- Jill ShepherdOk a ps to the above message. They've got hold of my mobile number now too!!! I definitely didn't give it to them cos I guard it jealously. What's going on and how do they get away with this amount of pestering?

EVERY DAY.............SOMETIMES UP TO 3 TIMES A DAY - RincewindI had been intending on coming back sooner to add a reply however something always came up causing me to forget.
It's now been a month since my last post & I've not had a single call from the number. Looks like the guy who promised to remove my number from the dialling list kept to his word. - amycalled today but left no message cant be thst important then and could cost me money ringing the number back.
- EllaConstantly rings! sometimes just minutes apart! i am a VM customer, and normally no big problems. I rang 10 and the chap confirmed it is a VM number (so i am appaled that some of you have been told, even on paper! that it is not their number!!!) they couldn't see a reason why it would have called me though?? i'm now on hold being transferred to customer services... oh they've answered, he's calling it now to see what it is...ok, he said it is definetly one of their numbers, he is not sure what for but said it is probably a special offer or something, he said he can put a note on my details saying i dont want to be called, but i shan't hold my breath. I do think he was bluffing to be honest, saying it is possibly a special offer is just the most 'Positive' way of saying "sorry madam, i've no idea, but please dont worry!" so i'll let him off, he was nice enough. If it keeps on i shall nag more!

- kthanks for this... I'm getting loads of calls from 08000135333 and yes... dead air. I just googled the number and this is all I need to know! Basically I embarked on cancelling my services a couple of weeks ago and am leaving them in 2 weeks for an ethical phone company and freeview (at some initial expense, so I have very much made my choice!), so this makes sense and fits with other people's experience.
I called them to find out if I could block the number (not saying I knew it was them) - you can't block numbers apparently but I was given the number of their nuisance call section, 08009533333. There I was advised to go to www.silentguard.co.uk where I could put in my number and this would reduce automated calls! Well, whatever, I'll have a new number in a couple of weeks anyway.
Shame as I've been a customer for years with no trouble (honestly! the odd day when the TV guide didn't show, that's about it) - now I feel a bit stalked.
You're dumped, Vermin Media, get over it...! - JennyThese people called us and tried to get us to go back to Virgin media. Which we told hem no way in hell ... I rather pay an a little bit more extra for better service ( but O2 is doing a much better deal anyways).
They put us on the package that they were selling despite we told them 'No'. We found out after a bill arrived a month later that they hooked us up to the service anyways. It too us hours on the phone over months to sort it out.
i don't think the sales team actually make proper notes on our files at VM, so the customer service team only see that we got re-connected.. and that's the stance that they took.
Anyways, I suggest not even picking up the phone to them as once you do, they might connecting you to a service you don't want and then all that stress trying to tell them that they were in the wrong!- Caller: Virgin Media
- Virgin Media - Waste Of SpaceI keep receiving calls from Virgin Media on the above number. I have contacted Virgin twice - though not on this number as it does not accept calls - to complain about this and inform them to stop as they are dialling my personal mobile phone during work hours. Despite my telling them less than 7 days ago I am cancelling my contract with them due to this nuisance calling, I already have two missed calls this week. Thankfully my contract expires next month!
Perhaps if they spent less money littering my doormat with junk direct mail it might be worth redirecting their budget at their customer care code.- Caller: Virgin Media
- leave me alone!I have had two phone calls in the space of five minutes from this number today. I'm glad that I checked online to see who it was, and frankly not surprised. The volume of mail and telephone calls that I receive from Virgin Media is bordering on ridiculous. Who the hell do Virgin Media have working in their marketing department!? It's obviously the type of stereotypical marketing scum that makes me ashamed to work in the profession.
I recommend that if you would like Virgin Media to shut the hell up then take the following steps:
1) Register with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) at www.tpsonline.org.uk. After 28 days of registration you should no longer receive any calls. If you do receive any sales calls then this is actually illegal and you should...
2) Complain to the TPS and make as much of an impact as you can. Spread the word about Virgin "bloody hell, just leave me alone" Media to your friends and family. Tell everyone you know about this number and make sure they save it in their phone book so they can avoid like the plague.
I've registered now, so fingers crossed. I'll keep you all posted.- Caller: Virgin Mobile
- Fed UpHappening to me now. When I get a human to speak to, I shall ask them to remove me from their dialing list (as Rincewind suggests). Will update you on the result.
If Virgin want to loose customers, this is a very good way to do it!- Caller: 08000135333
- BelfastI have called Virgin Media about this and they claim to have no knowledge of the number - I quoted some of the comments about it, especially those showing evidence that it was a Virgin (and previously NTL) autodialer. Then I filled in the form at Offcom - the industry regulator - see http://www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/landline/nuisance/silent/?itemid=284912 . I recommend you do the same if you have this problem. Offcom make it clear that this kind of call is a violation of UK telecom rules.

