    In response to LOL.
I really hope you are lying when you said you work for O2. Ive been with them for about nearly 10 years now and ive never seen anyone who works there call its customers idiots!?! I really hope if you do work for them they catch on to this and at the very least sack you on the spot. Theres no need to have a go at people who live in a world where scrounging low lifes will use fake numbers and scams to rob people. The people on this forum are simply trying to make sure they arent falling for a scam and who the f*ck do you think you are to call them idiots when they are trying to be cautious. Wouldnt ignorance be the idiotic thing?
It seems to me that maybe it is a scam as most many of these posts say the seller was extremely rude (hardly conducive to gaining a contract, what do you think).
Im a long term customer because i like the attitude i have always been greeted with by O2 staff. I also choose the tariff i have because it best suits me, my life style and my bank balance, so if i dont want to recieve calls that interupt my life to be told something i already know or can find out then i shouldnt have to, and you can shove it up your ass if that annoys you.

To everyone else, just treat it like a scam since there are mixed reports of people saying it is and it isnt. Why would some one lie and say it is a scam when it isnt. But if it is there are plenty of reasons why they would come on here and say everything is all fine.

LOL is clearly a wind up merchant. His earlier posts suggest that these calls are targeted solely at PAYG customers. However, as a contract customer, I am still receiving these calls.

The only connection I can make is that I'm eligible for an upgrade later this month. They always seem to call when I'm at work, so have yet to answer one of their many (many, many, many, many ...) calls.

After some research, the number does appear to be o2. The following is copied from an o2 employee on their forum:

"It is the outbound call team to offer you deals and is o2, they're calling me a lot at the moment also despite telling them I work for o2 and there is nothing they can do to offer me.

I would recommend double checking with o2 that you are opted out of marketing (I am but they still call) and also register your number with TPS http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/ctps/number_type.html (I still need to do this) and within 28 days you will be taken off all call lists."

i received a call from this number last night, the guy was polite but asked too many questions about the service and my tariff to the point of repeating himself, i gave him none of my details but he still offered me free minutes (which i am yet to receive!!) and apparently if i go to an o2 store and give them my number they will give me discount on an upgrade.....hmmmmm, so i am yet to find out if this is all legitimate

What suprises me is that no one has mentioned whether they have spoken to o2 about how this company has got your mobile number and if they are like t-mobile and selling your numbers for big money

Okay... so i just switched my number to Orange, and hey, im stil receiving these calls...

i phoned O2 who still have my account active for a few more days and they said there was no notes on my account about outgoing calls and that it is most probably a scam. If this be the case, i wouldnt even hand out details to them...

And to be fair, if it was O2 why would they be asking for your details, it should all be on their system in the first place.

When they phone tell them you are recording the phone call for security reasons (as you always do when giving over personal details WINK WINK), they will soon either hang up or insist you stop etc... when they ask for your details tell them you will go into your local O2 store and get the best you can out of them from their stores or from a trusted customer service number on their website for peace of mind.

Just be wary, i wouldnt give my details over.

Just contacted LBM (the company people claim them to be) ... this is what was  said by the live chat operator......

    Bill says:
i keep receiving phone calls to my mobile, after researching on the internet i have come through to this website. can you please confirm to me weather the number "02202" is used by your company ?
    Vicky Smith says:
These calls may be from our call centre regarding pay as you go phones or contract phones, offering you minutes and text messages etc (depending on what mobile phone network you are on).
    Bill says:
well i used to be on O2 and now i am on orange... can my number be removed from your database
    Vicky Smith says:
Can I take you telephone number please?
    Bill says:
     07XXXXXXXXX
    Vicky Smith says:
I will pass this onto the correct person.
    Bill says:
can you confirm that i was on the database?
    Vicky Smith says:
I am unable to confirm that as I wok in a different department

    ----------------

Make of that what you can but i advise everybody to go on there and do what i just did!

    Lol
First of all if i upset anyone then i am sorry. I was just venting off some steam.  and by the way... To be removed from the database: 1) write to the address i told you about. 2) answer the call and say "could you please remove from your database as i do not want to be called ever again" in a nice manner. And presto you will be removed. Good Bye!  or you could try what the guy above me said.

I'm struggling to see why people say this isn't O2.

I had an e-mail from O2 giving me information regarding O2 Broadband and getting 3 months free due to being an O2 customer.

I recived a call from O2202 and one of the first things tha twas mentioned was 'I see you enquired about O2 Boadband.'

I wasn't asked for my name or anything like that.  Just Post Code and home phone number for obvious reasons to see if my area is eligible for O2 broadband.  Only other details mentioned was basic information  regarding our current broadband.

I struggle to see how O2202 cannot be an O2 number - isn't it obvious (O2 2 O2).  If your phone number is stored on the O2 database you will get calls from them if you didn't untick 'marketing purposes', or similar type of thing, as mentioned previouslyin comments.

But if I'm honst I would definitely say this is O2.

    People need to stop worrying.

This Number Keeps Ringing Me Between 10 & 11am Whilst I'm In School.  It's Getting To Be Beyond A Joke, And From What I've Seen Here, It's Most Likely A Hoax.  The Thing That Really Bothers Me Though, Is How The Heck Has This Number Got My Phone Number?  If It Really Is A Hoax, Then Does That Mean That O2 Has Been Selling On Their Customers Details?

I Really See Me Having To Change My Number, But I Really Don't Want To Because I've Had My Current Number For Years.  O2 Need To Sort This Mess Out.
