    made a complaint about poor service and slow running on "the mother of all Broadbands" (joke? I think so)and lo and behold within 1/2 hour two silent calls from this number. Would they be trying to frighten me off.

    I've had the number  - 08000135333 call me for the last few days, I don't tend to answer 08000 numbers but I did because it seemed like they where trying to get hold of me for something or other but when I answered the call, it was just silent.

    it called me and all i heard was classical music but no-one answered. at first i thought it was someone pranking me but the no. was not witheld and i didn't recognise the no.

    This number rings every night weekdays at 20.50 , and leaves a silent nothing on the answerphone,, on the occasions thay catch me,some moronic idiot claims to want to offer a better virgin deal, and I am ex directory, registered with the MPs and TPS, all of which is a complete wastre of time --- after a long and stressful day working,,this is nothing short of harrassmen and abuse.

    I can confirm this is indeed virgin. I made sure are to give them no information and probed them to find out what they want. All they wanted was to go over my 1st bill as it can be complex to understand!! I just advised there was no need for that as i have been through the 1st bill process 2 times before. He was happy with that and ended the call.

    I just had a call from this number on my mobile. It was a Gentleman from Virgin trying to sign me up to a Digital tv box. He knew i had Telephone and Broadband services with Virgin.  I said no i am happy with my Sky digibox and then he went on trying to tell me i get all the same channels etc wanting to know what i pay sky a month etc and Virgin is a better deal etc etc. In the end he gave up and hung up on me..

    keep getting these calls but when I answer there is nobody there, I just leave the call on so it costs them money, tough.

    I spoke to them - they offered me a deal which works out £3 cheaper per month than what I am currently on and with one more features!

    Just to try and put some perspective on the so called silent calls, I have worked for an internet support line before (incoming calls only) but I have learnt that alot of companies have a system where they cue up outgoing calls for members of staff, so for example the system Rings 5 numbers and connects the first person that answers the call to the first available Sales advisor, I am not sure if it keeps the other calls live to try and patch through to the next available advisor or not? I know it is not of any help to most but is is not the advisor keeping quiet more so the phone system not having anyone to connect the call to.

    I rang back tonight after our ansafobe took the call at 8.10pm and a very pleasant young female automatic voice told me they are Virgin Media and would ring back another day. Probably trying to sell that very very expensive high speed broadband which we will not buy into under any circumstances. Perhaps they should realise we are living with a Credit Crunch for the next two years.

    you seem to be saying that it is actual people at the other end of this line, but i think anyone with an ounce of common sense can see that this is a dailer. If u dont like the number calling you all the time, then phone and complain, and get a grip!

    Like the majority of people here I too am recieving these phonecalls, and they are beginning to drive me insane!
    I phoned Virgin Media's customers services who deny knowing anything about these calls and suggested I call their nuisance phonecalls department. For anyone interested the number is 08009533333, perhaps if everyone complains who is recieving these phonecalls they will actually have to stop them due to the sheer volume of complaints being made... fingers crossed anyway, and well worth a shot !

    Virgin Media phoned me and it was the same guy what I started services with, 6 months ago. He check if you are happy with Virgin Media and if yes, he can claim bonus or something like that. This is the reason, they call you for several times.

    Was called twice in succession - I didn't answer either call.

    I've never been a Virgin Media customer, and being ex-directory I guess someone has either sold my telephone number or they're using a random dialer.
