Silent call, disconnected after about 5 seconds

Just received this call shortly after call from 092689. When I suspect a scam or call centre I don't speak first then either hang up or let them rabit. The above number asked for me by name and started prattling about bank charge refunds. I told the asian caller to remove my details. Don't have number recognition so had to 1471 to check.

The next time you get a call like this from these masqueraders, tell them the information they want, but talk in broken English so bad and impossible to understand they'll give up, then ask if they have a uk work permit.

i think this is another scam number

same as others said i was owed money .when my dad asked them to send a letter to prove a legit firm they were very evasivehe would not listen to my dad who told him to shut up so he could explain things but he got very annoyed at being told to shut up so  we hung up they called again and again when i answered her called me a f----ing  [***]  how dare i hang up on him so i told him [***] you b-----d i then hung up but still he called back 4 times my dad answered and asked for his supervisor he would not do it  so we hung up again still he tried calling again as we have caller ID  we answered it and hung up at the same time

I had a call from this number. The caller had an Indian Accent and said he was from a British finance company.  He wanted my bank details to return a surplus payment to me.  I told him he was a crook and I would  be reporting this phone call to the fraud squad.

No idea who this company is. They asked for me by name. The voice had an Indian accent. He started with a spiel about what I assumed was PPI, but I didn't let him finish. I said I was on the TPS list, and asked where he got my number, but he then hung up.

Insisted I give my bank details for a refund of bank charges.  When I repeatedly refused, I was told "Go f*** yourself".  What worries me is they had my name, age, correct bank and the first five numbers of my bank account.  Where did they get all that from?  Who are they and how can they be stopped?

Not had a call for a few days but they rang again yesterday despite the fact I told them to remove my phone number from their list as I had reported them to the police, Once more they are asking for my 17 yr old daughter whom a previous IDIOT called Peter (heavy indian accent so I doubt that) had been calling sexy,and his girlfriend etc,,,,, This time a William Edward rang and was similarly asking for my daughter denying all other calls etc I lectured him again about their inappropriate comments re my daughters age etc and once more said to remove my name and number so we'll see if they do .

just had a call today from this number - guy was called 'oliver' with a strong foreign accent - told me from the uk finance department and i was due some bank charges back. I told him id never had a bank charge in my life, he proceeded to talk over the top of me, refused to listen and eventually told me to f**k off...then asked me if I wanted to visit him and be his friend.! He also said a few things which I really dont want to put on here...but vvv rude! I gave him a gobful and hung up. Its obviously from all the posts a scam - what worries me is how they got peoples personal details they have been given/or sold from somewhere.

They had a very strong Indian English accent, when i queried why the call centre was India if they were calling on behalf of the british government they said hey were based in Essex. They persisted for my bank details I confirmed the front long number but when they asked me for my security code i was not happy. Even though they claimed to be calling to issue me a cheque because i had been over charged by my bank they did not know who my bank was.
I CALLED MY BANK THEY DID NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HIS, SO I CANCELLED MY CARD AND ASKED FOR A NEW ONE AS THE CALLERS HAD A LOT OF MY DETAILS PRIOR TO THE CALL.

These are very persistent people why they are calling I don't know but they are very dodgey. My bank said hat the parts of information they gave me about my account would be accessible once something was purchased online, but the information they wanted from me would not be available to them for security purposes. So technically they wanted me to fill in the blanks.

Well done you.  As you have realised no Government Department would do business over the phone like this.  They like their paper trails too much.  Of course, the Government would not be refunding bank charges.  It's hard enough to get money from the Government for anything!

This call THREATENED to take £100 out of our bank because we refused to give him rest of ours details that he didnt have to 'claim our ppi from our mortgage' We have not dealt with these people AT ALL! Just about to call our bank and report it......

Called me this morning - Asian-sounding bloke asking for someone who hasn't lived here for over 4 years...

Told him there was no-one of that name here, and hung up.

1471 gave me the number, and Google turned up this interesting gem...

Had a call from 02256800256 just now (10.16am) - no idea who they were - they hung up when I answered.

Had a call from a Man with a strong Indian accent, asking for someone who has never lived at my address.  When he was told that and that I was registered with the TPS he hung up.  I am also ex-directory.
