- DatumXI have just got one of these letters and did not think it was genuine as the printing of the symbol is poor and the accompanying sheet is very badly copied, practically illegible. Having done some research on the numbers though, I have found that they are legitimate. I called and found out that I had been prosecuted in my absence in West Yorkshire where I used to live (I live in Staffordshire now) It related to a DVLA error when I sold a car. The DVLA asked the court in West Yorkshire to enforce a fine which they did (£250). They had been writing to me at a previous address and so I had no opportunity to reply to the case but it seems that they have now traced me. I have been told to ask my local magistrates to allow me to make a Statutory Declaration to assert that I have not been at the previous address. This will be sent to the West Yorkshire court and the judgment will/should be voided. The DVLA may then seek to fine me again but will have to start at the beginning. It is possible that you may have been a victim of identity fraud though see http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news/Le ... mare.6675847.jp Don’t ignore the letter or you may get a strike against your credit score. Hope this was helpful.

- WatsonYeah, it's not a scam. Just had a call from them pointing out that I'm overdue on a payment plan for my speeding fine (which is correct, I did get caught speeding and did incur a fine), and offered to start me off on the payment plan from now without any further charges. Pretty reasonable guy on the phone actually, even if he did sound a little drunk.
Of course, there's the possibility that, as mentioned by DatumX, you've been a victim of identity fraud, or maybe been tried in court in absence after moving from an old address and not being aware of the correspondence from them. But don't ignore the phone calls! More charges and further action will be taken if you pass this off as nothing more than a scam.- Caller: West Yorkshire Collection and Enforcement Centre

Only trouble is they haven't updated their logo...where the court and tribunal services have merged and the logo on the letter only mentions the old name! Additionally i have been stopped and cheched out by the police this morning who let me get on after checking out my bike and drivers licence details...

- tonymy wife received the same letter as everyone else on here. we called the automated number 1st, then the office number. we had a response to the landline number but, she would not give us infomation regarding the 'fine'. we then rung the police in newcastle, they knew nothing about it. we then rang newcastle council, they knew nothing about it, we then rang our local police who suggested we rang the local trading standards office, via the local council. they said they would pass it to trading standards . the lady at council level thought it might be a scam. so we are holding our breathe that it is a scam. please DO NOT pay the 'fine' or whatever it is about, instead get in touch with trading standards office. good luck
- johnMy wife got a letter saying she must pay £600,within 10 days to make payment you had to ring this no 03007909901, it was from lincolnshire central finance? i called lincs county council and they didnt have a clue what it was about
- CjI've received 2 texts claiming to be from HMCTS they both said "PAYMENT TO COURT IS DUE IN 7 DAYS. Pay by credit/debit card on 03007909901. Division 047. If UNABLE to pay call 01934 528528 option 3". Seems a bit rich that I got the first about 9 days ago and the second today... Due in 7 days indeed. Nothing about who I am, what the fine is for or even HOW MUCH the fine is... I though it was real at first as I had a speeding ticket and did get a *real* letter about it yesterday, I called the number on the letter and the lady took my full payment. But now I've received another text after I've paid my real fine I know it must just be a scam...
- barbarareceived a text message re a reminder to pay my fine!!!!! told about this site by my daughter so feel a lot happier this morning!
