I'm a person with morals and know that flogging over priced solar to people in their 80's is wrong. And deep down so does Bradley Chapman that's why they sacked the staff and locked the offices and left Brentwood.

If they didnt think they'd done wrong they'd still be trading.

I have read through the last few pages and apart from the noise it seems to be a few ex staff defending the company and one person who is defending watchdogs actions and even quoting the number of complaints they had. Do you work for watchdog? If so why are you posting on a forum? Surely that goes against bbc values for their staff to post negative information on a forum to justify their unbiased broadcasting.

The general conversation appears to revolve around a few factors, bradley chapman being bad, selling to people over 80, saying that you work in conjunction with the government when u don't, being expensive, having lots complaints, the company having a ruthless approach to sales and then of course why did it close when it did. With the help of a translator I can just about read what the staff are trying to say and bless them they don't articulate themselves as well as the bbc researcher or journalist who's posting on here but I think they are trying to say is that they actually liked bradley chapman, that the company had a policy to not sell to anyone over 80 and that maybe one or two over 80s slipped through the net, that the company didn't in fact prey on old people it was simply that older people buy solar. They seem to imply that although some people did say they worked in conjunction with the government  it wasn't company policy. No one appears to be trying to defend how expensive they were. I think that the staff are saying that the company had 1000s of customers so it was bound to have some complaints. No ones appears to be defending that they were ruthless. I think they are implying that maybe the threat of the company appearing on rogue traders was enough to make them shut up shop or that the boss made knee jerk reaction to the threat of the company appearing on the show? this is the most interesting question for me, can any staff shed any light on why the company closed when it did?

The daily mirror don't run an item on one complaint. There would be lots of complsints to generate their interest. they may have only published one but that doesn't meet there was only one.

    Why did directors fall out?

That's very assumptive, it's one paragraph and it mentions one customer. What makes you think it refers to more than one? as a researcher for the bbc maybe you could you could find out how many complaints the mirror had to 'run an item'?

The Mirror features 4 stories about 4 companies. Story one is about trivium ltd and features 2 customer complaints, the other 3 stories feature (including this company) only have one customer complaint each which leads us to assume if there was more than one complaint then the mirror would of featured it as well.

As a result of a BBC Watchdog ‘Rogue Traders’ investigation ‘British Solar’ has ceased trading. BBC’s Watchdog undertook an undercover investigation into British Solar both by having someone pretend to be a potential customer and also a member of staff to reveal the full details of their business operations.

The report which was broadcast on Thursday 13th November lays bare the company’s sales practices and can be viewed on BBC Iplayer.

Bradley Chapman was the commercial director.

‘British Solar’ was by no means the only company engaged in these unsavoury practices, and it’s not just limited to the solar industry. It’s a good idea to alert any elderly relatives, friends and neighbours about this so that they can be vigilant.

The report focuses on the sales tactics but the installation that they have the aerial photo of has solar panels facing in every direction, including north, which is useless, and it also shows the panels far too close to the edges of the roof.

U keep re posting  the same post about watchdog I think anyone who's reading this will be aware of the show by now mate! Thanks for pointing it out that watchdog put so much pressure on a struggling company that it had to shut it doors and get rid of 150 staff mainly young people who wont find work elsewhere.

Oh the injustice of it all! It's such a shame these 150 staff won't be able to continue fleecing the general public and making the directors filthy rich in the process. It's just not fair is it? Please pass me a goblet, because my heart is bleeding.
