some says it's Barclays, others claim not. according to the Barclays website http://www.barclays.co.uk/telephone-number-checker it most certainly is. however, numbers can be disguised, easily some say, so your caller display cannot always be trusted, if in doubt, hang up but call number yourself, preferably on a DIFFERENT phone to that on which you received the call. (or wait AT LEAST 5 MINUTES before using the same phone.) it's disappointing that even Barclays staff are reported to have said "Yes it is genuine" AND "No it's fraud." Ain't it a wonderful world.

Said they were from Barclays and wanted the last two letters of mothers maiden name I gave them nothing so be careful do not give any information at all they then hung up called on my mobile phone.

just received a call now from this number answered it asking general questions about my account. stating what my balance is etc based in Sunderland, North East England. Or is it an indian call centre with a voice alteration device?

keep getting calls from this number, but once i pick the phone up there is no contact and the phone is put down again

Had a missed call from this number yesterday. No message left. Looked up number and found this site. Now im seriously worried someone is trying to commit fraud against me.
Sort this mess out barclays or im moving bank! If it is barclays cold calling then get this message

I've named thsi caller "DO NOT ANSWER!!" I can't remember why though but it just called me and I didn't answer

block the number, rang the police, tell the trading standard, this is scum call

Really? Then why do they call me? I'm not and have never been a 'Barclays Additions' or any Barclays account holder?

I don't get all the people on here saying it's a genuine Barclays call to sell customers Barclays products. I'm not a Barclays customer yet receive calls from this number all the time. I'm also led to believe Barclays don't cold call non-customers so are you 100% sure?

They rang me on Friday, then again today. In both occasion the phone rang only for 5 seconds, then they hang up before you can get to answer, making one curious. One can see the last caller's number and the temptation is to ring back, because it's only an 0800 number which is free to dial.  - DON'T - There must be a reason for this mental game, it doesn't make any sense: I explain: if they are leaving on your screen a freephone number to call them back (they are paying for the call) why then hang up when they are calling in the first place? Is it that they want to build up your curiosity and push you to make that call?
My suggestion is: DON'T call them back, let them die waiting for you to fall in the trap. Who knows what they are really after.
Also: is this 5-sec ring not a banned technique? It is harassing behaviour.

I've checked this number on Barclays phone number checker and it says:

08000852652 it was BARCLAYS nothing to worry about

I answered the call and remained silent and it was Barclays after when i returned the call.

Missed a call from this number too but figured it couldn’t have been overly important as whoever it was didn’t bother to leave a message. Been getting calls from all over the world of late which i believe to be scammers and have had to ask my mobile provider to block calls from abroad in case I accidentally answer and get charged a small fortune

Someone call me from above no and mention that  they are calling from Barclay bank.i m not sure wheather it was true or false caller.pls let me know thank you
