- Steve B| 1 replyThey called & said they had bank charges to refund. Then wanted to know personal details. Didn't seem to understand that my bank knows all these and they're welcome to put the money back. Didn't seem to know which bank I'm with or that he works for either. Got a bit upset when I said that I didn't give personal information to unknown people making unsolicited calls. No doubt it's a phishing call.
- Jean replies to Steve BJust had a call from this place.I might be 69 but I am far from senile,I strung her along for a bit never told her the truth to any question then she ask me to give her my bank card number then I told her what I thought and hung up,then the phone rang again and it was her asking me why I hung up on her that was when I told her all the information I had given to her was a lie just like she was lying to me and hung up again.
- IntergalacticfreewayGot a call circa 17:20, 13/12/2012 and the caller said "Is this Mr W---?", I said yes he said "goodnight" and put the phone down. These people are a nuisance to society and should be brought to task.

- Mme BlavatskyHe's started withhoding the no. but it's the same scam. I don't pay bank charges and smelled a rat immediately. When I asked him under who's authority he was calling he said " UK Claims and Finance Dept, authorised by the High Court, right?" Based at Leslie Road, Eastbourne.
This is a scam but I see that there is no provision to select that type of call. Prank doesn't go far enough!- Caller: UK Claims and Finance Dept, authorised by the High Court, right?"
- YAMI have not long received one of the calls that realy cheese you off and makes you very weary. The chap whose English was terrible with an Asian voice said i had some bank charges to come back, I replied PPI and then he said no bank charges then said he was from the uk claims and financial services. He said that i had a cheque to come back and because it was over a thousand pounds he had to verify my details. He knew my name address who i banked with and the first 4 numbers on my card (oh he did say the first four numbers on the card relate to your address)? and asked me to read out the rest to verify that they matched to his numbers. I said if he had my number then he could relay to me what the last two numbers were so i could ensure that this is genuine. Yer as if he did. He repeated he wanted me to read the numbers out and i said this is a scam, then again he related to why he was phoning for and from where (as stated above) alot of people heard in the back ground. I again said this was a scam and he could keep the money and he hung up. This can easily catch you out especially when they have a fair amount of info. Phone companies do your bit and track these parasites down as i am sure that with the Technology under your fingers you should be able to catch them, as they find it easy to scam you.

- bikerchick replies to woolly| 1 replyHello Peeps, I have just had a call from this number but I no longer need to answer as my machine does it for me. It is worth it's weight in gold. My solution....GET ONE!!
Tell all your friends & family to speak into the machine & you can answer when you know it's safe to do so.
We don't have to put up with this rubbish, cold calls, marketing, PPI calls, ambulance chasers etc etc the list is endless.
Peace & happiness, BC - SamI just had a call from 02256800256. Luckily I lost my temper as I couldn't understand what the very heavily accented caller was saying, and I put the phone down without listening to his Bull****.
- J Gray| 1 replyJust had call from this number. My partner and I are not married, yet he asked to speak to Mr (using partners surname), I said there was no one here by that name. He then proceeded to inform me that he was from Dept of Finance as was wanting to pay me money that was owed to me from bank for PPI and other charges. I have never taken out PPI. He then proceeded to give me my address and postcode, and then asked for my DOB, to which I replied that I wasn't happy to, considering he addressed me by the wrong name. I asked for his details, to which he replied, after you give me your DOB, I declined and he hung up. Clearly of Asian origin by accent. Dirty scammers, no scruples what with it being so close to Xmas. Makes me sick.

They assured me that i had money to be paid back to my by my bank
They had my name and address then they asked me for personal details to verify my claim
I told them they had called me so i wanted to verify who they were
They hung up
Dont give these pepole your detaails - Nan replies to JohnAs you obviously know, there is no such thing as "The UK Department of Finance". Apart from that, no organisation connected with the Government would do business by cold calling. Still, I suppose we should be grateful that these scammers are thick.
- Anonym replies to Applethey know your details because they call weeks in advance imposing as a data collection company asking very politely if you wouldnt mind answering a few questions for a market research company they work for.
- DaveMy wife got call from the people today saying that money was to be repaid due to over charging of bank charges. The caller geve the impression that he knew both the address and debit card no and said that they, The ministry of Finance H.M. Treasury, had frozen the bank account. My wife said that they couldn't do that and hung up. He rang back and I took the call and asked his name and who he was ringing from and informed him that I was going to inform the bank and the police to which he replied the number is 999.
We subsequently reported the call to both the bank and the police. The police forwarded our call to the National Fraud Office who are now looking into the case.
I suggest anyone else who has a similar call do likewise.- Caller: 02256800256