- BenI am surprised this has been allowed to happen to so many people including myself today. If someone uses this number so persistantly and does not seem to be answerable to anyone you have to ask yourself what the hell is going on ?
These people should be made nice and comfy in a jail cell for so much abuse surely its against the law for anyone to do this and yes it should be if it isnt and im sincerely incredulous that the police or ofcom ( of thats right ) have not been approached about them.
Shall we take it in turns to ring them so much they cant dial out ?
They only left this number on my phone so im lucky.
what utter prats they are! - BenI have just a leaf out of "Belfast's" book above and used the link kindly provided to complain to ofcom, i was plesantly surprised the form took literally one minute to fill and i mentioned how prolific they have been but that wont count so if you want to stop them please complain about them because this time it was us and next time it could be your elderly parent or someone vunerable. Thank-you Belfast good idea.
- AndyIt appears that this activity is not isolated to land lines as I have been getting calls to my mobile for over two weeks. Has anyone else had this experience?
- Virgin MediaVirgin Media apologize for this inconvience.
Cause:
- Virgin Media have done this so that you will sign up to their mobile service
Resolotion:
- Discontinue to answer these calls and go contact customer care- Caller: Virgin Media
- Ring Ring!!!!This has been happening to both mine, and my mums mobile. We are Virgin Media customer for our land line but not our mobiles. I called the number back and a recorded message said; you had a call from the Virgin Media team, sorry we missed you, we'll try you again in a few days!
I phoned VM customer care and the guy didn't really know why this was happening, but suggested that it could be a fault in the automated system that is used by the sales department. Virgin Media has both the mobile numbers for an 'alternative number' to call if there's a fault/prob with the land line.
I was told to contact the nuisance call line on Monday, 08009533333, so I will see what happens then, although I don't hold out much hope!!!
I'm getting really annoyed with it all and will be taking it further if I don't get any answers, and action, on Monday.
This should not be happening and something needs to be done!- Caller: Virgin Media
- JohnVirgin just lost another 'customer' - frankly I find many of their representatives arrogant and out-of-touch with their purpose.
- SteveThis is really f*cking annoying. I've got to get this number blocked before it drives me insane!
- ChrisJust had a call from the above number & a man clled me by my name and then wanted me to confirm my postcode and 'other' information for 'data protection' reasons.....I told him that i would not give him any information as he had called me and for 'data protection' reasons i would not give him any information.
Sounded suspect as he just said 'ok, thanks, bye'.
After doing what everyone else seems to have done here, i googled the number and have found that this number is causing problems for other people.....I have experienced missed calls over the last few months from this number also.
I am a Virgin customer, but if it is genuine, it is a very poor practice and Virgin should be accountable for avoiding suspicious type calls.
I will duly contact Virgin in relation to this contact.....- Caller: Virgin
- Heather McKnightPersistant calls - no answer when I pick up the phone - whan I called back I just got a message 'Virgin Media called you today but didn't manage to get a hold of you - we will try to call you in the next few days'
