- MariGoldPlease can someone suggest a way of bringing these people out in the open so we can do something about the companies behind them
I am registered with TPS but that doesn't stop the calls - it seem they cannot do anything unless a complaints form is completed for each number giving dates times and the name of the company - I refuse to pick up my receiver to check as usually they ring off (I do not want them to know the number is answered as this may encourage even more calls) and they never leave a message
I now have a total of 17 different numbers and several "withheld" - mojo replies to frankI also received one of these calls and they also knew i had a Credit Card. When I wouldnt give any details he said my Debit and Credit cards would be frozen for a month as I wouldnt proceed with the claim. Needless to say I hung up.

- Jon - DorsetThey just called me (Indian accent), claimed to be from "UK Payment and Claims Department". I asked if that was a UK company. He said yes. I said it was a funny name for a company. he agreed, but anyhow, he was calling about some payment protection insurance that I had paid to the bank. I asked which bank. He asked which banks I was with. I said, no, you tell me which bank I paid insurance to. He hung up.
I did a 1471 and found he had called from 02256 800256.
Clearly scammers.
It would be nice if there was someone who actually took action against these sorts of people. But in the meantime - be careful out there!- Caller: "UK Payment and Claims Department"
- FrankpCall received 18:53 23/09/11. No-one spoke but 'call centre' type noise in the background. Hung up.

- dumbo/ronaldOn 7th September i reported i was scammed by this number. I do not work or are involved with 1st call claims who are based in eastbourne.I reported i was scammed for 99.99 which was taken from my bank i reported this to police and scambusters i was really upset i read all reports in this column about this number 02256800256.I tried to contact 1st call claims a few times and finally succedded on Friday 16th September and spoke to a lovely english girl called Jenny who worked for 1st call she immediatly offered me a refund. We spoke about the call from 02256800256 which is yes an indian call centre i told her about the site with this number and told her about these people from india are causing a lot of people to be very upset because of their disgraceful behaviour not answering when people pick up the phone and the way they hang up on people.Jenny told me i would recieve a pack from 1 st call claims which i did on 19th sept which had paperwork to take to bank and claim monies ie ppi. Having read the paperwork i found it was not suitable for spoke to Jenny on Friday 23rd sept and was told i would recieve a cheque in 14 days she also told me that 1st call claims are not using indian call centres i expressed my concern that a lot of people get upset so thse call must be communicated clearly if they are going to help people claim monies owed.

- just mehave just had this call from above number stating i had money due to me, could i give bank or credit card details. I said no - you keep the money !!!
- Sand1| 1 replyMy daughter rang me earlier today to tell me she had a call telling her she was due a refund on bank charges and asking for her details etc. to warn me. Within the hour I received the same sort of call from this number identifying them as UK Finance. No search results for them on Google by the way. An Asian sounding young man asked me how I was. I said fine, and I asked him how he was. Niceties over, he informed me that I had been overcharged on my bank charges and that I was due a refund. I said that was brilliant news and looked forward to receiving the cheque, and then I hung up. I have run out of 'call barring' slots on my phone unfortunately. As other people keep asking. Is there anyone out there who is able to do something about these scammers? If this phone number is traceable, why can't they be caught and prosecuted. When people lose money out of their accounts, this is criminal, so why aren't more of them being prosecuted?
- Caller: UK Finance (?)
- Heather Taylor-Nicholson| 1 replyJust got this number. I picked up the phone and the person either hung up or there was no one speaking. I tried 1741 and the number is not recognised. Seems to be a scam then, so I won't worry but will let my family know to be careful. Many thanks. :)
- Caller: Unknown
- Heather Taylor-Nicholson replies to Heather Taylor-NicholsonYikes! That should be 1471! Forgot to add, whoever it was called twice within 20 minutes, and again was either cut off or hung up.
- My real name ??? loll| 1 replyAfter reading all of these comments I've had the exact same thing ...... same Indian accent .. But the guy knew the first 6 digits of my long card number and wanted to confirm them rest along with the security number on the back etc. What got me was im already acclaiming my PPI back from genuine sources already. I told the Indian guy I'm recording this phone call and he got very stressed and hung up.
Ive contacted my bank immediately and my card has been cancelled. Good luck to them in frauding me out of my hard earned money now.
LOSERS.- Caller: east sussex financial services or something.
- Call type: Prank
- MikeAn Indian-sounding man rang me from 02256800256 and asked by name for Mr D*** (the previous owner of my house, who moved out 14 years ago). He claimed to be from 'UK Finance Department'. When I said I wasn't Mr D*** he rang off. Clearly a scammer with a list of names and addresses that's at least 14 years old. A quick web search gave the information 'Numbers starting 02256 800 are probably not valid'. No surprise there!
