You clearly work for these people as you fail to read everything that is written nor have you the capability to comprehend that which you have just read.
FYI ...just to fill in the bits you couldn't work out....my Wife's contact details with Barclays are up to date...and that includes her new mobile number...perhaps you should pay more for a up to date call list database, the one you have at this time is obviously woefully out of date..

I get calls from these jokers quite regularly..I am not nor have I ever been a customer of Barclays..but my wife is (and it's her old phone that I'm using...)
Now for the past 3 years she has had another phone and a new number ...so why the Sam Hill do these people ring the old handset number?

...Are they incapable of reading the contact details they have for my wife?

Which bit of this clearly states your wife came to branch to either delete the number or update her details so dont use big words you cant back up!!!! as for been out of date yes they probably are because as i stated you probably have not updated all nice you can say they are but if your wife does not tell us or has not deleted her number then we are still going to assume it is her number,

Had afew calls from this number which is strange considering i've only just had a new number. Even if it is barclays i wont talk to them, if i want to talk to them i will ring them on their proper number or go into my local branch.

I do beg your pardon...it doesn't...but what it does say is 'for the past 3 years'...I had assumed that anyone reading that would realise that on changing phones/moving home, one would automatically inform those who clearly needed to know these things...Your bank being one such...Forgive me for not realising you didn't have the capacity to realise the obvious. You are well suited to your career.

Just to spell it out for you...and anyone else who is in any doubt....My wife changed her phone number and informed her bank of the change..I am now using her old phone. I am NOT a customer of Barclays now nor have I ever been nor do I intend to become one.
It seems pretty darned obvious (to me at least) that the persons calling from this number are using an out of date phone number database. If these people were actually working for Barclays you would think they would have an up to date database...again at least I would.

Had a call this evening they stated my name and who I banked with which was all correct.  But I said that I would like to discuss my bank details over the phone at 7:35pm.  She then said could I just spare 5 mins on the phone.  I said no as I would rather go into my personl bank to discuss my acc.  Be careful

I had one today 9.11.11 @13.48 but fortunately rejected it. I looked back into my history of calls and realised that they have been calling regularly once a month usually in the afternoon since 16/5/2011
I have always had a policy of rejecting 0800 numbers.
IF THEY WERE GENUINE CALLERS THEY WOULD LEAVE A MESSAGE

Called me today saying its Barclays checking update of information. When pressed he got shirty in a scouse accent saying I must give details so that he could verify I was who I said he was. I have previously registered with Barclays and other Banks to say no cold calls at home. They also said it must be dodgy

I just had a call from this number, 9 in the morning, and its saturday...told me that its Barclays and asked me for my birthday, which makes me 25, after that i didnt even get the next question because again its saturday 9 in the morning, after that i got really annoyed that somebody would call so early after friday and told them that...they apologized and hang up.When after i got really fishy about this call...and I decided to google it and came up with this site. I will definitely go to bank later and ask about this.

After reading your numerous posts I am truly glad that I kicked Barclays into touch twenty years ago.   If you are a sample of their staff it was definitely the right move.

This is a Barclays outbound number. I answered and spoke with a chap about my bank accounts and verified this with Barclays after the call. Barclays confirmed it was a ligitimate call.

i got a call from someone from barclays who decided they had had enough of my free overdraft and offered me a loan so i would never need the overdraft facility again, once we went though the numbers im on a better deal currently. i think Barclays are just getting nervous as to peoples exposure. anyhow the chap calls me back once a month now to see if i have changed my mind. i now ignore.
