it inst a scam but $49 per month you only get $350 worth of calls and text. $79= $610 $129 = $1200. not really what you can call unlimited and premium numbers 1300,1800,  13, 19,are all charged extra outside of cap  the lcd or laptops (netbook) are only free when 4 of your friends who you recommend to them join and pay their first 4 bills on time.  billing is not very good with first month pro rated billing so if you sign up expect a bill (even after you pay your first month in advance ) within 2 weeks of starting contract

    Mif.
if you have been HARASSED by this company JUST LIKE I HAVE.
call the "Australian do not call register" on 1300 792 958 [i found it in the white pages]

the following is what i have done to WIN my fight against these pushy, rude and ILLEGAL telemarketers.

MAKE SURE U STAY ON LINE TO SPEAK TO AN ACTUAL PERSON

they will sign you up tot he DO NOT CALL REGISTER and say it takes 30 days to become active.
i then said "what so they are allowed to HARASS me within this time frame?"

please quote one or more of the below standards that this company breached when contacting you ENSURE you have told them "you do not have permission to ever call this number again" and they have called back.
there are four standards that telemarketers MUST follow, including:
    "termination of calls when requested"
    "showing line identification"
    "calling during normal times"
    "giving company details"

despite what they say DO NOT hang up within making a formal complaint against the company.

This will turn the matter into a LEGAL matter, the more of us that do this the quicker the problem is solved by all.

congratulations on helping me WIN the fight against TELEMARKETERS.

    (03) 99360500 and 1300785847 = EDirect Pty Ltd (trading as VIPTel)

EDirect Pty Ltd is being watched by Australian authorities after being prosecuted by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (the ACCC) for breaches of the Trade Practices Act 1974. See this ACCC link: http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/813144

See this link for a PDF document on the full story:
    http://www.accc.gov.au/content/item.phtml?ite ... Undertaking.pdf

On 12 February 2008, Judge Reeves declared that Vishal Gupta and Manan Chopra (then managers of EDirect) “aided, abetted, counselled or procured EDirect to contravene the Act”. Why is this significant?

The Federal Court of Australia (NT) ordered that Vishal appoint an independent Compliance Office within EDirect to “develop procedures for recording, storing and responding to trade practice complaints”.

So, if you have complaints about being deceived or harassed in a call from EDirect (trading as VIPTel) it is STRONGLY recommended that you email your complaint to EDirect at: compliance@edirectptyltd.com.au Try to include as many details of the call as you can: time, date, operator’s name, what EDirect tried to sell you, why you thought what was said was deceptive or misleading (like they got your name from a friend or a relative who doesn’t exist).

It is also interesting to note that a company called DelhiCall with an address at Sco-34, Sector 14, Old Delhi Guragaon Rd, Guragaon, Haryana 122001 India, lists as its two top managers, Vishal Gupta (CEO) and Manan Chopra (President). DelhiCall states: “Manan’s core competencies include business development, operations management, human resources, systems development and facilities administration. His business development strategies have been a key factor in growing DelhiCall’s operations by more than 500% in just three short years, landing accounts with VIPtel, TrendWest and T-Mobile, to name just a few.” http://www.delhicall.com/aboutus.html Is this a case of the snake swallowing its own tail?

Know your Australian consumer rights not to be bothered or deceived by telemarketers or researchers. See these sites: https://www.donotcall.gov.au/mi.cfm and http://www.acma.gov.au/WEB/STANDARD/pc=PC_100991

Cut out most of the annoying calls by putting yourself on the “Do Not Call Register”. See this link: https://www.donotcall.gov.au/

Researchers are not Telemarketers, so do not mix the two up. This link clearly explains the difference: http://www.mrsa.com.au/index.cfm?a=detail&id=2706&eid=140)

Below is a guide for Australian Market Research or Telemarketing calls:-
    1.    Research calls to a “Do Not Call” registered number (are legal, during certain hours)
    2.    Research calls to a silent number (are legal, during certain hours)
    3.    Research calls to combined silent & “Do Not Call” number (are legal, during certain hours)
    4.    Researchers must identify themselves with caller ID (by Australian law)
    5.    Researchers must terminate the call if you ask them to (by law)
    6.    Telemarketers and Researchers must provide you with information on request (by law)
    7.    Telemarketers and Researchers must not be deceptive or misleading (Trade Practices Act)
    8.    Telemarketers must terminate the call if you ask them to (by law)
    9.    Telemarketers must identify themselves with caller ID (by law)
    10.    Telemarketing calls to publically listed numbers (are legal, during certain times)
    11.    Telemarketing calls to a “Do Not Call” number registered for 30 days or more (illegal)
    12.    Telemarketing calls where they pretend to be doing research (illegal)

No telemarketer or researcher can call you on a Sunday.

It is illegal for telemarket operator to deceive you by claiming to be a researcher and then using a "bait-and-switch" tactic to change the initial market research call into a selling call.
    http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/cth/consol_act/tpa1974149/s52.html

If EDirect (or any other telemarketer) phones you and they tell you they are "selling" and you are on the "Do Not Call Register" they may have committed an offence under the Do Not Call Register Act 2006.

If you are on the Do Not Call Register, it is the telemarketer's responsibility to “wash” their databases clean of your number BEFORE they call you (even if they are calling from overseas).

Consumer complaints are very valuable to the ACMA, and they want you to complain to them if you think EDirect is selling you something at a time when they should only be researching because you are on the “Did Not Call Register”. You must have been on the Do Not Call Register for at least 30-days before you can claim its full protection.

Start with lodging a complaint with the EDirect Compliance Officer (see my post above) and ALSO lodge a complaint with the ACMA. This ensures the Compliance Office at EDirect is doing its job. See the ACMA website on how to start lodging your complaint/s: http://www.acma.gov.au/WEB/STANDARD/pc=PC_310679
