- CGot a call today Indian accent asking for my brother I told him he was at work just hung up on me so rude, any genuine caller would not do this
- Eleanor TurnerI have just received a series of telephone calls from this number and the person speaking to me became very abusive indeed when I asked to be taken off their company's list. The man repeatedly swore and me, swearing over me in the most abusive, insulting terms possible. He then proceeded to threaten my family,
Could you please find out where this call comes from? People like him should not be allowed to work for any company, real or fake.
Thank you.
Eleanor Turner- Caller: something like 'UK Independent finance company'
- Fred KarloffI just had a call from "UK Financial Organisation". The chap, with a foreign accent, claimed he was based in Eastbourne and had bank charges in excess of £1,000 which I could be refunded.
Apart from having my phone number and name, he asked for my bank account. I made up an account and strung him along (up to a point) and then I hung up.
Amazingly, he rang me back and tried his luck again. This time he seemed to have the first four digits of the long number on the front of my genuine bank's debit card, AND the first four digits of the seven numbers on the back.on the back of the card. What he wanted, of course, was the the magic final three numbers on the back, which I declined to give him.
He was almost convincing. He said his name was Kevin Watson, employee number ID 4512 KL – I'm guessing the KL is probably for Kuala Lumpur! Why the phone companies can't block these scammers amazes me. I'm supposed to be ex-directory, too!
I can imagine how some innocent people might be duped by these [***].- Caller: UK Financial Organisation
- Al replies to ChubseyI too had a call from someone from the "UK Finance Department" that went extremely weird. Asian sounding man (background noise sounded like a call centre). The number was withheld - came out on our phone as 'private caller' - but so do calls from my work, so I have to answer them. Anyway, he asked my age, so I told him 35 (I'm not). He misheard and said, "25? Then you must be very hot and sexy". I was dumbfounded and said I didn't understand why that was relevant. He went on to insist that he was in love with me and that he wanted to visit me in my house. "I'm just calling to say that I am in love with you, maam". He said that he was called Jack Petersen (madness!) and that he was a friend of my husband and had already been to my house. So I put my husband on. When confronted with his lie (and my husband saying, "So you're in love with my wife are you?") he just brazened it out and then asserted that he had already met with me in a restaurant and that we had "kissed on the lips". He then started to talk about a hidden camera in our house and we got bored of ripping the piss because he was not getting it at all, so we put the phone down. It was really bizarre and I still can't work out what the point was except personal sexual gratification. I called our local police and they agreed he was probably just a bored call centre worker, but it's alarming to find a similar story. I agree that they know that they can't be traced so don't care.
- ArchMonsterGot a call this morning - Indian sounding voice - claiming to be from the Department of Finance. When I queried this sounding like a Government Department he said they were working with their approval and when I asked for their address I was told Eastbourne. After 2 or 3 minutes of querying what exactly they were working on that had to do with a Government-backed scheme, the caller was obviously not meeting his call quota and I was bluntly told to, "F*** Off, mother f***er" and the line went dead. Time for Trading Standards to do something about this I think.
- Caller: Department of Finance
- IronManAndyJust had a call from these jokers as per all previous posts above stating he was from the UK Department of Finance telling me i was due a refund of £2000, i asked him which bank owed me the money and stated a bank i don't bank with, then a second i don't bank with. I told him Barclay and he said 'yes just testing you' i don't back with them either. In the mean time i had checked the web and found the links to the scam from an Indian sounding man calling etc. I confronted him with this and he denied it as he hadn't asked for my bank details but had started to ask for information ie date of birth, please be warned!!!!!

- Intelligent lady lolMy friend has just had a call from this company uk department of finace and I will tell you what he is very clever but these guys nearly fooled him. Same scenario as you guys but because he read the first 4 numbers of his debit card and new his name and address he thought it was geniune( until I could smell bad) I didn't even ask for the phone I just took it off him lol. The Asian guy who very freely gave the information of my friend including dob address and 4 digits if his bank card . I stopped him immediately and said he shouldnt be disclosing this information to me due to confidentiality . i then went onto say he ain't very clever is he as I knew everyone's card starts with the same 3 numbers and the 4 is either a 8 or a 9when he said 8and I laughed he said oh no I mean 9. He then went onto say am a very intelligant lady lol he said I am going to put the phone down and ran sack the bank account ( [***]) please note everyone don't be drawn in by this sick sick scam, they think they are clever and in some cases this will be true. If you do receive a call contact the police as the fraud team need to know about this stuff.

- concerned motherEarlier this evening my son received a phone call from a man with an indian accent who claimed he was phoning from the uk dept of finance on behalf of barclays bank. He said that my son was owed a significent amount of money from overpaid bank charges and in order to send the refund he would need my sons bank details. I overheard this conversation and got involved by talking to this man. He was very animated, talking very fast and insisted I write down the address and postcode from where he was phoning (the tel no was showing on my phone and I wrote it down). I said that if he was phoning on behalf of barclays that he would have my sons details anyway and that if he was genuine he should put a cheque in the post, then hung up. He continually tried phoning back but we decided not to pick up again - what a total fraudulent idiot!! My son contacted his bank to inform them he may have been hacked, and we have reported this to the police and consumer direct. The phone no this dispicable person is now using is 020245568745, best ignoring it!!!
