- shaukat ali khancould you please confirm for me who is this?
- Caller: barclays bank ltd
- Call type: Survey
- Carolreceived a number of calls from the 08000852652 number. I have no idea who they are as I leave the answer machine on to avoid nuisance calls. Expecting them to leave a message but never do.
Why do we, the individuals have to complain or pay to have these type of calls stopped. THEY should be illegal and classed as harassment unless they have our agreement via post first.
Time we consumers fought for our right. (To Avoid Having to Fight) to these uninvited and unwelcome crap/sales where some people are gullible and end up being caused unforseen misery.- Caller: Unknown
- FredGot a call today ay 1320 3rd March 2010...as I never answer 0800xxxxxx numbers I let it ring out...so whikst I dont know who may have called beware that number is up to its tricks again!!!!

- Ciara DerraneThis number called me yesterday between 6-7pm and again this evening at 7:18pm.
I did not pick up as I did not recognise the number. - ak 47| 1 replyi actually work for barclays call centre in the uk who do outbound call and yes we do ask for d.o.b and last 2 of ur mums maiden name as part of protocol to identify customers.the reason it hangs up is its an automated dialler and if you dont pick up after so many rings it calls off so thats why you get no answer its not that were rude!!!!!!
- Dave RoltNo idea who this is - but keeps on phoning in the evening
- yankee doodleReceived call from this number last night. Person ringing asked me to "confirm" my mother's maiden name before the conversation could proceed. That is when I hung up. Why should Barclay's ask for that information during a sales call? It seemed suspicious
- Caller: Barclays (?)
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Fred7 th call over last 4 days...I answered it this time and they asked to confirm my name. I asked who was calling and they said Barclays. I said how do I know its Barclays and they said they would confirm once I had confirmed my name, so I said I will not answer to cold calling and hung up. Advise you all to do the same.r
- Margaret Flatt| 1 replyI was called by a person yesterday on the above number asking for my Barclays Bank details.
- Caller: Barclays Bank?
- fred up replies to Margaret FlattBarclays Bank Credit Advicer
Got call to night 18.36
I did not answer, been calling since last year.
When I did answer and told then not to call me anymore and not to sell, give or pass on my details to anyone and any data that you have should be deleted.
Just called me yet again.
I answered this time and a woman said that she was calling for Barclays Bank Credit Advicer and would like to up-date my account details.
I donot give information on the phone and not to call me again and stop calling.
Yet again I will call in at Barclays and tell them to pass it on.
What do I have to do to stop this COLD calling?. - Irritated16 03.10
Called at lunch time today - did not pick-up. Also there was a call around 3 AM which went to answer phone - no message given just 'grey' noise. Could this be from the same source as previous writers have received at this time of the night?- Caller: ?
- v_bored_by_it replies to ak 47Then take back to the call centre this advice. Put that 08000852652 number on the Barclays website where people can see it (and find it when they search the web for it). There is a big list of phone numbers at <http://www.bank.barclays.co.uk/ContactUs/Callus/P1242557966951> but 08000852652 is not listed there. Is Barclays embarrassed by it?
Barclays' website offers this advice:
Phishing for information
----------------------------------
Fraudsters use many techniques to obtain customers' passwords and security credentials. One method is to call their intended victim pretending to the bank or a police official and ask them to reveal their bank account details, card details, 3-digit security number, PIN numbers and any Online or Telephone Banking passcodes.
Unfortunately some people do fall for this and then find that a fraudster has stolen their money
The golden rule is to never give out any banking passcodes/PIN numbers or card details to anyone who phones you.
Please note that if we do phone you, we will never ask for this information.
If you receive a call where the caller states that they are a member of bank staff always ask for their full name and department and if you have any doubts, terminate the call and contact us immediately.

No wonder people are reluctant to believe it is Barclays cold calling them and asking for security information. - Chris replies to Yes, I am one of them...If you are 'One of them' then please tell me why I keep receiving calls from you for a person I have never heard of, despite my telling you this and that this person does not live here or have anything to do with my number, when will you get the bloody message and stop calling! I do not even have a Barclays account and after this would never want one. My hubby is disabled and these calls often wake either him or me (I often have to grab a nap during the day due to having to wake in the night to care for him).
- KI have had several missed calls from this number in the last couple of weeks. `i finally answered it this evening. `They claimed to be `barclays bank saying there have been some important changes to my account this week` and asked for my DOB to confirm who `i was. I did not give it - why should I confirm who I was when they should be confirming who they were calling me! I informed them `i had been in branch today and not been made aware of any problems. I told them to write to me if they had a problem as I was not willing to give out personal details over the phone. I think its a scam as otherwise my branch manager would have mentioned a problem in our meeting today. `if its not, there is still no way i would give out my details, Barclays are usually so fussy about security with the annoying pinsentry system and passwords etc so I am certain this is not really them.
- carolGot a call from this number today, it was a woman with a Liverpool accent saying she was calling from Barclays to do a review of my accounts. She asked for my date of birth but I said I wasn't interested and hung up. From reading other posts on here it does sound legit. but I just hate this cold calling when I'm in the middle of cooking the dinner! If I want my account reviewed I'll make an appointment and go into my branch!
- Caller: Barclays
- IanGot a call from this number today and yesterday they said they were from Barclays, I told them I don't do busuness on the phone send me a letter then I hung up.
- ChristyThe call from this number said they were from Barclays bank and asked for debit and credit details.
When I checked with our bank after the call they had no record of it and were very concerned that we might have given out personal details - BUT WE HADN'T.
Be warned please! - LeeA woman asked for my name in full. I replied Hello who is calling please. They replied with my name in full anyway and asked if this was me. I said yes who is this. They then asked me the same question again, I to replied the same way. They then hung up. Called again 10 mins later but only 3 beeps.
