This Number called me at 11.08am this morning.  I was unable to answer as i'm at work but I was also away from my desk, reading the messages regarding this number i'm glad i missed it.  They also never left a  message, hoping they won't ring again.

Got a call from this number today around 2pm but they hung up when the answering machine kicked in. I do bank with HSBC but these callers can listen to my pre-recorded message as I don't even bother picking up the landline phone unless a) someone actually speaks and b)it's someon I want to talk to.

I was called from 08000304909 today. A man told me he call from HSBC and asked  my personal detailes. I did not tell because there is no purpose to check my detailes because HSBC already have all my detailes.

to anyone who has this, and any further problems with cold callers please read the following and act accordingly together we can stop this.

Next time they phone - call BT straight after and ask who the number is registered to as they are harrasing you.

They are also abusing the Data Protection Act by not telling you who they are.

Once you have the information as to who they are, write telling them that you will only correspond with them in writing (once you have done this, for them to phone again would be a breach of the Wireless Telegraphy Act).
I have experienced similar things myself to a private line and BT changed the number. Obviously this is more of a problem if its your widely advertised business number.

Harassment is classed as a course of conduct that is unwanted by the receiver and amounts to harassment or that the person causing the harassment should have known would amount to harassment.

In simple terms, if someone is doing something to you that you don't want then this could be deemed as harassment.

The Police can trace phone numbers but the problem here is knowing who is using the phone that's making the calls. You can trace the number but its difficult to prove who was the person pressing the buttons.

I would suggest speaking to the police to see if there's anything you can do. Also speak to BT to see if you can get a call monitor that registers the numbers that call you.

The link has details of the protection from harassment act.

    http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts1997/pdf

copy and paste this link, might sem overkill but the law is the law they know they are breaking it, NO means NO so any more than 2 calls......well you be the judges.
if any HSBC reading this think this is unfair don't call us we'll write to you.....
    hope this helps.

Claimed to be from HSBC, offered a new service but insisted on personal info but said would offer the first line of personal info if I gave the second half. The man gave an Indian sounding name. I obviously refused.

I was called at 17:38 today (27th July) on my mobile by 08000304909. The man on the other end sounded very professional. He claimed he was calling from HSBC and asked if now was a convenient time to talk as he just wanted to confirm a few details with me. He said he would give me the first half of some of my details and then would I please confirm the second half. I confirmed my post code and he then asked for my birth date. I asked if he could confirm who he was first and he just said that was why he was giving the first half of the details. I asked what the call was regarding but he said it was just routine and nothing to worry about. I said I'd rather not give any more details over the phone. He said not to worry, it could be done by post instead if I prefer so I hung up.

Minutes later my husband received a missed call but it didn't record the number so we don't know if it was from the same person.

The more I think about it the more suspicious it seems.

They have called 6 times over the last 2 weeks...even though I have already told them that I will not reveal my details over the phone...leave me alone!!

1st phone call = he asked if it was a good time to speak to me, and I told them it wasn't.

2nd call = they left a voicemail message - of nothing but silence!

    3rd call = I missed that call

4th call = the same person phoned, I hung up

5th call (yesterday) = I told them that I was not going to give any details over the phone - GO AWAY!

6th call (today) = I missed that call

    Persistant pains in the backside!!

I answered the call today, asked to provide the second half of my postcode before he would tell me what the call was regarding. I was suspicious and said I wasnt happy giving out personal information. He was quite persistant at first but eventually just said goodbye. Looking at previous comments its just a sales call which is a bit annoying but at least its nothing dodgy.

Got a call from this number today...while I was stood in the que IN my local HSBC branch!!!

They said "hello this is HSBC calling to discuss your account" I said I'm standing in the bank now! She said "is it ok to talk?" I said, yeah I'm only standing in the que for the machine. Why don't you just come downstairs and talk to me? She then said "I just need to discuss your account, can you confirm for me your DOB and 1st line of your address? I said what? Well can you tell me who my account holding brach is? She then repeated the question so I hung up.

Thinking about it i should have walked across the room and handed my phone to customer services, but i didn't want to lose my place in the que and I had to rush back to my work.

Received a missed call from 08000304909 10 minutes ago, followed by another ' number withheld call' a couple of minutes later.  Obviously same problem as everybody else, but I haven't called back to check.  Tempted to calling myself Mickey Mouse of No 1 High Street, Disneyland, California.

yes Ive had calls both on my mobile number and also on my home phone land line.  They usually (ive had this call about 4 times now) never leave a message on voicemail, except on one occasion when the caller said "hello...helloooo" -hardly the action of a professional call centre is it?  They never leave a message saying its HSBC on either phone so until now Ive never known whether it was someone calling from the bank or not.

Was called from this number on 6th August but I missed it as it only rang a few times. Would not have answered anyway as I know they would try to sell me something. Judging by other comments made it would be the HSBC Plus account which I was conned in to several years ago, a complete ripoff with 'extras' which you will never use, avoid at all costs. It makes me mad as they know I am only on a small wage, but want to take £12 a month from me for this rubbish account. Have put it into my screened numbers on my mobile which is a very handy tool, under settings.

I had a missed call from this number about 2 hours ago. I didn't recognise it, so I came on here to see who it was.

If it is the HSBC, then why are they calling me? I don't have an account with the HSBC and I haven't enquired for anything like insurance etc.

They didn't leave a message on the answerphone either, so it's even more frustrating!!

It's HSBC, they get your phone number from your internet banking details, so whatever you have in there as your prefered method of contact that's what they use. i've only ever been rung with reguards to account application's i have made to them. also i work in a call centre (inbound, luckily) so i know what it's like, try to be nice ppl!!!
