Call from barclays to'review my accounts' but started the call by asking for some 'personal details' to confirm who I was... said that I wasn't comfortable giving out this information as I couldn't be sure who he was, and he said he understood but that it really was nothing to worry about.  I decided to err on side of caution and not continue with the call... he was very pleasant, and probably all above board, but you do just never know...

I have had a call from A Davis saying he is from Barclays but asked him to call back. will call Barclays and check.......

i just had a call from the same number, the guy said he was from barclays. He wanted me to answer some security questions which i refused just in case he was a dodgy caller; he understood and was fine about it.

Having seen this thread which has been going on for a few years in regards the same number means it is a genuine call from barclays :)

These pests just rang off as I got off the loo to answer the call. I never have( & now no longer will) bank with Barclays. Must be time to re-register wth the TPS.

I had a call from this number supposedly to inform me about new offers from Barclays. I was dubious and refused to give any details. Next day I went to my local Barclays to check it out and was told this is their marketing number. I did suggest that they needed to improve the way in which they approached those they called.  So it it would appear to be genuine.

It doesn't matter that it is Barclays, the reason you give Barclays a contact number is to act as a point of contact, not for them to cold call you to offer services and such, i'd be highly critical of the small print next time i pass on details to any bank.

Our family has used Barclays for generations, it's stupid that after numerous years of good service they persist in calling, like many others there are repeated calls throughout the day, throughout the week, this could easily be classed as harassment..(and will be treated as such if the calls persist).

On the plus side, it's a bank they have lots of money, let's all sue Barclays for harassing phone calls.

I have had two calls from "Barclays' in the last 48 hours from this number.
The first one I told to get lost, and I did'nt believe him. The second one I went into a Branch and reported it, and the lady at the counter checked to say it was Barclays based in Sunderland, and it was a legitimate call. Unfortunately, I'm still sceptical and on my guard, as I had my identity stolen 3 years ago, and it took ages to sort out.

Also, we are constantly told not give give any financial/personal details to anybody over the telephone.
So, why has Barclays gone down this dangerous route to extract info?

I have just received a call from this number the 4th in as many days. We dont have any accounts with Barclays so i'm not sure how they have got my home number as I no longer register it and it is suppossed to ex directory.

I'm not exactly sure how they can verify any of my account details as I don't have any!!!

Yes received yet another call from 08000852652, one of many over the past 18 months. Everytime they 'cold' call and ask for personal info I refuse and the call ends.

I have complained to Barcays and I am waiting for confirmation as to which department this is and the reasin for the calls.

If I wanted any service from Barclays I would either go into my branch or apply online, I do not want cold calls and will not take any services from a cold call.

They just don't get it what a pain in the backside they are. Or do they?

I have received call from this number today, they told me that calling from Barclays bank and want feedback from me, ask me about DOB and i told them , but then ask me more detals my account and I told this man that I dont trust him , he told me that got my sort code and account number and he can confirm that calling from Bank.
I didn`t want to talk with him , he sad bye, and I go tomorrow to bank ask about this.

I got a phone call back from a customer service manager in response to my e-mail re this number. She confirmed that it IS a Barclays Marketing department. It seems that I never ticked the 'No Marketing calls' box when I opened my account. This has since been amended.

Keep getting missed calls from this number, I can't see it being from barcleys or a bank branch and they keep ringing me via my mobile which is a personal number and not my landline, very weird.

He called me by my name said was from Barclays, and want to check if my visit to Barclays was everything ok!
I said I haven't been to any Barclays for weeks, he said sorry it was my mistake.

Someone how got your bank letter and try to get some other information!!

To make sure is the bank ask them to tell you your information!!

To be honest I will stop to answer 0800.... and unknown number!

Got a call from this number, again a foreign sounding gentleman asking to speak to the manager.  When I asked what it was regarding our business account.  When I pressed him further he said he was from Barclays Bank.  I told him I was not aware our company had an account with Barclays and he said, 'Yes, I know, but we may be able to offer you a better deal'.  I said I would transfer him to the manager.  Of course the manager said 'Not interested' but when I went back to the caller he had hung up.  Strange for someone to do that if they are looking to 'do business'.  Very dodgy and I will be prepared next time.

I dont have a Barclarys account and this number just called me today, am a little suprised as both my mobile and home phone are on the TPS lists so they shouldnt be doing it.

When I answered the call, THEY asked ME for my mother's maiden name to verify who I was - surely the wrong way around! They said they were selling products for Barclays, which I declined.
