- bb worker 2you really dont get it do you? you think not taking the calls is a good thing - these are not random calls they are selected on your information that shows you will save money by taking the call - true its not applicable to everyone but show me a flawless system ......
- Caller: barclays
- Sam| 3 repliesI kept getting late evening calls from this number from someone calling from Barclays, wanting to review my account, asked for date of birth and last 2 digits of password. Then said they were incorrect and advised me to go to the bank. Not sure if this is genuine but seemed very dodgy to me.
- Caller: Barclays
- bb worker replies to Sam| 2 repliesit means your incapable of spelling your mothers maiden name
- brucey| 1 replyin all fairness i got a call asking for dob and last two letters of mothers maiden name - what damage could be done with that info?
- Caller: barclays

A lot - forum watcherTheres an idiot, well several using this forum like a chat page called Nice Call Centre Guy etc etc
report him and others of the same ilk to the site moderators
so we can get on and do what the who calls me site is set up for
there is a band of geeks lurkers
who want to create nusance/close down an open forum - BrynPhoned on this number by a woman with a Geordie accent. Claimed to be from Barclays. She asked me for my d-o-b etc.Did not provide- so she put the phone down on me. Phoned Barclays who advised me not to respond to any such phone calls and that they would never contact people in this manner. If it really is Barclays their own people would seem to be breaching their own guidelines. I doubt it is them. Be wary of this bunch. Do not provide them with anything. If they ask you to provide them with your security details - d-o-b ; mother's maiden name etc - then refuse. Just put the phone down , get their number via 1471 and then report the matter to Barclays at once.

- CHANTELLEIgnore this so called enquirey from "Barclays". It' a complete scam. It may be Barclays but that doesn't mean it's the familiar high street bank. They would NEVER cold call you. They call me regularly and I don't have an account with them. They work as proxy for Newells debt collection in Leeds. The same firm exposed by the BBC consumer rights programme Watchdog.
- Caller: lowells
- Call type: Debt collector
- Lorne replies to bb worker| 1 replyIt means he did not give the scammer the information he wanted. BB worker? You sound like a scammer to me - trying to ridicule the serious and proper concerns of members of the public. Your comments have made me even more worried.
- bb worker replies to Lorneyou wanna pray we dont ring you anytime soon then
- Robert TW10My wife received a call yesterday from Barclays asking for me. Not knowing what I know now, see told them to phone back today which they did. Again the similar question to the others, to verify who you are, please state your date of birth? To which point I replied, Natalie I don't know who you are and I don't give that info on the phone. She replied "Not to worry" and hung up.
- Caller: Barclays
- bb| 1 replywhat people dont seem to understand is u give your d.o.b on a regular basis whether it be facebook or ordering gifts off the internet or first signing up to something you always use your d.o.b Plus its on the electoral role been a uk resident. and as for the last two of the mothers maiden surname mine is ON go ahead do your worst with that information
- Caller: barclays
- CherryThis number has been calling 3-4 times a day for the last two weeks. My OH answered it today, and they asked to speek to me, he asked was it was about, and they said the Barclays account. Which is odd, as it's a joint account, and he's the main account holder not me.
I spoke to the bloke who said he wanted to ask me a few security questions before he could discuss anything. And I said I'm not answering any questions over the phone from someone who has just rung me, and that if I needed any thing sorting I'd go to the bank. He said this couldn't be sorted at the bank and I'd miss all the current deals. I then said, if there's a problem with the account, please write to us. He said he couldn't as people don't like being written to with things they might not need.
I then asked them to stop calling, he said they'd keep calling until I'd gone through the security questions with them. I asked at least 7 times for them to not call again, rather angery by this point, I handed the phone to my husband who also told them not to call again.
I really don't believe they are Barlcays, and if they are this is an awful way to treat your customers.- Caller: Barclays
- Eniko MajorI have got a call from the number 08000852652 from barclays he says. I did not give any information from my account and I recommend that anyone especially over the phone.
- Call type: Text message
- bb workerdo you people not realise that if this wasnt barclays it would be a massive coincidence that some random fraudster would know that you bank with barclays - and if they knew that then they sure as hell would have your dob which isnt exactly confidential information and would certainly want to know more than the last two letters of your mothers maiden name - stop being so paranoid take the call and let your bank try and help. and before anyway says otherwise.......you really do need the help.
- Caller: barclays
- Debbie| 1 replyRang me claiming to be Barclays bank wanting to make sure I am getting enough out of my account- but basically all they are trying to do is sell their other products to you , insurances etc I just tell them my account is fine and I don't require any new products thank you very much - why can't they just leave people alone it's most annoying!!
- Caller: Barclays Bank
- bb replies to Debbieclearly ~Debbie you have all the answers well done
- Will| 6 repliesJust had the call. I asked what it was about. he said he couldn't tell me - without me answering 'security questions'. What drivel.
So let's review these posts & other facts:
*They sometimes call people who aren't even Barclays customers
*They won't tell you why they are calling
*They tell you your info is wrong and hang up (they've got it then)
*They phone people on the TPS list (no reputable UK company does this)
*Barclays have told people it's a scam number
*Banks say they will never phone you and ask for info
*The calers sometimes sound very unprofessional
*The callback line is very suspicious - as sometimes no-one speaks but they are there
*The alleged 'bb worker' on this link is highly unconvincing (and worse)
So, avoid like the plague. I hung up.- Caller: Scammers
