Same number called me but I didnt answer. I am a Virgin Media customer also (and have recently made an unconnected complaint to them??)I used to work in a call centre and understand that even if the call is genuine they need to ask questions to confirm who u are, but i still never answer cos u never know if they are genuine or not!

I just spoke with a bloke from this number, he offered me a very good Virgin Media deal. Told him I'm interested and asked him if he could point me to a website link for further information. He stated that there's no information on the VM website about this offer and I have to take it now or never. Sounds like a scam.

Just recently been receiving phone calls from the same number (08000135333). Had no idea who or what it is. There's never any comment, just quiet, and then the call is ended. I have no intention to call back, as I thought it could be one of these very expensive calls, they want you to dial. I had that once, but realised it was a bogus so hang up.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been getting these god damn annoying calls for about 2 to 3 weeks now. i've missed loads. however, when i do answer the phone line just goes dead. when you ring the number back its got the "virgin media" woman saying that VM tried ringing today and they'll try getting in touch soon. im going to try giving them a made up address (ie at the end of my road) where nobody live, not even a plot of land there and then see what they say. personally I think its a scam, seen as people keep saying they wont send any emails or literature out. Thinking about it a little more i'm gonna ask them to confirm my old NTL details and the package i used to be on etc etc etc, hopefully theyll stop ringing then!!!

Had this number call me twice in the past week. Once at 3:50pm and today at 1:15PM when I've been at work. I have no intention of answering it because I never answer numbers I don't know unless I'm either expecting someone to call me or they can just leave a messege if they're that desperate to get hold of me. My answer messege even states it. Haven't had any messege left, no intention of answering it but if they ring once more they're getting put on my barred list. I've never been and never will be a Virgin Media customer, I'm with Sky and O2 for all my entertainment/telecommunications utilities and all I've ever heard about VM is negative anyway.

I have received repeated calls on my mobile from this number. Initially, when I finally answered, no-one there,no message left either. Answered again last night, and got unclear message about some kind of discount, THEN they asked for my password for the Virgin account. NO WAY!! I gave them short shrift and hung up. I would say be on your guard with calls like these, and tell them NOTHING.

Got a call from this number today, I was very wary of it because I've been having a similar call from somebody claiming to be from Orange recently.  The man on the other end of the phone claimed to be calling from Virgin Media and wanted to make sure everything was fine with my service.  I told him that it was, and then he asked for my password or security details.  I said that I didn't want to give out any details as he called me and I couldn't be sure that it was Virgin Media he was calling from.  He said that he would need to take my details so he could be sure that it was me he was calling, but still I refused to give them to him.  We went through the same conversation about 5 times before eventually he decided it was pointless trying to get the information out of me.

As soon as I found the number I called Virgin Media customer services and spoke to a very helpful man who was able to bring up my details and told me that somebody from Virgin had indeed tried to call me, from customer relations or something.  He asked if everything was fine with my account and I told him that it was, but I was just worried because it was a cold caller wanting to know my details.

In conclusion, I'm not sure whether this call is legit or not.  If I get it again I still won't be giving out any details to them.  If it is Virgin Media then they're doing it all wrong, if someone has a problem with their service then that person will call them, not the other way around.

got a call today from this number but didn't pick up. From all these reports looks like simply all your Virgin customers details got sold probably somewhere on black market in India and someone is using that to contact Virgin Media customers to get access to accounts. If that's the truth then Virgin Media should be sued for leaking personal information of their customers which is against their terms and conditions, so practically they are breaking the contract with everyone who got such fake call, i smell a class act! :D

I have also been plagued with calls from this number for ages and we never answer calls unless we recognise the caller, so like most people we have an answerphone forever flashing with no message left. A previous poster here suggested mailing:

    https://help2.virginmedia.com/assets/customer_zone/complaintformCZ.html

which I thought was worth a go.  Within an hour of sending the online form to them I have had a positive sounding reply from VM Complaints Dept where they apologise and assure me they have removed my number fron their 'dialler'.  It can take 30-60 days to take effect though.  We shall see!

I can confirm that the above method works - email virgin media and threaten to cancel your services, they'll promptly remove you from their marketing list. It doesn't hurt to send along a list of call dates & times to drive home the message.

Thankful for a resolution but this should never have happened in the first place.
