Report a phone call from 08000285085 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- MikeG| 1 replyI think this is a scam, like 99% of those posting on here. I've had numerous calls from people claiming to be from BT over the years and they've all been false. I certainly wouldn't give out any details. What gives it away is the poor quality of the call, which sounds as if it's coming from India via a very poor link.
If it was really BT do you think they'd allow it to be used by Vodafone or any of the other names reported by others on here?
Think Not. - philmessage says my bill is ready to pay from bt . but have not been with bt since february
- Caller: bt
- Call type: Event reminder
- Dutch HollandSomeone keeps calling from this number then hanging up after 2 rings, so I never get to answer it anyway, who is this who keeps phoning me then hanging up
- Caller: ?
- Mr MHad a call from this number - an indian call centre but it is genuinely BT
- Caller: British Telecom
- Mr T replies to MikeGHi, its not a scam and genuinely BT although some call centre in Mumbai or Dheli. Would advise contacting BT yourself if you dont feel safe speaking to them.
- kjThey left a message, with a strong Indian accent, on my answerphone claiming to be BT: "call 0800111" I tried that and of course it is not recognised.
- Caller: BT?
- TamThe number you quote 08001111 is Childline's number. If you are telling the truth that it was not recognised you need to tell BT.
There are quite a few unbelievable posts in this thread. - MikeGUPDATE: It's now been confirmed that scammers use this number and fake it to come up on your caller display (even though the number belongs to BT) so the best thing is to hang up and block it if you have a call blocker, and ring BT at the numbers on their website and ask if they want to speak to you. Do not give any information to anyone ringing from that number to be on the safe side.
- abhayajust received as well 5 min ago an they hung up as I pickep up the call
- Caller: Syntiga
- anonReceived 3 calls one after another from this number. Ignored them all as I don't answer numbers I don't know. I then got a text message from a friend who works at BT who told me to answer my phone. They were trying to call me but couldn't use their mobile! This was definitely BT! ignore if you like but not a scam number.
- Caller: BT
- -BT Support Technician calling if you have registered a problem with them
- Caller: BT
- LightningBT chasing for overdue payments .... when you answer and they do not speak ... they are just confirming you are there to answer phone .... then they will cut you in very near future if you do not pay ..... they do send previous messages ( presuming you have an answering system ) ... and they start "are the the user of phone number XXXXXX "
- Caller: BT
- Call type: Debt collector
- scdhthis is 100% bt customer services chasing up a fault on our line
- Caller: br
- Call type: Event reminder
- brian replies to Louisei also have had 3 calls from that number suggesting that i had to amend my direct debits, i called customer services BT they said my direct debits fine, when i suggested customer services wring the number, they rejected that and said they couldn`t
- sandigot a call this afternoon knew my name then hung up very suspicious
- linI don't think it's bt .....it apears to be a company who 'monitor' telecoms. He started by asking for me by name (which i didn't confirm) he then read out my address and when i questioned him like where he was calling from (he stated somewhere in the uk) so i said no what company was he calling from. That's when he hung up! Now if that was bt why would they cut the call?? I reckon their just trying to get people credit card etails &/or getting people to switch. To be avoided i think as bt knew nothing about it!
- Caller: ??
- Pollyanna76| 1 replyI got a call from this number today. When answering this type of unknown call, I say "Calls to this number are being recorded for security purposes" and they put the phone down.
- mattGenuine BT. Missed this call as i was asleep, rang landline and mobile (8am) but have received a follow up email from BT regarding some sainsburys vouchers i enquired about where the guy mentions he tried phoning me at 8.05am. So in his case they were ringing as they owed me £125. Not always a bad call!
- Caller: BT - digital care advisor
- SamGenuine call from BT. Contacted to discuss some orders/account changes we had requested.
- Caller: BT
- Smarter than the average bearVoice message with someone pretending to be from BT talking about replying to a text from them that I did not receive. Obviously phishing or scam of some sort as BT do not have the phone number for me that was used to contact me!!! It's a bit depressing that so many people are taken in by this sort of thing. Take control, ask them questions that only you and the company would know and tell them nothing if you are not 100% satisfied with their answers.
- Caller: NOT BT but claimed to be
