    Hi guys,

This would be about the second time of receiving such letters in the post in the last two years. I ignored the first one letter because it does not state what the fine was meant for. Second one just came yesterday and having a kin look at the state of the letter, the logo looks like a scanned copy and there are several errors in the letter, such as mark all correspondence to the fine officer, instead of make all correspondence  to the fine officer. I would still hold on until someone knocks my door for the warrant of arrest. This is nothing but a huge scam. Watch out please!!!

I've just had one of those too. It looked exactly like the ones you're describing and of course no way of getting through on the phone.  Mine was for an overdue payment of a fine for 50 pounds.  As I don't have a car and have had no dealings with the police what on earth can I have been fined for.  I've decided to WRITE back to them at the court's address (not including a payment obviously) and ask them to explain what is going on.  I very much doubt I'll get a reply but will post if I hear anything else.

I got a letter too. I havent done anything and i do not own a car. I have had no previous letters to back this up. Also the letter does not state what i have done. £321.90 is my 'fine'. Tried calling and there was no answer, gonna try again and if they do not bother to pick up then im not gonna bother to pay... not that was going to anyway... unless it turns out to be real. Then i might... if there lucky.

I got a reply from the court. It relates to a fine of 450 which I paid in full at the time........and get this - dated May 2000..........12 years ago.!!!! I finally managed to get hold of someone at the court service and they were very helpful but completely at a loss as to why I had recieved this letter.  They are currently "investigating" but it appears that THEY have been hacked as I also got a bailiff's notice on the back of it which was demanding a further 135 pounds.  I have forwarded all copies of all correspondence to all parties and am arguing my case whole-heartedly.  I remember the occasion of being fined and I remember paying it. I did something wrong and I'm not proud of it but this is just a scam of some sort whereby someone is somehow getting hold of people's records.

Because so many people tell this forum and others, but do not take positive action.       Why not start by reporting it at your local Police Station?

Hello I just arrived back from Dublin for the weekend to be greeted by one these red letter saying I owe £700 from west yorkshire collection and enforcement centre with 10days to pay! There is absolutely no explanation for what?

They said i failed to make a payment and this is the first I am hearing about it. So where on earth was first letter if they have my address?

I think I will just write them to explain what is going on.

I have recieved the same letter.
    This is complete scam.

I did not respond to them as I know they are fake, the poorly written letter, the cheap paper and positioning of the writing.
    I ignored them.
Last week I had a hand delivered letter at my home address which is quite worrying.

I am going to either call the police non emergency number on 101 or go to the police station as this is now harrassment.

I suggest you get in contact withe the authorities.

I will let you know how I get on.

My girlfriends daugter just recieved the same scam by txt. O f course I knew straight away without looking it was a scam but she was in such a flap.
She phoned us and we told her do not phone any numbers...
She said "but what if it's real" there was no talking her down and she called the non 0300 number which I have searched online and claims to be a telesales company lol.
Anyway when she called they claimed it was for someoene else that she has signed for to get a phone, someone by a name she has never heard before.
I am thinking it might be some sort of premium number although it appears to be a local number, is it possible to redirect or something so a normal number will incur premium charges.

I have advised she report to the police too.

My elderly father in law (nearly 80 !) got one of these letters advising him that he had a fine of £100 as he had no valid insurance on his car. He was furious as his car is insured so he wrote to the address on the letter advising them that he intended to take them to court for harassment instead of the other way around. Unsurprisingly he received no response to his lettter and so phoned his local police station who confirmed that this was a scam. So beware.

So I managed to get to the bottom of mine.

Its a scam within a scam.

After sending loads of letters to courts and the address the fine came from! finally!

After going around in circles with the courts and traffic enforcement centre in Northhampton. (TEC had no record of me, though the court did)

I attended court and appeared in front of a judge. I had all my letters and explained myself.

    I have now sorted it.

When i arrived home after court, I had a letter returned from the address the original letter had come from.

    Guess what it said.......

    ADDRESSEE GONE AWAY

I have been stressed for months with this worry! i am so glad it is over!

I advise you all to contact your local court and do as I did, Do not ignore it because I had debt collectors on my back.

These people can not get away with this! The letters i was getting contained an incorrect phone number (listed 3 times). The offence 'occured' in 2007! It was sent from a PO BOX address.

I have set up an email

    hmctsfraud@gmail.com.

If you need any advise, please feel free to send me a message.

Good Luck to you all!! :)
