Report a phone call from 07012212212 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- ClareI have found this on anotehr site. Answers some of your questions.
I have just had this call again - my third scam call in a hour! I am getting really annoyed.
I just called the number back and got a bloke - just put the phone down on him! then I found this on another site.
How do we stop these calls!!
Hi all
I have had a few nuisance calls over the past 3 weeks or so.
This is one of those scams where a computer random dials numbers in an area and connects you to an operator if you answer. Therefore, it can sound like nobody is there until an operator is free. The operators will try and sell you something, usually mobile contracts, house insurance, etc. Seems as though the scam is running from India - so BT are powerless.
The phone number in question is 07012212212. Be warned - if you do a 1471 and then call them to give them a piece of your mind, you will:
1) Pay 50p per minute premium rate for calling them
2) Confirm that your number is in use
You can control the scammers with BTs "Chose To Refuse" product. It annoys me that BT charge for that service.
Finally - you can look up scammers numbers using this website. The thread for 07012212212 is here. - GemmaHi
I just got a call from 07012212212 thought it was strange when i answered and it went blank then started ringing. thanks for the people on here who know who it is i shall not be answering it again if it rings. - :@:@ got the call jus now and no one talked!!!
- FlopRight. Had a nice call from Karen? offering mobile contracts. She had some pronunciation problems (Glokester) with her Indian accent. So I was not too happy about releasing personal data (Data Protection Act). She then said that she was calling from Scotland (Right) and that the company was British. On further pressing, she said that the company was Scottish and therefore there were no problems with the DPA. Then got a bit flustered when I started on about the TPS. She was in a lose-lose situation. Finally said that the company was reputable, British and that I could check on their website.
They do sell mobile phone tariffs and they do outsource – “call activity is made from the UK and various world wide locations including India”. ['About us']
But there is no indication of Accident claims activity.
So, the answer is – www.T3Direct.co.uk
Not sure what my next move is. Suggestions or offers? - JulieAn Asian man called my elderly mother's number 'luckily' she couldn't understand him very well but did manage to catch something about her daughter at the hospital following a serious road accident. The call worried my mother and she frantically tried to call me to check that I was ok. It took her about an hour to track me down by which time she was very upset. On reflection I suspect that he was trying to tell her that following a road accident there was a compensation payment due and he was probably trying to get her bank details. I suspect that the calls are made in the hope of reaching the more vulnerable elderly people, this is why when a young voice answers the phone the caller is silent and ends the call.
- John PooleI have now had at least 3 calls from this number and it is becoming a real pain in the *** because of its frequency and annoyance that there is never a human being on the other end. But how do stop it.
- R Porter7th January. Had a call at 3.05pm but no one answered, line went dead. Our number is registered for TPS so don't know why there should be any cold calling. This number needs to be cut off from service. Probably from Asian sub continent.
Had an unknown caller earlier today making a cold call. Definitely someone with an Asian accent. Probably from an Asian call centre and he didn't understand Telephone Preference Service.
Why can't BT do something about these nuisance calls. - Mike PalmerHad this call about 4 times now, end up running from one end of the house to the other to have the phone put down on m when I answer. I f I catch hold of him i'll !!!! Well you know what I mean - V annoying
- Caller: Who Knows
- jillhad this number call my business 0800 line today! I didn't pick it up as i wasn't sure it was genuine....glad i checked here first!
- Caller: Who knows?
- ArthurI keep finding one or more calls from this number on my phone when I get in from work. I am also registered with TPS.
From the comments I have read on this site about other people's close encounters with these guys, I would suggest that they are using a list of customer information obtained illegally from a call centre. This is a growing problem affecting call centres in India -- organised gangs are stealing and selling-on vast amounts of sensitive customer information, including phone numbers. So either BT, or your bank, or your utility supplier, operating a call centre in India, is probably where the leak occurred.
The callers may be after personal information to enable them to use your stolen details in some scam. DO NOT TELL THEM ANYTHING.
I have reported this to BT and my bank, just to be safe.
Arthur - AnonDo we think these guys have the data the government lost in the post on those CDs?!?!?!? I want a reward!!
- AnonJust had a call from this number five minutes ago. Asian woman was clearly very flustered and very difficult to understand (which in my experience of Indian call centres is unusual), asked me how I was and as soon as I asked her what she wanted the phone went dead. Just googled the number and found this website.
- emmaI work during the day so am never here when the caller rings.
At least twice a week for about the last 6 - 8 weeks I come home to this number on my missed call list. - John HowarthI have been rang twice now on two successive days whilsy not in the house. There is no message left
- AnonJust received a call from 07012 212 212 which went to the answerphone with no message. After looking at this website i am glad i didnt anwser it or return the number. Im also with TPS but it is out of there jurisdiction as it is an international roaming number.
- IanHad about 100 calls from this number over the last few days, 4 calls at once on one occassion, this is a VOIP number and cannot be called back, the called states he is calling about the accident someone has had on this number??, we are a Solicitors, why would we need a claims handling company. Ring a proper Solicitor
- Caller: Claims Handling Company
- VicAn Asian man named Sean just called. He knew my name (well, he got it wrong, but he was close enough) and wanted to talk about my Three account. I've never even had one, but I still get lots of calls, insisting that I'm a customer.
He said I should ring BT and tell them that I don't want to receive such calls from now on, and they'll stop them... Yeah, right. Then, moments later, the same number called and hung up as soon as I picked up.
Bloody annoying, this! The Three network should be ashamed. - GBRDidn't get as far as talking to anyone. Caller just hung up. Surely TPS can do something about this or should it be the police as this is a nuisance call as far as I am concerned.
- Caller: none given
- NatalieGot a call about ten minutes ago from this number, just silence though on the other end. Waited to see if someone would speak, and after about ten seconds they, it, or whoever put the phone down. Its really annoying, cos we've only just changed our number to ex-directory because we were getting crank calls before. Apparently having a spam filter on your number does nothing.
- BeattyWe had a call about 5 minutes ago - there was no sound, then ringing then an Asian man said to my Mum that someone in our family had been in an accident. Mum and Dad have always been ex-directory but have been getting repeated phone calls from 07012 212212 recently and are not happy! What exactly these people want or hope to achieve from making people worry is beyond me (I haven't hurt my mum's feelings by telling her they seem to be targeting, ahem, 'older' people...)
