i got from this no i am sure its fake call,she was trying to find out my details like DOB adder mother ma dine name...

Googled this number after a call from barclays asking me to confirm by date of birth, they then said they could not acess my details and rang off. Seemed a bit odd.

This really is Barclays.

Trying to sell you various products and services, from home insurance to car insurance, savings accounts to investment plans.

I had the displeasure of working for Barclays Outbound for almost 2 years.

This is not a fraudulent call - employees are criminal record checked, credit checked, etc., and are highly trained with regards to banking rules and regulations, data protection (hence the 2 security details), etc.

It is, however, a sales call.

Please politely ask for your details to be removed from the dialling system if you do not wish to receive any further calls  (agents do not *choose* to call you personally, customer data is thrust upon them).

Regardless if it there choice or not who to call, Your ex ppl upset lots of us fine British citizens when we want to be left alone at time during the evening. As For you comments that they are highly trained ppl I would contend this in the highest terms and stress that they generally offcuts of the employment market implanted into these jobs and most couldn't give a fig about us and they handle our private data.

Had a call from this number at 10 to 4 this afternoon. Asked if they could speak to Mr Mark Fairbrace.

I am sick and tired of these people calling and either hanging up before I can get to the phone or when I answer.  My husband is disabled and my Mum is seriously ill so they are exceptionally annoying calls

A sales call...? At 7:30 pm! Not sure what these people want to sell me at this hour...
If they would be calling reg. something important (your account or anything else), the institution calling
would leave a message with a name and number to call back. Obviously this is not the case.

Had call from this number, didnt reply to my hello, dialled 1471 and called them bk, said it was barclays wanting to talk to me about further developments on my account! def dodgy, I dont even have a barclays account!!!!!

Me too. Sick of em. I would give them a mouthful if they would stay on the phone long enough for me to do so. They always hang up when I pick up the phone.

The following number keeps phoneing me but want leave a massage on my answer phone so I want ring back as I dont know who I am speaking to!

I simply do not answer the house phone any more.  These days, well over 50% of calls are sales harassment from banks, insurance companies, charities or mobile phone merchants.   If anything is important or personal the caller will leave a message and then I call straight back.

I got a call this morning from someone scottish on my mobile who said he was from Barclays bank said that he wanted to ask a few questions and wanted me to tell him my date of birth I said why should I give you that he said I understand well I will ask you a few questions andd then you can give it to me I hung up on him

it is Barclays but They wont get the message that i DO NOT WNT TO SPEAK TO THEM !!!

as the rest of you. I got suspicious as soon as I they asked me for my date of birth. I rang Barclays headoffice and they confirmed it's their outsourced sales team.

Got this call from Braclays. Asked me to confirm details. "Can you send me a letter, please?"  no further conversation.

This number has called my mobile a few times which I ignored now my home number at 7.48pm.  Said it was Barclays about whether I was getting correct service from my account.  Asked to confirm name, 2 letters of mothers maiden name then DOB.  Stopped here & questioned who they were.  He asked me to get debit card & he would confirm details.  After saying I was happy with my bank & I'd rather deal with someone in person he told me to pop into branch to discuss and put a flag on my account not to call at home.  If he really was from Barclays why couldn't he do this???  Hmmmm very suspicious of giving details over the phone...

I received a call at 7:25pm on Wednesday 16/10/10. It was from a female calling from "Barclays". Said she wanted customer feedback from a previous meeting I did actually have.

I confirmed the meeting and gave my feedback of the gentleman I spoke with who was an excellent employee.

She then asked for my date of birth??? why?

She could provide me with my account details? again why?

If it was just customer feedback, and you know I'm a customer, why do you need my personal details?

Golden rule - "Never give out your personal details to an incoming call." How can you verify who they are!?

I shall be calling my bank in the moring and reporting this
