Actually this number is one of t-mobile text message centre number. T-mobile started offering the service of sending text message to landlines, which would be read out in a female automated voice. My husband and I were using this service for a while, as it is convenient to know that he has safely arrived at the office every morning without actually calling me up every time. If the text is from someone you do not know, that would be a problem for you though. Also, it has some faults or bugs, and I had to receive the same message again and again and then it was totally unavailable now.

07953966066 seems to be a SMS/text to landline delivery service which is somehow connected to T-mobile. BT introduced a similar service a few years ago and provide a means of providing a "curfew" via 0800 587 5252. I have yet to establish whether this curfew extends to all SMS/Text messages or just those sent via the BT system. It may therefore be necessary to call 07953966066 to implement a similar curfew, but like everybody else I am reluctant to do so because it breaks the golden rule of not phoning back 07 numbers and potentially incurring some indeterminate costs...

In my view, these SMS/text services shouldn't be enabled on any landline unless explicitily requested: just like 1571 voicemail...!

This number is simply a text to speech service provided to users by their networks. Just call BT on 08005875252 and listen to the options. People use this service sometimes legitimately but also to make abusive/prank calls without their voice or number being recognised.

    Simples!

Yeah, I got one of those at 10.30pm saturday 29th Aug. What [***] think that they can scam you by thinking that you aren't doing better than waiting for anonymous calls, like it's someone who can love you or something? (when I am out and about with REAL people). Why don't they get a life, instead of thinking they can make money out of what they assume is other people's so-called 'loneliness'... ?

I missed the call when it arrived but when I checked my answerphone it was a text message from a friend of mine being spoken in a very mechanical voice which made it hard to understand. It looks as though it is a message service that is used when someone sends a text message to a land line instead of a mobile.

My parents received a call from this number in the middle of the night.I wanted to investigate to find out who sent the message. From entries in this log I thought the number was a T mobile service.I contacted T Mobile customer service who denied they were responsible.

Has anybody investigated who the service provider is?-Can anybody give me an email address to forward a complaint?

Hi Guys, just thought I should clear this up a litte; I used to work for T-Mobile and if someone sends a text message from their mobile to a landline number, the message will be read out to you, however in some cases the message will be blank, either if someone has not typed anything in or if the message was sent but because of a delay on the network it doesn't arrive for 72 hours (the longest period of time before attempts to forward the message from the text messaging platform to your phone are abandoned and the message deleted).  The number 07953966066 is the T-Mobile messaging platform which holds the message temporarily and then keeps trying to send it to your phone and will continue to try sending until it receives a signal back from the phone that the message has been delivered.  Anyone that has a T-Mobile phone, if you have a missed call you will have a text message through from 07953966066 giving you the number that called you and the time & Date.  If you want to try it yourself to reassure yourself, just send a message from your mobile to your landline and you will see that the same thing happens.  I'm not sure how it works with any other providers but I know that this is how it works with T-Mobile.  Hope this helped.

I had an ex-partner (Mark Nicholson)call me on my landline from another landline based in Kettering 01536 526187.My son answered the phone and gave it to me not knowing who it was. As soon as he said his name I put the phone down.  About a minute later the phone rang again, this time I let the 1571 answerphone take it.  When I listened to the message it just told me to call 07953 966066 then repeated the message.  I did not call the number as I had no intention of speaking to him. I have now looked up both numbers on google and come across this website.  I am leaving this message as a WARNING NOT TO CALL 07953 966066 number. I am sure that if this is a scam he would most definitely be involved as he is a get rich quick conman.

Got this call while teaching a class in China, but didn't answer it at the time. it was diverted from my UK number, but I was not allowed to call the number from outside the UK.  No one has yet said who is calling! I guess I should add it to screened calls.

This is not a scam!  I received a call but didn't answer it because I did not recognise the number.  When I listened to the message on 1571 it stated that I had received a message from a number I did recognise (in fact I had been trying to ring it earlier) but the voice text was blank.  I rang my friend back and it transpired that her mobile messaging service had rang her in relation to the missed call from me and invited her to ring back and leave a voice text for me.  She did this but got confused and hung up -- hence my "blank" call.  Not a scam, but a case of technology being too clever for its own good I think.
