through the post to her.
I phoned the number back and spoke to a woman this time (Glenys I think, again asian accent) told her about 'Ross' phoning my mother and that if anything does turn up in the post from them - we will be sending it straight back! That we don't want their products! Luckily, mother didn't give her bank details to them. But the call was enough to worry and upset her!
We joined TPS some years ago to prevent this type of call but are still getting them. THEY ARE A NUISANCE!!- Caller: Sanders Vitamins?
- Gerry. My wife had a call from this no today, the usual form, an Asian sounding man asked many qusetions about my wifes health and age etc,he went on for at least 15 minutes, and mentioned the health giving properties of pomegranite. He was very friendly. When my wife said that she had to go out, he sounded quite upset, probably because he was just getting to the "sting". I would say, that if you get a call from this no, hang up straight away.
- Caller: ??
- MACThis number calls frequently. Fortunately I have caller display so on most occasions I do not answer the call. However it is extremely annoying to have to leave what you are doing to go to the phone. I have already registered with Preference Calls with BT but I am still inundated with unwanted calls.

Twenty-seven companies involved in the mis-selling of health supplements have been wound up in the High Court following an investigation by Company Investigations of the Insolvency Service.
The investigation found that all of the companies (see list below) had their registered offices in the County Durham area but traded internationally, mainly from locations in Barcelona and Malta by placing "Free Trial Offers" for health supplements on numerous websites.
Customers responding to a "Free Trial Offer" supplied their payment card details believing that only a small charge to cover postage and packaging (typically £3.95) was required. However, if the customer failed to cancel the “Free Trial Offer” within the cancellation period (usually 15 days) they were deemed to have agreed to an ongoing supply of the product from the companies, at a cost of around £70 to £80 each month.
Commenting on the case, Stephen Speed, Chief Executive of The Insolvency Service said;
"The Insolvency Service is determined to come down hard on companies who seek to rip off the public by mis-selling products. I urge all consumers to be vigilant when it comes to ‘free trial offers’, and remember if it looks to good to be true, it often is."
Analysis of the available records for just seven of the companies found that they had turnover in excess of $19 million in the period August 2009 to March 2010 which was processed through merchant accounts based in Germany.
The products offered by the companies included Acai Berry Detox, Acai Power, Effective Acai, Acai Detox, Absolute Acai, Colon Cleanse Fresh, Colon Purify, Life Cleanse, Resveratrol, Resvmax, Miraculous Teeth Whitening, PureClean Teeth, Dermasensation and Dermainfuse.
The investigation found that there was a serious lack of transparency as to who controlled the companies with the named directors being otherwise unconnected individuals residing in the Consett area of County Durham. Those spoken to by the investigators said they knew nothing about the affairs of the company of which they were the only director and said their only task was to forward any post received for the companies to a local formation agent, Brinken Merchant Incorporations Limited. Each had been approached to act as a director by Brinken who paid them around £150 a year.
However, the Court heard that 25 of the companies were found to be under the common control of Local Billing Solutions Limited ("Local Billing"), a company registered in Malta. Local Billing maintained throughout the inquiry that it acted only as a payment processor and that the beneficial interest in the companies belonged to Canonizado International, a company said to be registered in Panama, of which the investigators could find no trace. On the documents available, the investigation established that the beneficiaries of the companies’ trading were most likely to be Local Billing and its principal Clayton Douglass.
Grounds for winding up the companies included,
· The websites used by the companies misled customers into believing that the trial offer was risk free and limited in nature,
· The terms and conditions of the offer were designed to confuse the customer and were not provided in any durable medium,
· The length of the trial offer was not made clear. Customers were provided with a 30-day supply of the product, but had, typically, only 12 days from receipt of the product in which to cancel any future supply,
· The companies abused the privilege of trading through a limited company by effectively continuing the same method of operating as that used by Trading Planet Limited, Viv3lab Limited and Vivera Limited.
Those three companies having previously been wound up by the Court in the public interest.
The winding up orders were all made on 26 August 2010.
Winding up petitions were presented on 21 June 2010 against:-
LB Belvedere Limited, LB Cygnus Media Limited, LB Deluxepass Limited, LB Eridanus Entertainment Limited, LB Evil Angel Limited, LB Friendfinder Limited, LB Global Web Solutions Limited, LB Internet Media Productions Limited, LB Ilogic Solutions Limited
Winding up petitions were presented on 22 June 2010 against:-
LB LFP Internet Limited, LB Lyra Entertainment Limited, LB Nomad Media Limited, LB Pegasus Media Limited, LB Price Communications Limited, LB RSC Limited, LB Southint Prop Limited, LB Watt Media Limited
Winding up petitions against the following companies were presented on 23 June 2010 and on 25 June 2010 the Official Receiver was appointed as Provisional Liquidator of the companies:-
LB Carsed Marketing Limited, LB Nakedsword Limited, LB Cassiopeia Media Limited, LB Cybernet Entertainment Limited, LB RHS Limited, LB Pride Studios Limited, Intercontinental Consignment Logistics Limited and Gillmap Limited Petitions to wind up Fyso-UK Limited and H5-UK Limited were presented on
13 July 2010.
