Our business line was called today, from someone asking for the business owner by first name and saying he was from Barclay's Business. We don't use Barclays for anything. He asked when would be a good time to call again.

guy said he was from barclays called jack stratfield and sounded very dodgy  trying to tell me about personal accident insurance sounded like he was in a pub, said not interested and he hung up

My wife received a call from this number claiming to be from Barclays.  Called Barclays on the phone number on my statement and verified this with Barclays - it's the number they use for outbound calls.  So it is a legitimate, if unwanted, call.

They called me today, 3rd time I finally answered...a lady was asking for mother's maiden name and date of birth ...and tried to upgrade me for a credit card and selling life and car insurance...
I told i'm going to leave the country so she wished all the best...

Thank God, nothing bad has happened...

I just got a call from the number 0800085265 and gave the details that they asked. knowing that i made a mistake i called the Barclays number located on the bottom of my monthly bank statement and told them what happened. Then the gentleman on the phone told me that that the number was from the sales department from Barclays. I believe this number is from Barclays however no matter what you do don't ever give personal detail over the phone! if you are still concerned the best thing to do is either call Barclays up directly using the contact numbers they provide or go to a Barclays branch and tell them what happened. hope this helps everyone who experiences the distress that i just went through.

This is not barclays this is a scam if you get a phone call from this number again report it to the police as harassment and the police will take up legal action on the fraud

I agree with Glyn 08000852652 is a scam caller and if it is barclays court springs to my mine and they could face £1000000

If you are a scammer you are not very good at it. If you are a genuine business you should know this sort of behaviour is harassment. I do not want to deal with any business that uses such tactics. Unsolicited calls are bad enough, lots of silent calls are infuriating.

Should there actually be a person on the other end next time you ring and I answer, you can be sure I will not be buying anything from you and I will make it absolutely clear exactly what I think of your telephone harassment. Stop bothering your customers.

Asked to speak to husband, said he wasn't available and who was calling - replied "this is Amir from Barclays and we need to discuss his account". I said it was joint so he said ok but you can't be too careful, then said he wanted to check various details about our account - I replied that I wouldn't discuss anything like that over the phone and hung up.

this number has called me on several occasions and hung up on answer, it's really annoying and disconcerting, how do I stop it happening ?

I have calls from this number recently but no voice mail and it cost too much to call back from mobiles. After reading this messages i do wonder if it is barclays as I have just up graded my account. Who knows.

I have also received a call from this number....i took the number down and rang through to Barclays customer service on 08457555555 this morning at 09.10 (note that only Barclays customers can use this number as they request details of your account to verify who you are)...the customers service guy checked the call log from yesterday and confirmed the call was from Barclays outbound and that they ring customers who have had an account for a long time to try to offer other Barclays services...before anyone comments that they do not bank with Barclays....to that i have no answer but if anyone is unsure ring through to the Barclays number above and ask them to check whether a call was made from them to you...by the way the number above is the number i always ring through to if i have problems of any sort with my account

Like all of you received a call today with no one answering,surely ofcom should intervene to stop this unwanted harassment?

Had a call at 5.57pm today. Said they were from Barclays, but it was a poor line. Quoted the last six digits of my card accurately but not digits 5 and 6 as was asked. It could be an out source centre, but still if I want to talk to anyone about my banking details, I'll go to the Bank. That's what they are there for.

They phoned me over the past few months at least three times a day, when I answered the phone nobody was there.Finally a couple of weeks ago someone was there when I answered, I went through all her sales spiel with her and thought they would leave me alone after that! No such luck.The calls started again four or fove times a day the very next day, all times of day and late into the evening.

A few days agao i emailed Barclays asking them to stop.They phoned me back and asked for my date of birth.I refused to give it.Tey said they wouldn't stop unless i gave them it.They have it for crying out loud!

they claim to be barclays when infact its an insurance company trying to sell products hoping you will take out these products coz its barclays???........i also bank with barclays just move into a new property with a new exdirectory number..........barclays must have sold the number to them very few people have our number but barclays do............you would think your number could be trusted with your bank........i called barclays 1st they siad they do give out your number from time time to reputable companys?.......when i then followed it up with a complaint to managment they deny'd all knowledge???????.....strangly the calls have stopped........

when they ask me D.O.B i ask them theres.......its usually greeted with a silence......address i ask for theres etc etc............

what a crook.a guy called me from this number,claiming he was calling from barclays bank,sunderland.didn t think it was dodgy at first as he sounded very professional.he asked me if i wanted to apply for a loan.i was at work when he first called so we arranged another day for him to call me back.he hung up straight away when i took his second call so i had a missed call.then,he rang me again,apologising for what happened,blah blah blah...we agreed to fix the deal on another day.he s now just called me today to inform me,with regrets,that barclays had refused to grant me the loan.i was gobsmacked and asked him what was going on,he then replied that he couldn t see why the bank had refused me the loan,said sorry and then was gone.i then called barclays.the operator asked me about personal details i had given to this dodgy guy.my "dodgy banker" only got my mother s maiden name and my date of birth.the barclays operator told me there was no danger but advised me to go and change some of my bank account password or secret code at my local branch,just in case...DON T TRUST 08000852652,it s a scam!

I would like to advise people to read a few messages back before posting anything.

This number IS Barclays. This is the number they use for outbound calls. Albeit that it is a sales line where they are promoting further services they offer, it IS BARCLAYS. If you do not wish to get the calls, pop into your local Barclays branch and tell them that you'd rather receive information about other services by email or post, simple.

If you are still worried, then call Barclays - existing customers 0844 811 9111, non customers 0845 766 0758 and explain that you received a call from them and wanted to know what it was concerning. That way, YOU have made the call, you KNOW that it is Barclays, and you can tell them information safe in the knowledge that it definitely is Barclays.
