Ha ha!! They've called a few times and as I can see numbers and never answer those I don't know I didn't pick up. This time the guy left a message, saying "you must be having a really really long day", in a sarcastic tone of voice, I could hear call centre noises behind. What an idiot! I work from home but after 5.30 it is HOME, not WORK!! "Get a life" is what I say to them :) , or would say if I could be bothered to answer!!

Actually, if it is Barclays (as it appears to be from what is said in the other comments) they have made up my mind for me and my partner... Been thinking about it for a while and we'll definitely be transferring all our money to another bank this weekend, and will close the accounts. What a bunch of bloodsucking irritating people!

Got call from person purporting to be from Barclays bank.  Wanted to check my security details and check that my detail are up to date.
I responded by saying I didn't want to speak about stuff like that on the phone.
caller Got ratty with me, could not understand why not.
I asked them not to call me again.
I was told to that is was not up to them and should call at local branch and tell them.
Funny I have tried that last year and again this year and all I got was it's not up to them!
so what can you do?.

exactly the same thing happened to me today. i was suspicious from the start and became alarmed when they gave me the last 6 digits of my card number. i reported it immediately, but my bank didn't seem very concerned.

Got a call from this number today.

I confirmed my name before I got suspicious when he asked for my DoB. I refused to give my date of birth to an unsolicited number and asked him for a call-back number to confirm the identity of the caller. He said there was none, as he was "just calling from a call centre in the North East".

He offered the following pieces of information to "reassure" me:

1. The last 4 digits of my Connect card.
2. Any two digits from my sort code.

I replied that anyone could have obtained this information from a single transaction whose details had been stolen. I then asked him to hold while I googled the number - which is where I found this website, but nothing about that number from any official Barclays site. I then told him I was terminating the call.

I suspect it probably is some incompetent direct marketing agency contracted by Barclays, but it LOOKS like a scam, and the practice seems to contradict Barclays' own advice - and clearly has done for more than three years without change - that I won't give them the time of day.

Just been called by this number, lady on the end of the phone claiming to be from Barclays business banking customer services, wanting to try to save people money on their business banking, she knew my name but didn't know that i am a barclays business customer already, and also on free banking!!  Very polite but still a bit fishy

Just got a call from this number, confirmed my name (which is an unusual one, and he had that right) then wanted to confirm details DOB etc.  I refused to give this, told him Barclays could write to me with whatever they wanted to say and that was all I wanted to say - I had to repeat that bit 3 times then I hung up!

I hate those sort of calls!!!

Asked for me by name, got ratty when asked who he was, finally said Barclays and he 'had important info. to give me', but not until I confirmed who I was, but I was not prepared to confirm until he told me the info. We played this verbal ping-pong for a while (their call, not mine), in the end I hung up. Have had several calls like this in the past. Branch staff not concerned.

Rang Barclays who confirmed it (08000852652) is their sales department. Asked to get taken off the database & they said the best they could was put a note on my account. Started to give them the details which they then refused to process because the 08000 caller had put a 24 bar on my phonebanking because I told her to get f*cked when she asked me for details...

Ignore this at all costs!!!!! It's a scam. Trying to get you to give your details over the phone so they can basically empty your bank account. I've had a few calls from this number, claim to be from Barclays....Funny that, I don't have an account with Barclays.

Best thing I have found is to turn it back onto them, I will only confirm my name, DoB etc once they have confirmed theirs to me!
"But you don't have that infomation to confirm it against!"
"How do you know I don't?"
"Because I phoned you"
"Then you should already have my infomation!"

called me unsolicited today, saying from  Barclays " annual check" & asked for DoB. I did not believe him although I do have Barclays account. Reported to Barclays, did not seem too interested, only wanted to sell me a savings account for my trouble !!

this number been ringing me all afternoon,i finally ans the phone,but they just put phone down...
i am not a barclays customer,and i have never been a customer of thiers,
obviously this is some kind of scam(for those that do get some sort of reply).

Had a call from this no. I called back got charge £2.62 for 58 sec call!!!

This number keeps calling us; latest call at just before 7pm today. Our answerphone message says we don't answer sales calls of any kind but they're not taking the hint! They're really p'ing me off now! Am going to report them for persistent nuisance and silent calls. Don't care who they are or claim to be.

They called me today with the usual spiel.  When I refused to give my DOB and suggested they send me by post details of any service they wish to draw to my attention, I was told "we don't have the facility to send stuff by post".  A major bank unable to pop a leaflet in the post?  Do me a favour

Call from a man pretending to be from Barclays, asking for my account details. I refused and hung up. No responsible, security concious bank will cold call and asking for your account details, DOB etc. So it can only be a phishing attempt.

If you receive a call from this number refuse to give them the information they request, hang up and report it to Barclay's fraud department.

Called and ask for DOB to varify who I was and wanted to talk about my account claimed they had last 6 digits of card, asked for Mothers maiden name. Then said they wernt actually from Barclays but worked on their behalf

Got these people on phone tonight said I didn't discuss these matters on the phone and if Barclays wanted to talk to me they put it in writing. Caller, very tenacious and nasty but finally tripped themselves up by- whilst insisting they had my info in front of them - proceeded to call me by the wrong name. Have called Barclays and they "don't think" these people are acting on their behalf, well if they can't tell me one way or another I "don't think" I'll continue using them
